Kentucky holding steady as a 3-seed in the East in latest Bracketology

cal-ny

Will the Big Apple turn blue in March? Judging by the latest Bracketology from Joe Lunardi, it sure looks like it. Lunardi released his latest tournament projections this morning, which has Kentucky as the three-seed in the East Region, alongside 1-seed Villanova, 2-seed Florida State, and 4-seed Virginia. In this scenario, the Cats would play their opening round games in Indy, then travel to NYC for the regional:

NYC for the regional and a draw that doesn’t make me want to claw my eyes out? Yes, please. (Which, of course, means this will never happen.)

I wish it was selection sunday and this was our bracket!

I thought the committee stayed away from regular season rematches in the first round.

Here’s my beef. Florida State is currently ranked 17th in the polls. How IN THE HELL does that equate anything near a 2 seed? Joe Lunardi is a moron.

The NCAA listed FSU as the 6th best seed overall (the 2nd best 2-seed), it’s more likely the AP/Coaches polls are way off. Just like that time when Indiana was getting votes for #1 overall

I mean I hear ya, but FSU is 3-3 in their last 6 games with their best win coming against Miami and 2 of those 3 losses are to fringe tournament teams (Syracuse & GTech). They’re a 4 seed in my mind, but whatever. They are absolutely not the 6th best team in the country.

FSU has hit the skids, but didn’t we just toss a couple of clunkers out there? A really good high school team would maybe give up 85 points to LSU, we beat Georgia at Rupp in OT, lost to the Vols, and looked like LSU should have looked against Florida. And somehow, through all of that, we’re still a solid 3 seed.

Conference play is weird, it almost always is (remember when the 38-1 team *almost* lost to UGA in Athens?), and most everyone has a bad break or two. The committee won’t punish teams too harshly as a result.

We need to get in the East. And, I wouldnt want Syracuse in the second game…in New York!

I meant to say South, in Memphis.

That game would be in Indy, games in NY would presumably be FSU and Nova.

Really hoping for Kansas or Baylor as our 1 seed.

    1. Catsby80

I really don’t see baylor getting a 1 seed. I think the 4 1’s will be ‘nova, gonzaga, kansas, and whoever wins the pac 12. they have 3 teams in the top 7 right now, so whoever comes out of that mix will likely get the 1 if i had to guess.

I understand Baylor, but why Kansas? Do you want us to lose to them again?

    3. ColoradoCat3

Kansas has gotten lucky this year, and I honestly think we played our worst game of the season against them. We could have easily lost by 20 to other top 10 teams. We do well in revenge games and couldn’t play any worse than we did in the first meeting. They’re not as good as their record indicates.

Syracuse zone in the 2nd round, no thanks!!!
