Jarred Vanderbilt still not practicing; future still uncertain

John Calipari does not know when — or if — Jarred Vanderbilt will play basketball for Kentucky this season.

On Thursday, Calipari said Vanderbilt still hasn’t begun practicing with the team, and it is unclear if he will play at all in 2017-18. It will be up to Vanderbilt when he returns, Cal told reporters.

“It’s not going to be my call — it will be his,” Cal said. “He’s doing individual work right now, but he has not started practice yet. We’ll let it play out and if he thinks it’s good for him to play, then he will play.”

If Vanderbilt doesn’t join the team soon for the very important month of December, it’s hard to imagine he’ll ever be a big factor this season.

No, we need Mr. Miyagi’s magic.

If he’s doing individual workouts, to me that means he’s healthy… I don’t get it.

Probably not lifting off or cutting in this workouts

I would think if he is able to workout, he is well on his way and getting very close to recovery. I know the team could use his offense.

I’ll be shocked if he ever plays a game for UK. Injuries have a tendency to scare guys into rolling the dice on the draft or playing overseas. He was a potential lottery pick prior to the injury, so it would be a fairly safe bet that he could be invited to the pre-draft combine, and impress enough to still get drafted. It’s a shame, because he seems like a great kid, and I wish him well no matter what.

I think they’re the “ones” that also have the classic 80’s blue satin Starter jacket.

Yep the black one is Starter too. They also have the white one Shai was wearing as well

This isn’t too much of a shock, honestly. I have been assuming he wouldn’t suit up this year ever since the injury was reported.

I️ wonder what the doctors think about his foot health.

I hope that he plays but he needs to do what’s best for him whether that’s not playing this year, going pro, or staying another season. I can’t believe some of the responses here. The kid is injured!!! I’m pretty sure if you asked him….he’d much rather be healthy and playing right now!
