George Clooney thinks UK is very good, will do well in this year’s tournament

George-Clooney

I’ll admit, I’m still a newbie to this whole Reddit thing, but apparently George Clooney (as in the George Clooney) did a Q&A on Reddit this afternoon, and brought up the Cats when a fan said they had “KY PRIDE!!!!!”:

That’s an incredibly generic response, but hey, it’s George Clooney, he can do no wrong.  When asked about his own basketball skills, Clooney said he was “sneaky fast,” with “a good bank shot that people hate,” and that he recently beat Leonardo DiCaprio in a pickup game.

What would George be doing if he wasn’t an actor?  Living in Kentucky:  “Um. I’d be unemployed probably. I have no idea, I’d probably have gone back to Kentucky if I hadn’t succeeded and found a job there like everyone else.”

Damn you Hollywood, stealing all of our attractive men!

Mrs. TT would make him a samich if asks for it?

Clooney called his time in Kentucky some of the worst and most difficult years of his life. Cincinnati has more right to claim him as he prefers the northern side of the river.

It’s like Kentuckians trying to claim Lincoln because he was born there although he left as a child and never moved back.

    1. TimeFor9

So if we are wrong to claim him, why did he say “WE do have a very good basketball team this year”…sounds like he is claiming us.

    2. Chicago

While we are on the subject of Lincoln, three states try to claim him….

      Kentucky: “The Birthplace of Lincoln”
Indiana: “The Childhood Home of Lincoln”
      Illinois: “The Land of Lincoln”

What’s funny is driving from state-to-state, those quotations are posted on state border signage and license plates.

Clooney clearly used the opportunity on that blog to expand and speak to Kentucky, specifically our basketball program. He wasn’t asked a specific or direct question, but responded to a vague comment and expanded on his own thoughts, which seemed positive enough to me.

Now, Calipari just needs to invite him to a game.

At 18 ole Abraham won his first law case in Hancock Co, KY and was encouraged by the Justice of Peace, Samuel Pate to study law and even loaned him books. KY gave Lincoln the tools to ‘never look back’

    4. jhnny

Ohio has more a “claim to him?” This is completely false. His father and her sister (Rosemary Clooney) were raised in Maysville, KY and then lived in Augusta, KY. George Clooney was born in Lexington, KY, went to grade school in Northern Kentucky and went to High School in Augusta, KY and attended the majority of his college at Northern Kentucky University.

Yes, he lived a bit in Ohio (Columbus) as his father moved the family around for work, but when his father started working again in Cincinnati, his family again moved south of the Ohio river. His father and the rest of his family continue to live in Kentucky to this day!

Why in the world would you say Ohio has more a claim to George than Kentucky? That is just completely false. And obviously George feels the same way….

What a silly and false statement…

    1. ktmiln2

“what in the world is reddit?”

    2. harry

  5. ktmiln2

“Damn you Hollywood, stealing all of our attractive men!”

    Umm, I’m still here.

  6. atlantacat

Hollywood can have him, along with his politics; rather, especially for his politics.

    1. Sheila

      Why,because he is a democrat?

  7. harry

I’m having a hard time figuring out twitter, snap chat, groupon, Face Book, Flickr, Google hangouts and all the other social medium. This is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes i need to keep my thoughts to myself.

  8. Bigger Blue

If he were a true fan he would have referred to it as a “Whitaker Bank Shot!”

    1. Jesus

      Respect.

    2. Pickle Juice

As long as he doesn’t call it a “banking board shot,” then we’re good. I can’t stand it when Joe Dean Jr says banking board. NOBODY in the media calls it that except for him.

    3. Bigger Blue

Yeah, not even his daddy’s credibility with Straaaaang Music can give him cover for that one.

    4. Pickle Juice

It’s the way he puts way too much emphasis on every syllable. BANKing BOARD…like he’s doing us a service by educating all of us on the proper terminology.

    5. BigBlueMan

I just want an option that mutes the sound when ‘strangggggg music’ Junior speaks.

Based on your earlier comments i would have thought you would have said Lewis Wilson.

Danny Trevathan is up for the “Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-QB Non-RB MVP” on the ESPN TMQ blog. Richard Sherman will probably win it, but hey, it’s good recognition nonetheless. You can vote here:

Come on folks,,,,does anyone really care what this clown thinks ????

    1. RJ

More than the number of people who care what you think.

    2. jhnny

      Ha. What he said.

  14. RICK

He is a big UK fan, Thanks George and GO BIG BLUE.

  15. Connie

George moved to Augusta Ky when he was in the 7th grade. He graduated from Augusta High School. His parents still live there. He is from KY. He is a KY fan! GO Big Blue!

  16. ushouldno

When you watch “O Brother Where Art Thou” you know Clooney has a lot of Kentucky still in him.
I would even say he might be “bonifide”.

  17. Shooter

    Wow, He beat Leo,,Wow!

    1. inside info

Not only did he beat Leo, he dissed him pretty hard in an interview recently (maybe GQ or Vanity Fair). He said Leo was surrounded by yes-men who tell him how good he is in basketball but when he got on the court he was terrible. Go George!

  18. Jughead

    Hollywood can have that turd.

    1. Pand Raul

Yep, that thur citified slick movie boy, he dun likes that clean air an stuff. Well u can keep yor old clean air George, and we’ll keep our lights on! Free coal, down with that ‘ol fresh air and clean water. If’n you don’t bathe and don’t go outside, you don’t need neither!

  21. kes

I absolutely love when a liberal is posted in here! All these toothless hicks come out of the woodwork! hey guys, i got news for you. there is a REAL GOOD CHANCE that the UK team you will be rooting for tonite is starting 5 liberals! HAHAHAHA

    1. RJ

And is coached by one too!

    2. Beavis

Guess you think conservatives are all toothless hicks ??? Maybe you just read your own post .

  22. Chief_cat

Rather generic perhaps but be obviously has kept up enough to know we were ranked as of last week. Politics aside I am always glad to see a famous Kentuckian publicly rep the Bluegrass positively.

  23. Lexington 3

If he knew UK’s ranking off the top of his head, then I am impressed. To be honest, I do not even keep extremely close tabs on that. But if it was an internet question then he could have just googled it before typing his answer. All that said, I agree with George… Go Blue!

  24. raccoon

I’m as conservative as the next guy, but I just don’t understand how you can get worked up over every celebrity or public figure that doesn’t agree with your politics. As long as he isn’t trying to deliver DNC talking points at halftime at Rupp, I don’t care what his personal politics are. He is famous and publicly roots for Kentucky. That is a good thing for us. I mean, I can still watch movies made by liberals and liberals can invest money in funds run by conservatives or buy gas from oil companies run by conservatives. If you can’t do those things you are going to be pretty limited in life. Pick your battles.

UT got it going on… Google this for more…

University of Tennessee Sex Week To Teach Students When Orgasms Are A “Political Act,” “Lube Is A Tool of The Revolution”…

    Only in academia.

    Via Campus Reform:

University of Tennessee (UT), a public school, has announced the schedule for its second annual Sex Week, complete with a workshop to teach students how to masturbate.

One event, “Get Wet: Exploring the Connections Between Sexual Pleasure, Health, & Advocacy” will ask students “When is an orgasm a political act? When is lube a tool of the revolution?” The event description promises that host Megan Andelloux will “demonstrate how three components of sexuality – pleasure, health, and advocacy – flow into one another as we explore a variety of topics centered on reproductive justice and sexual freedom.”

The event will also inform students “which sexual health issues are involved in back-door lovin’, why you should care about sex workers’ rights, and how you can defend your own sexual freedom through self-love.”
