With Father’s Day coming up on Sunday, CoachCal.com is honoring the dads of the Kentucky Basketball world. Earlier this week, Julius Mays and Mark Krebs penned pieces for the site and today, Erin Calipari took the wheel and wrote about what life was like growing up as the daughter of a famous, and often hated, figure. As always, Erin includes a few funny stories, but ultimately, it’s a heartwarming look at the lessons her dad taught her.
“Even though he was not the traditional father, his confidence, strength, and compassion have shaped the way I interact with the world. He has taught me that nothing anyone can say about you changes who you are as a person, and the only people’s opinions that matter are the ones that you love. This strength and courage to be an individual in the face of public judgment, which I realize now is really really difficult, has only made me respect him and love him more.”
It’s an excellent tribute that’s well worth a few minutes of your time today. Check it out at the link below.
