EJ Montgomery and Jemarl Baker will NOT play tonight

Kentucky will be without two players tonight against San Lorenzo de Almagro.

The school announced this afternoon freshman forward EJ Montgomery will sit due to lower back issues.

Redshirt freshman Jemarl Baker will also sit out due to knee swelling.

Montgomery had eight points and six rebounds in 19 minutes against the Bahamas on Wednesday night.

Baker has yet to suit up for the Cats in an exhibition or regular-season game since he arrived on campus.

Tony Barbee will also coach for Kentucky tonight, giving Kenny Payne the night off.

We will miss EJ tonight. Hope Baker is on the court soon. We will likely need him.

I am a bit more confident in a Payne-coached team vs Barbee at the helm. I just don’t recall being electrified by his Auburn teams.

I don’t care who coaches an exhibition game. Apparently Coach Cal doesn’t either.

Concerned about my man, Jemarlboro Man. Heal soon. Heal well. Looking forward. Positively!

I’m beginning to think Baker is never going to play, that knee seems to be a constant issue with him.

Or… it could possibly be that there is no need to rush him back into action for an exhibition game.

Hopefully the lower back injury isn’t anything and just holding him out as a precaution.
