EJ Floreal has earned a Scholarship

A Congratulations is in order for Mr. EJ Floreal.  After one walk-on season, Floreal has been rewarded for his hard work by receiving a scholarship from John Calipari.  He didn’t have any numbers or miraculous plays to point out (except for the dunk in the Bahamas, that was awesome), but he did prove that he’s much more than the track coach’s son: he deserves to be on the court.

EJ brings the intensity to every practice, along with this:

That’s scholarship worthy if you ask me.

Good for EJ. He seems like a nice kid and it’s always good to see someone rewarded for hard work.

I thought coaches kids got free scholarships anyway?

I thought so too! They certainly should. But happy for EJ, seems like a nice kid and part of the group.

    Flo Real! Happy for him!

Good for him, but shouldn’t that scholly go toward a 2015 guy? I think at UK scholarships are 1 year deals but how often is one pulled for someone else?

      Just leave

I agree. It’s not like this kid contributes anything at all, and his dad doesn’t already make a quarter of a million dollars a year (seriously, for a track coach?).

He already had free tuition because his dad is an employee of the university. Should have given it to Tod Lanter.

Not true….. Employees do not get free anything. They get 10% towards tuition for every year they work at UK. EJ’s dad only worked one year at UK. He’s a hard worker and very deserving. Congrats EJ!

I think Gillispie offered it to him as a 5th grader.. glad to see coach follow through with it!

I giggle every time I watch that short video of him dunking and I hear the shoe fart.

I still say the young man could have a career in the NFL, if he would give up basketball and play college football.
