John Calipari was a happy guy today. He let Kenny Payne take over head coaching duties while he and Tony Barbee watched from the stands, and when the game turned into a blowout in the second half, he even manned the ESPNU cameras.
Cal obviously liked what he saw, posting on social media that he is proud of his guys, who are “farther along than any team I’ve had in a while,” a quote that will give you some goosebumps. Cal also joked that Kenny Payne “did a better job than I would have,” and hinted that he may try letting him coach in his place during the regular season.
Hey, as long as the result is the same, why not?
