John Calipari often calls Kentucky the “gold standard” of college basketball; after his team’s seven-point loss in Rupp Arena, Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams went one step further, telling reporters Kentucky is the best job in basketball — period.
“It’s the best job in all of basketball at any level and I don’t think there will ever be another head coach to do a better job at the best job than Cal.”
Both Williams and Cal are famous for their sideline antics, and Williams doled out plenty of praise to Cal, whom he called one of the best coaches in the game.
“I love Coach Cal. He’s an early entry hall of famer and that’s only happened six times in the history of the game. So, to have a coach that’s inducted into the hall of fame, I have the utmost respect for him.”
As for the Cats?
“I love them,” he said. “I love their team. I think they’re getting better with each passing game.”
After watching Williams charm the media, going as far to call out Jerry Tipton by name, I’m a fan of him as well.
