Bam Adebayo put up enormous numbers in the win

NKU-0825

Friday night’s Player of the Game Award goes to Bam Adebayo, who recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 18 rebounds. The career-high 18 boards were the most by a Kentucky Wildcat in the tournament since the 1950s — the FIFTIES!!!

Back then, Bill Spivey grabbed 21 in 1951 and Jerry Bird grabbed 24 in 1956. Adebayo’s next up in the books with his 18 here in 2017.

After the game, Calipari spoke of Bam’s free throws, not his double-double, telling reporters, “Well, again, what’s great about him is he’s making free throws. And our whole thing was we’re going at him. We knew they’d trap, which they did.”

There aren’t too many big men in the country I’d take over Bam right now, if any at all. The big man is playing outstanding basketball.

Bam is turning into the player we hoped he would, and Fox has developed an outside shot. This team SHOULD be destroying teams because two of our best players are playing their best right now.

We are going to need him too… The big three need to be on fire to pull this off.

We would be destroying teams if Monk was playing well. He is the only one playing uncharacteristically.

Yep, and the damn reporters won’t leave him alone….we don’t need them getting in his head.

I keep expecting a MONSTER game from Monk. But this team has shown it can win without him. It isn’t pretty but they win.

Not only that but we only hit 3 threes and Monk had 12. We scored essentially 80. That says alot about your team. What happens when we shoot avg? We score 90+. What about when we are hot? 100? Rusty first game bu good signs going forward.
