Ashton Hagans graduates, will officially reclassify to class of 2018

As expected, Ashton Hagans has graduated and will officially reclassify to the class of 2018.

This afternoon, the five-star Kentucky commitment released two photos on Twitter in his cap and gown holding up his diploma, meaning he has finished up all academic requirements to make the jump.

Hagans also retweeted a tweet that said he “did what was required to graduate early and join (the BBN) for the 2018-19 season.”

Game Elite director (Hagans’ AAU program) Chris Williams told KSR last week that the future Wildcat had one class to finish, and then he would “immediately go to Lexington.”

“(The class) will be done in a week or two,” Williams said. “(Then) he will immediately go to Lexington.”

And it looks like that time has officially come.

—————————-UPDATE—————————-

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello got confirmation from Hagans’ coach that the 6-foot-4 point guard out of Georgia will be on campus next week

The University of Kentucky has not confirmed the news yet, but Hagans will be suiting up in Blue and White this season.

Not your typical one and done player!! Although I feel he has the skills to be just that he sets himself apart due to his obvious ? and his drive to do what needs to be done to accomplish his dreams. I’m sick of the typical one and done and (attitude’s) that often arrive with them by only using UK as a stepping stone. I don’t sense that from this young man, in fact I sense hunger, drive, and gumption to do whatever it takes to be part of this year’s team and who knows maybe the following year. Either way I’m a long time UK fan who is happy and proud that we are getting such a special young man to play ofr our UK wildcats ?? I can’t wait to see Duke come November lol and if Travis Reid does happen to pick UK (like KSR has reported over and over again) then we will be the #1 team throughout the season and desearvedly so. ?? Can’t wait!!

    HELL YEAH

Looking forward to seeing him in August.

Also, Nova added a SF today. Not somebody who would keep Travis off the court, but it is one fewer schollie they have. Don’t know if they still have one open or not.

Reid Travis said he wants to WIN wherever he goes. Well Mr. Travis the pieces are in place, come on down!

  8. Aristocat

Seeing a lot of unselfish, pass-first behavior in his game. If he can keep that up, he’ll immediately take up a leadership role and help this group win as a team. Expecting great things from this young man.

Hopefully we’ll have Reid Travis on board by this time next week and the roster will be set. Preseason #1 and a run for #9 ready to get rolling. Is it AUGUST yet?

Regarding his “highlight video – would like to see a little more left hand utilization AND an outside shot…

    1. BBN_strive_4_9

Luether, we do not need him to have an outside shot we need him to be the Shai of this team, drive and kick to the shooters we already have.

    2. Carcrook

So, you’re saying its a bad thing if he can, shoot? We, actually need him to be himself, not Shai! My gosh, these comments, lol

    3. BBN_strive_4_9

I’m just saying he doesn’t need an outside shot for this team to succeed

Congrats young fella. Welcome to BBN. I’m excited to watch play this year. GO BIG BLUE!

      Very sensible post.

ANd this hits keep coming . I love the way this team is coming together. Reid will be here . We’re young and he would have a lot of minutes playing 4 and 5. N his training video it looks like s working on the midrange a lot and looking ok. I’m sure scouts told him that.

  13. chris43

Welcome to BBN! Looking forward to a great season. If we get Travis it’ll add needed depth to the post. I truly think we have a great chance to win it all. VERY EXCITED and to borrow a phrase from Ed Reed….what you think about playing Duke?!? CAN’T WAIT!!!

  14. kydrummer

This is great news for BBN but as a parent who has our first son going off to college in a couple months, I can only imagine what his parents and family are going through sending their 17 year ols son 6 hours away for college a year early. That being sad, glad to have him and go BBN!

    “said”

Team is starting to stack up pretty nicely. Can’t hardly wait! That makes 3 point guards correct? Alongside shooters, herro and baker?
