As the fall signing period comes to a close, Kentucky sets its sights on building the #1 class for 2012 by locking up a couple of Spring superstars in Shabazz Muhammad, Devonta Pollard or Jarnell Stokes. But the fall isn’t totally finished as Kentucky is waiting on a decision this week from Amile Jefferson as well. Jefferson is not as well known to UK fans as the other players, but he is just as talented. He is ranked at #20 by Scout.com and only three players, Shabazz, Anthony Bennett and Stokes, are left in the class with a higher ranking. He is a 6’8″ PF, that is long and very athletic. The coaches love his versatility and his upside. Some think in 2-3 years, he can be a star.
Most believe that the leader has been NC State for some time. Even though he is from Philly, Mark Gottfried has done well with him and the Gottfried assistants have been on him for some time. Calipari and UK came in a bit later but have had him on campus and feel good about their position. It is expected that he will decided early in the week. Below are some highlights of Jefferson’s play and we will keep you updated on any info that comes about:

Everything I hear is NC State. With Alex Poythress on board, I don’t see him going to UK.

Looks like he is lacking in the “hops” department…but he makes up for it with his touch around the rim

Looks more like a small forward.
We are getting spoiled right now with Michael Kidd Gilchrist. He will be a tough act to follow for any mobile forwards here on out.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Meh, dude looks dece @ best. I’ll take Stokes instead please.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:29 pm
Jarnell Stokes will be UKs next verbal, followed by Shabazz and the class will be complete. Jefferson was only on campus to put pressure on Poythress
November 13th, 2011 at 9:31 pm
oh and Pollard is waiting on Shabazz, if he goes to UK, Pollard will sign elsewhere, but if Shabazz stays out West I completely believe Pollard will run to Lexington to play the 2/3
November 13th, 2011 at 9:32 pm
He looks and plays just like Roscoe Smith (uconn) imo

On a side note. For everyone worrying about this year recruiting, we should all take a hint and NEVER doubt Cal… If he Truly wants them more then anyone else, he’ll get them. Period the end. And I believe he’s eyes are on Shabazz and anyone who doubts that he won’t get him, is on something.

Need some beef, I would take stokes! Shabazz will be a cat, write it down!
November 13th, 2011 at 9:58 pm
who wants to take on kidd-gilchrist role and be the best.
November 13th, 2011 at 9:59 pm
I hope they get a pure shooter. I think shabazz can shoot and alex poythress can knock down the open three. If they lose lamb it would be nice to get a really good shooter in this class.

I’m sure Cal and Uncle Wes are putting the finishing touches on a financial package for this kid. I’m sure he will sign with Cow.

#15, Do you ever have anything original to say? Your act is beyond old. Take your lame crap and go back under your rock.
November 13th, 2011 at 10:07 pm
I think it is obvious to anyone that Duke will be getting a commit from MY MAN BAZZ, and I would like to thank MY MAIN MAN Matt Jones for the help. Matt you are our greatest fan, and I will be saving a spot on our bench for you when you are done fooling these foolish cats.

Idiots on Arkansas board claim Goodwin is going to sign with Arkansas. He was at an Arkansas bball game a couple days ago, so they assume they are getting him.

Just watched the Kansas game on Espn 3.
They are much better than I expected, they will be a bigger test than I thought.
3 guard line up with guys that can hit the bullshit three that we always love. (teahan) Robinson is a beast.
Taylor is better, Johnsons gonna be good, But Releford scares me a bit. Withey sucks.
I really hoped we would stomp them, but this will be a great first test to see how the boys operate on the big stage on a neutral court.
We couldn’t ask for a better test, to see our mettle.
Go Cats!!

Kid has nice first step and soft touch. Long arms. Would fit nicely with Calipari’s system. He would grow better at UK than NCS. Better talent to push him at UK. Why would anyone want to go anywhere else? NCS? I cant remember the last time I saw the on TV…….?
November 13th, 2011 at 11:53 pm
i have some love for this kid…but i think he might actually be white…no 6’8 black basketball player lays it up that much…realtalk

Too weak and thin. Will get pushed around and non effective till weight and strength are added, unless he plays the 2 spot.

Looks like his jumper from outside is more of a set shot, he doesn’t seem to get any lift on the jump shot. It might be because of how open he is, and who he is playing with, but he can’t do that against A. Davis in practice.
