As the fall signing period comes to a close, Kentucky sets its sights on building the #1 class for 2012 by locking up a couple of Spring superstars in Shabazz Muhammad, Devonta Pollard or Jarnell Stokes. But the fall isn’t totally finished as Kentucky is waiting on a decision this week from Amile Jefferson as well. Jefferson is not as well known to UK fans as the other players, but he is just as talented. He is ranked at #20 by Scout.com and only three players, Shabazz, Anthony Bennett and Stokes, are left in the class with a higher ranking. He is a 6’8″ PF, that is long and very athletic. The coaches love his versatility and his upside. Some think in 2-3 years, he can be a star.
Most believe that the leader has been NC State for some time. Even though he is from Philly, Mark Gottfried has done well with him and the Gottfried assistants have been on him for some time. Calipari and UK came in a bit later but have had him on campus and feel good about their position. It is expected that he will decided early in the week.
