If you answered “yes” to this question, then you’re not a member of the UK basketball team. According to Billy Gillispie, his team isn’t tough enough and Michael Porter isn’t playing with enough confidence because he’s out of position. Gillispie also employs the “It hurts me more than it hurts you” line in regards to his team’s play lately.
This is an interview from Tuesday night with Andy Katz and some of you might have heard it already, but it’s a pretty good one. Plus, we don’t want to Jurich you to death today….yet.

I have full faith that i dont give a shit anymore.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Porter is out of position because he’s on the floor.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I don’t know how tough they are but they sure are fun to watch play with their up tempo style and helter skelter wackiness of Bruce Pearl. I hate the big orange but they do have what we don’t fun basketball.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Yep, condfidence is the only deficiency in Porter’s game.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Add a line beard to that pick and you have a UofL fan.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I love how he says “wHy? wHy?” about the cowboys…I wonder if he says “cool wHHip”

Porter is not a PG, he is a SG playing out of position. He should not be asked to handle our PG duties. It’s time for some on the job training for Liggins. I know a lot of you hate Porter, but he is good enough to play a role on this team as a backup 2 guard. I guess no one remembers, but he’s a fairly good 3pt shooter. The kid is a competitor and has unfortunately been placed in a position where he won’t likely succeed.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Tough to play with your replacement standing on your heels. I know its early and I am not a coach and I am just giving my opinion.
Liggins should play a lot of minutes, mistakes will come but he is the future. Miller should play at least half the game splitting time with Harris. Harris is a great defender but his ball handling skills cancel it out in my opinion. Play Miller and let him learn, he is the future as well.

Lack of toughness isn’t turning the ball over every trip down the floor is it? If so send the team down to Parris Island
November 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Porter’s 3-pt attempt(s) in the UNC game were not exactly promising … I hope we never have to rely on him to hit a shot when it counts.
November 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Well, physical toughness may not be turning the ball over, but I think what Coach is referring more to mental toughness. We have all heard him say that they were playing scared at times and that all ties into mental toughness. The good and TOUGH teams will be able to play through the wild environments and be able to execute mentally which will lead to a lot better results…
November 20th, 2008 at 11:56 am
What? cool wHHip. cool wHHip. oh nevermind
November 20th, 2008 at 11:58 am
haha exactly..I didnt know if anyone knew what I was talking about…
November 20th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
No wonder they are playing scared when you are down 15 in the first 3 minutes.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
no problem ..over maybe the cats can stop turning the ball over…. maybe the cats can turn the ball what??? turn the ball over….. turn the ball what?? turn it over…. nevermind…
seriously, when I look at liggins I see the next Rodrick Rhodes. and I know you all just cringed and peed yourself a little but its true. the only good thing is when I look at porter I see a waste of a scholly.

#8 – GoCats2 – You said, “Tough to play with your replacement standing on your heels. ”
Well then everyone in college sports except for Patrick Patterson and Tyler Hanesboro are going to have it tough to play.
I have to respectfully disagree with your statement. In a way it elludes that someone else is to blame for Porters “suck”. Let’s let Porter take responsibility for his lack of bringing it and give everyone else in line a break.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
After listening to that, I don’t see how someone couldn’t have faith that Coach is gonna get it done. He knows what he is doing and he is right, it’s only two games in…look at how we improved last year.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
#15 – steppingonaminu – Liggins and Rhodrick Rhodes are on such opposite ends of the talent ladder that you’d better have an excuse soon for saying such a foolish thing. We’ll accept excessive lunch break whiskey poppers, stealing pain meds from grannys medicine cabinet, and/or a tainted gallon of cider.
There is no comparison. Sorry.

Great interview. I love coach G. Perfect pick for the job. I can’t wait until he gets this turned around and finally gets rid of “tubby pus** ball”.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
rhodes was a three time parade all american, he was compared to J-kidd for christ sake. He had way more expectations than liggins, and he qualified on time. Liggins … D.U.M.E. Dumb
November 20th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
I still think he has a chance to be good, just needs time, some are sloooowwweeer than others.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
To his credit, it seems like BCG knew we were screwed at point guard this year. I just wonder how the coaching staff was so wrong on evaluating Galloway.
As a junior really need him to play some minutes at point.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
#2 That’s the first thing that came to mind when I read the Porter is playing out of position. His natural position should be sitting on the bench clapping for teammates and high-fiving them during timeouts.
November 20th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
#20 – So you want to give high school hype credit instead of on the college court ability.
Rhodes never showed promise on the college court. He was a hesitant slasher – that means he couldn’t do his job.
Liggins on the other hand shows he can dish the ball – 11 assists in 2 games. He’s had some turnovers but can get Patrick the ball. That’s his job.
Liggins court vision is something we haven’t had at UK in a long damn time.
If you want to blame Liggins for our losses this season then your off base. I’m not saying your doing that but the kid doesn’t deserve to be treated like Porter.
November 20th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Porter is definitely playing out of position, his correct position is defensive back…
November 20th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
#24- Liggins is ALL HIGHSCHOOL HYPE at this point. He is a point forward at best. I don’t see the PG everyone sees. His hesitation dribble, that is in fact palming/turning over, was over looked because he was so dominant in high school. He has been called for it 2x in rupp, and should have been more but the officials, luckily, sucked that friday. He has few turnovers due to lack of minutes. That is directly proportional to his PT, and will move proportionately as well. His 11 assists consist of alot of gimme passes off the break, which, granted, porter cannot do at this point. By all means we should be starting him, but if you think he is the PG that will take us to the finals you are sorely mistaken. Maybe he can improve to get us through the year, but a 4 year starting PG he is not.
November 20th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Liggins is a big PG similar to Calathes, except he has a lot more athletic ability than Calathes and isn’t nearly as big an asshole.
November 20th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Isn’t that “The Miz”. This Summer everyone has been talking about how Porter is in such great shape and Muscular and Ripped….If he’s in as good of shape is everyone was saying I guess that makes Me Arnold Schwarzenegger(And by no means am I the Schwarz). There is no change in his Physique or his basketball skills. Liggens is the Guy!
November 20th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
24. “Liggins court vision is something we haven’t had at UK in a long damn time.”
-have you already forgotten about rondo??
and….you’re = you are……….your = your
