The Preseason SEC-Media poll is out and Kentucky was tabbed as the likely conference winner. The Wildcats got 18 out of the 23 first place votes (which is silly, but whatever) and put one person on the First Team All-SEC team. I have little problem with the selections, although I would have put Anthony Davis ahead of Dee Bost for first team honors. Still it gives us something to complain about and for that, we can all be happy:
Kentucky (18) — 282
Vanderbilt (4) — 265
Florida (1) — 235
Alabama — 219
Mississippi State — 191
Arkansas — 154
Ole Miss — 119
Georgia — 108
LSU — 91
Auburn — 80
Tennessee — 71
South Carolina — 57

Vandy will under-achieve this season

Finally Darius Miller gets some love from someone. I really think he is in for a great season!
October 24th, 2011 at 1:35 pm
Vandy with two players in the first team, but Kentucky with only one? Hmmmmm…..
October 24th, 2011 at 1:37 pm
I’m a big Vandy fan and a bigger UK fan. This year’s Vandy team has the potential to be great. But anyone who voted for them above UK is absolutely smoking crack. (Think of the experience this UK team will have by the time the conference season starts; let alone by the tournament)

I agree with 2, Miller is going to blow up this year. All this talk about freshman when Jones, Lamb and Miller will lead this team in every stat except blocks (Davis will handle that).
Miller is going to doominate!

UK/Ole Miss game time for next Saturday set for 3:30 on ESPNU. They moved the Bama/LSU throw down to prime time on CBS>

October 24th, 2011 at 1:51 pm
Florida getting a first place vote???!!!??? whhhhhaatttt??!!!
October 24th, 2011 at 1:55 pm
Really? Dee Bost is still in school and still highly thought of? Why? He is beyong overrated!
October 24th, 2011 at 1:58 pm
any list with walker/boynton on it is suspect.
October 24th, 2011 at 2:00 pm
Im fine with these preseason lists, and the “snub” some of our boys get. its even more motivational factors to be the best.
we’ll see what this revised list looks like at the end of the year!

Where are you Mr. Schwump? Surely you have some disparaging comments or are you taking the day off?

I’m thinking the second team could beat the first, even without the six-on-five advantage.

Five bucks says Tipton voted Vandy #1…
October 24th, 2011 at 2:35 pm
Guys, who cares about “pre-season” polls? Remember, the #1 team this time of year isn’t always (if ever) the national champion. Let’s win everything… and dare them to keep our guys off the post-season lists and POY.
Hey, have the guys over the past 2 years that have been rated in these polls gone ahead of our fellas in the draft? Didn’t think so…
October 24th, 2011 at 2:36 pm
I only have 1 question: Where are Teague, Kidd-Gilcrist and Wiltjer?
October 24th, 2011 at 2:36 pm
Awful lot of respect for a Vandy team that has never done N-E Thing!!!
October 24th, 2011 at 2:40 pm
Even with what I previously said, I hope Cal makes copies of this list and posts it everywhere – lodge, Kraft Ctr., Rupp, telephone poles on Eculid, etc.
October 24th, 2011 at 3:01 pm
So, what are the chances that UK’s lineup ends up as the the 1st team? Cuz our players are better and will prove that. But if Chandler Parsons can win SEC POY, I doubt it will happen.
October 24th, 2011 at 3:23 pm
By the end of the year, our starting five will be all SEC 1st team!! GO CATS!!
October 24th, 2011 at 3:38 pm
I’m thinking the second team would beat the first, even without the six-on-five advantage.
October 24th, 2011 at 4:02 pm
I guess JayMichael Green is one of those rare 8th year Sr’s??
October 24th, 2011 at 5:39 pm
I know they might think it’s too many UK players, but Kidd-Gilchrist and Teague should also be on those teams. And AT LEAST Davis should be on the First team. Two Vandy players on the first team? C’mon.
