Sanders “unlikely to play” against Mississippi State

During Joker’s weekly teleconference today, he announced that RB Raymond Sanders is “unlikely to play” against Mississippi State on Saturday. Sanders suffered a high ankle sprain against Jacksonville State.

Joker also addressed the rumors that freshman RB Josh Clemons was unhappy:

“When you’re struggling, people are going to start rumors and try and divide you as a football team, as a football family. The thing that we’ve talked to our kids (about) is being together and we’re sticking together.

“There’s no indications of those things. We’ve talked to Josh after hearing the things — we’ve got people that read the Internet and listen to you guys’ call-in shows and all those things. People gonna start whatever they’re going to start. The thing we have to do is stay together as a team. It’s just some unknown rumor that’s started by someone.”

Also, Mississippi State opened as a 10-point favorite against the Cats for Saturday night’s game. Fair?

    1st … 10 point favorite ? LOL

  2. Wes Says:

Is there ever a time when Raymond Sanders isn’t hurt?

  3. Easy money Says:

Give the 10 and take State. We can’t run on them like Jax St and newton still can’t throw a lick.

  4. Brian Says:

we threw for 100 yds on a team…..an FCS team…..that gives up almost 300/yds a game through the air. We have not made any strides. And just because our 3rd/4th(?) string running back ran for 150 yds against an FCS team, it doesnt mean we’re going to be able to do that against SEC defenses. We wont.

  5. BloodyBlue Says:

10 points is fair. We all blame Joker for this humiliating season; Brookes left us with nothing. UK admin has left us with nothing since Bear Bryant. Forget football in Ky.

  6. Cat fan Says:

    Is it basketball season yet?

  7. superfan Says:

The negativity needs to stop…If you are that unhappy find another team or another sport to support. The players and the true fans don’t want to hear it. Joker and Barnhart are here to stay. Support them or move on…

  8. 23jumpboy Says:

Lou says give em all a nice $h!+ burger to eat!! Go Cats!

  9. CoachSpikeLeche Says:

It’s a sad day when we are getting 10 points as the home team vs a team that’s 0-4 in conference

  10. Fan Power Says:

man… Miss. St must really suck.

  11. Fritz Says:

boy oh boy… Miss. St must really suck.

  12. Cat fan Says:

Man, theyz posed 2 be SEC! Should be at least 40 right?

  13. CoachSpikeLeche Says:

The “true” fans are the ones killing the program. They are the ones that have been eating the plates of poop called Kentucky football for most of the past century and asking for seconds instead of demanding a better program.

  14. tyson Says:

13 I was going to comment on #7 but you said it much better than I would. Why would I root for another team? Why wouldn’t I want my team to get better? 7 obviously didn’t suffer through the Curry Era.

  15. Reality Checki Says:

The majority of fans for ALL teams are negative when they’re team is bad and getting worse. Most coaches get fired if they fail to win. Its the way things are. If Joker turns it around this year – more power to him. If he doesn’t, he s/b gone. And if Mitch won’t do it, he should go as well.

Joker has been recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator for the past 6 years or so and the “coach in waiting” / #2 man for two years before he took over the team. Don’t tell me ANYTHING about this being Brooks fault. This is Jokers team from the Freshmen to the Seniors and he needs to take FULL responsibility for the dramatic drop off in performance.

The fans are key to getting this turned around. If the team does not improve – let the administration have it where it hurts the most – in the wallet. If they start losing money from concessions and poor season ticket sales – they’ll be forced to do something.

I’d trade 3 jokers for a Leach in less time than it takes our receivers to drop a pass.

  16. The truth hurts Says:

I truly hate getting lectured about being a true fan by people who have their head in the sand. Do you not see how pathetic we are? Do you believe in Joker as a HC? How about ole Brainfart, our AD, are you feelin good about him as well? I don’t need or want another team to cheer for, but I will not drink the poop flavored cool aid that is this current UK football program.

  17. Rodney branum Says:

13 and 14… By the way, I was in the stands for the Curry era. I did not miss a home game. I support my Cats win or lose. It is not my job nor yours to make the decision on Jokers or Barnhart’s performance. My job is to support my team win or lose. Until we get a fan base that is positive and don’t get off the bandwagon every time something goes wrong we will never have a consistent winning program. 35% of the stadium was empty yesterday and that 35% of the fans are the ones who are negative and would be complaining if we were 4-3 that we have not won against great competition. You are the type of people who love negativity and are miserable.

As a fan who was at the game yesterday, it was great not hearing fans swearing at the players, screaming at Joker and making the atmosphere unpleasant. I did not not hear any boos directed to these young men and coaches. The 40,000 present are the true Ky fans and if you 35% continue to stay at home and gripe, complain and whine on KSR, maybe the true fans can encourage the team to do better. We will recruit new fans to the stadium and I hope that you continue to stay away from Commonwealth stadium. At the end of the year the paycheck that we receive for being in the SEC off sets the negative fans staying at home. Barnhart has improved every sport and will continue that progress in years to come. Support the team or move on…

  18. JPhelps Says:

    Load up on the dogs!

  19. Mammakin Says:

    7,17
    Youre as lame as joker
What did he say something like we dont need the fans

Oh wait where does your salary come from? The tooth fairy?!

Fire him hes a joke of a hc
You know i know everyone knows it will happen at some point in thenext few
The writing is on the wall on his ability as a hc

  20. TRUE FAN Says:

#7 A true fan loves it when the team he loves is doing good. The same true fan gets mad and negative when the team he loves is not playing up to parr.
If people wasn’t fans they wouldn’t post at all. I feel like when I cheer for a team..I have every right to complain when they perform the way the cats have this season.
That don’t mean i’m not a true fan. A fair wheather fan is one that cheers for a team when it’s doing great and you don’t hear from them when the team is down.
A TRUE FAN cheers when things are going good and complains when it’s not.

  21. Kyknightrider Says:

7 Hey sooperfan! Why dont you go suck it up to Murrey State or WKU Mr. I wanna be the kool middle aged love my school but we suck at all aspects of the game, joker lovn @uck! Sick of this so called coach. Hes suckd since he was calling plays in 08! Cant read a defense and his supporting cast sucks to! Run middle, run middle, pass, ooops that didnt work, PUNT. We need excitement, we need suprise, we need leadership, UK needs someone to believe in. WE NEED LEACH!!!!! Dont Screw Up Again Barnfart!!! Big Blue Nation Wants It Done!!!!!!! GET MIKE LEACH TO REXINGTON NOW!!!!!

  22. RexChapmansCalvesSay Says:

FREE MIKE LEACH!!!!! N ILE JUMP OVER THE SEC!!!!!

  23. big tim Says:

no a true fans supports there team win or lose wow were having one down year get over it and support the team not every year were going to be decent in football we lost all our offensives playmakers last year what did you all expect us to be great when we lost most of our talent last year

  24. SagaciousMind Says:

People calling for his head really need to wake up and realize something, Joker has a lot of good young talent that are his recruits. Next season we will really get a chance to see if he can coach his guys. If next season fails, then yes I agree, get rid of Joker. Until then, shut the hell up! Yeah I hate seein this mediocre bullcrap on the field as well, but it’s time you stop doggin the team. Like they said, they see this crap and that’s why they are like FU! Cuz you are sayin FU to them! And you all keep bitchin about Barnhart but fail to realize the changes that have been made have been for the players and there’s been a lot of those. Not only that, but football is not the only program. Since Barnhart took over UK other programs have flourished. Yeah you may only care about football and basketball, but you are only a fan. You are not apart of the UK administration that has to focus on multiple athletic programs. But do I think Joker is in over his head? Yeah I do because there is no reason for this offense to be this bad when you have all the experienced players. But the optimist in me realizes next season yeah we lose O line men, but we have a good young group to replace them. And Matt Roark is the only WR we lose and that’s not losing much. As for D, its hard to replace Trevathan and Guy, but there has been young guys on the field doin big things. Also, this season isnt over yet. As for Clemons, what does he have to be unhappy about when he’s not even playing? And Sanders shoulda just redshirted this year if he knew he was gonna be hurt this much. So to sum it up, people should really just stop bitchin because you’re wastin your breath. These games comin up are winnable, there is still a shot of endin up 8-4, 7-5 or even 6-6 works for me.

  25. tyson Says:

    17. If you were in the stands during the Curry Era, you were one of the FEW. I am sure you gave a standing ovation each of the 3 or 4 times per game you heard “first down Kentucky!” over the loudspeakers. I question your intelligence if you continue to support a team that is not even competative against SEC opponents and struggles against what should be inferior opponents. I love UK football and hope it gets better. But I’m not dumb enough to pay money to see a crappy product.

  26. Paducah Fan Says:

#24, For real you think this team can finish 8-4, 7-5 or even 6-6? 5-7 at best, and thats beating Ole Miss and hopefully Vandy.

  27. RC Pop Says:

MSU will win by 21 ABSOLUTELY

  28. GB Says:

The game will end up with a 7-8 spread…more realistic. I think UK will surprise people!

  29. TS Says:

During our postgame tailgating Saturday, Raymond Sanders walked by with his family. We said to him “Please hurry and get well. We need you.” He smiled and said “I’ll be ready to go next week”. Take that for what it’s worth, but he seemed confident that he would be able to play against Mississippi State.

  30. Jurich Says:

Withdraw your life savings and bet it all on Miss St. There is no way this game is close. We may not score, and they will easily run all over us.

  31. erniecat Says:

If Leach is such a great hire, why is he unemployed and writing books?

  32. Yeah6! Says:

#6 – Yay! And go Rifle Team, too!
