Grab an ink pen and pull out your recruiting notepads, there is a new name to add to the list of UK targets in 2012. Amile Jefferson, a 6-foot-7 power forward from Philadelphia, is on Kentucky’s radar and Coach Cal and his staff are making a hard push in his recruitment. He’s Scout.com’s No. 4 power forward in the class of 2012 and he holds offers from a number of schools including Syracuse, Ohio State, Miami, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Jefferson will take an official visit to Ohio State on September 30th and he’s already visited Maryland, Temple, N.C. State and Villanova. He doesn’t list any favorites at this point and he says he’d still like to visit Syracuse, UConn, St. John’s and possibly Stanford.
Don’t be surprised if you see him at Big Blue Madness next month. This is what he looks like…

I want this guy solely to piss off Ohio St and Maryland fans.
Seems like he has a nice drop step.

Power forward? You’ve got to be kidding me. I have Sharpies that are thicker than him.

This kid makes me look fat.

nice touch around the rim. (That’s what she said!)
seems to play small, not even sure he can dunk…who has a mix and not one dunk??
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 pm
Plays below the rim for sure…
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
He plays below the rim, seems to not jump very high.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
meh
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:22 pm
Nice hops
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:24 pm
kid can attack the tin.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:25 pm
PF in a SF body, Maybe he’s a combo that can slash and shoot real well.
Either way, I trust Cal’s judgment – he must see something he likes.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:28 pm
dont doubt cal. he knows whats up.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:30 pm
This kid looks like he’s about 15 years old; someone get this kid something to eat.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:38 pm
Was he just playing against better competition, did they choose not to pick typical highlight real stuff, or does this kid literally never dunk? Doesn’t seem too explosive around the rim. Love him on the boards though…
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:39 pm
I love how everyone watches a 2 minute clip on youtube and decides that he plays below the rim or isnt any good. Good Lord, its ok if we take a guy thats not a one and done. Kid might be growing into his body still. Cal knows what’s up.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:40 pm
I bet he smacks a mean backboard though.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:41 pm
IT’s POP-TART TIME!

This year we are likely to lose TJ and AD. Add that to Darius and Eloy graduating and we have several forward/power foward spots we need to get filled. I really hope we get bennett because he seems like a beast.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:55 pm
This kid had ridiculous upside. He runs the floor well, has great hands, can score facing up, has a good looking jumper and soft touch around the basket. Does he need to add strength to his wiry 6’7″ frame? Sure. Given his wingspan, he plays more like a seven footer. Love me a versatile combo forward. Yes please.
September 23rd, 2011 at 1:58 pm
When you have 7 scholarships to give this is what you do. Would you rather have this guy coming off the bench or play another 6 man rotation?
September 23rd, 2011 at 2:04 pm
horrible… no thanks
September 23rd, 2011 at 2:19 pm
i like an old fashioned player who doesnt insist on playing above the rim. granted he might not have much hops, but neither did chuck, and look what he did to us. chuck was 40 lbs heavier though. from this short video alone, looks like he’ll need to work on lis left hand. that one layup with his left looked sketchy. wont teams make him go left, and push him to the other side of the paint where he’ll be forced to be uncomfortable?
September 23rd, 2011 at 2:20 pm
I just searched YouTube, and fear not, BBN, the kid can dunk. He’s by no means Anthony Davis in this regard, but he can throw down reasonably effortlessly.
September 23rd, 2011 at 2:28 pm
Perfect! This would be a 4 year player thats actually already decent. we need those
September 23rd, 2011 at 2:55 pm
14 exactly
September 23rd, 2011 at 3:25 pm
a ninja cant even dunk!
September 23rd, 2011 at 3:32 pm
“Experts” never cease to make me gag…

@#$%
September 23rd, 2011 at 7:30 pm
I usually doubt kids not in the top 10 since cal is here, but did anyone notice how almost all his shots went strait in off the backboard without bouncing on the rim? He has a dead eye for banking it with shots that are hard to block.
When they go in he does not look surprised the least. I get it.

#20, are you serious, bringing that post in here? Nice crtique. NOT!
September 24th, 2011 at 12:49 am
I really don’t see power foorward out of him, he reminds me of Liggins, dribbles high and doesn’t dunk, but is skinny as Perry. But, if Cal wants him, who am I to disagree, he knows best. Go CATS!!!
