Marquis Teague impresses at Adidas Nations

by @ 10:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Teague

The first day of the Adidas Nations camp ended yesterday and nbadraft.net had some good things to say about the play of camp counselor and heir to the UK point guard throne, Marquis Teague. This excerpt was taken from the article:

Marquis Teague flashed an absolutely nasty handle during his match up with Damian Lillard. Teague is the most interesting point guard here and has a good shot to follow in the footsteps of the Calipari PGs before him (Rose, Tyreke, Wall and Knight) and become a top 10 pick.

That’s good to hear, especially because Teague has been a bit of an anomaly in relation to his predecessors. In each of John Calipari’s past four classes, the gem and player with the most buzz has been the point guard. However, in this class Teague has been overshadowed by not only the big men in Anthony Davis Jr. and Michael Gilchrist, but also his fellow point guard, Ryan Harrow. With the talent on this team, the mantle of scorer won’t necessarily fall upon Teague’s shoulders like it did last season for Brandon Knight, but if he is able to build his confidence this summer and make that a part of his game, this team will be even more deadly than imagined.

Hopefully as the summer goes on, Teague can continue to build his confidence and generate a real buzz as a player to watch out for this season.

It is poor writing to say a PG has a “good shot” and not be referencing a skill on the court.

Overshadowed, no way! He has wicked handles for sure and we need a point guard bad. He may be the most important cog in the wheel next year. I totaly disagree, he is not overshadowed by anyone in my mind.

Listen give me Teague next year instead of Harrow and I’d be really really happy. Lets not forget that Teague is the better player of the two.

I think Teague will show everyone that he can more than hold his own at “Point Guard U”. He may break the freshman record for assists. He will have alot of weapons to go to.Playing against Harrow everyday will also be a big plus in his development.

  14. T Says:

Teague is similar to Eric Bledsoe, but has better handles. Same build, explosiveness and shooting ability.

  15. T Says:

    Wall
    Bledsoe
    Knight
    Teague
    Harrow

How does Zona even begin to call themselves point guard U?
