Brace yourselves for a fight, my friends. According to the greatness that is Oscar Combs, Joe B. Hall is not ready to go quietly into the night and step away from coaching against John Calipari August 15 at Rupp Arena. Combs Tweeted today that “Just a note to say this NCAA snub of 82-year-old Joe B Hall is NOT going to die quietly in the night. Trust me!” before adding that Hall’s lawyer, W. Terry McBrayer, has contacted the NCAA about not letting him participate. And according to Combs, “the pit bull is loose”.

Plus the NCAA let the former UNC pros wear official UNC uniforms! Check the link above.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:01 pm
What reason has the NCAA given for keeping Coach Hall from participating? He’s retired from his employment with UK.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:01 pm
They wont even let us say Kentucky or UK about anything associated with the game! Complete joke!
July 29th, 2011 at 12:01 pm
Hope he sues for a million bucks.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:04 pm
Why not just list Joe B. as a player!
July 29th, 2011 at 12:04 pm
It’s like when radio personalities have to say “the big game” instead of saying “the super bowl” , pretty silly.
I knew this story was fluid and that this wasn’t the final ruling on the coaching situation, tv, etc..
July 29th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
I hear we will be required to strip of any UK attire at the door and replace it with NCAA attire
July 29th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
Everyone should read that article linked by 3, above. This is a travesty.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:10 pm
Get’em, Grampy JOE B!! KICK THEM IN THE JIMMY!!!
July 29th, 2011 at 12:10 pm
Can’t Joe B just be included on the roster of players and just not go into the game but still “coach?”
July 29th, 2011 at 12:12 pm
I say coach anyway, what could the NCAA do? Since its not a UK event how could they punish the school?
July 29th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
I say we go with a mystery coach…just put Joe B in one of those wrestling masks that lace up in the back…never announce his identity…and give him a rock solid alibi for being somewhere else…what could go wrong?
July 29th, 2011 at 12:14 pm
the NCAA CAN KISS MY ANAL ORIFICE! Doubt I’ll ever meet an NCAA official but if I do plan to spit in his face! Sick of the illegitimate, arrogance of the organization!
July 29th, 2011 at 12:20 pm
where are the details…whats up
July 29th, 2011 at 12:20 pm
That the NCAA finds this game a cause to pursue simply points to their stupidity. You think there couldn’t be any worse insanity than what’s happening in Washington? Well, we can always count on the a lack of a single rational thought inside the hallowed halls of the NCAA in Indianapolis.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:21 pm
After looking at 3′s link I think Joe has a case. Talk about double standards.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:22 pm
Heres to hoping one of the nicest men in the whole Big Blue Nation turns into one bad sumbitch at least for this. Get em Joe B.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:26 pm
It should lead to an open investigation of the NCAA. It’s not a conspiracy theory that they are in our collective ass the past several months. This, when they try to say that they don’t have the “time and resources” to look into all matters etc.
What a joke.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
Ask Digger Phelps what it’s like to go up against Joe B. Kicked his butt on the court and then out-quipped him at the airport, “Notre Dame had fun!” Joe B. is one of the nicest guys on the planet but he is not to be taken lightly.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
Jor B for President, I hope he smacks the NCAA down a few notches.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
^Joe
July 29th, 2011 at 12:31 pm
Go get’em Terry B.
July 29th, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Don’t send Terry after the ncca, send his mother Ethel, she is the real politican. What a great lady!
July 29th, 2011 at 12:36 pm
LOVE IT!!! I hope he gets to coach. I still don’t see what the stupid NCAA has to do with any of this. Rupp Arena isn’t on the campus and there are no current players involved. All it is is NBA guys (who happened to play at UK) playing against the Dominican team. Anywhere else no one would say a word about any of it but in Kentucky they have to try to look for something to stick their nose in and ruin.

July 29th, 2011 at 12:48 pm
#15 Haha awesome. Luchadore B. Hall!!
July 29th, 2011 at 1:00 pm
If UCLA had tried this identical scenario with John Wooden it would have been heralded as one of the greatest feel-good stories in recent memory. Whoever’s keeping the list of NCAA blatantly biased calls against the Cats, add this stupid decision to it.
July 29th, 2011 at 1:08 pm
Player-coach!!!!!!
July 29th, 2011 at 1:26 pm
The NCAA pushes UK around because UK makes it easy for them to do so. Whenever the NCAA speaks UK cowers in fear. This is easily the most timid program in the nation.
Any sane program would demand that the NCAA specify which particular rule(s) they are violating, and they must show that it is in the rule book.
UK is quickly becoming a joke–a laughingstock. I, as a lifelong fan, have lost considerable respect for them.
The name Kentucky (or UK) is now synonymous with cowardice.
July 29th, 2011 at 1:33 pm
According the article, Smith didn’t coach the game. He sat at the scorer’s table. George Karl and John Kuester coached the game. So I don’t know if he has a case, but there’s definitely a precedent for allowing UK to be somewhat associated with the event.
Although, I don’t see how the NCAA has any right to anything the city of Lexington does with its arena, or where players who are not associated with the NCAA scrimmage. The only people they may be able to deny are current members, right? So maybe Cal, Vargas, and anyone else on the DR team that’s still in college.
And as far as the UK brand, are they going to start going after UK fans who are wearing UK jerseys and telling what they can or cannot do? They *might* be able to prevent the players from wearing official gear, but I’m sure we can get some knockoffs that look just like them at Hands-On Originals or someplace similar.
July 29th, 2011 at 1:42 pm
I say we hold the game in Indianapolis and sell out one of the domes with UK (Uh, I mean “Big Blue”) fans! We also hold a pep rally right outside the NCAA headquarters! Now that would be an event!
July 29th, 2011 at 1:54 pm
Who’s car we takin’?
July 29th, 2011 at 2:43 pm
Send the link @ #3 to Emmert’s and say you’re F@#$%@.
July 29th, 2011 at 4:11 pm
I agree with #13, but think he should actually start. And everyone should get out of the way..let him score. Then call timeout and take him out of the gaame
July 29th, 2011 at 5:25 pm
@35
You can thank Mitch and the rest of the UK admin for that. I am continuosly blown away by how politically correct the higher-ups at UK are. The overall lack of balls is sickening
