I never ever believed I would see the day that UK would suit up a “Joey Waldrop” player. Joey Waldrop played for Georgia in Felton’s first year. He was a walk-on and a Theatre Major. He had to be the biggest “DORK” I have ever seen play basketball. Please tell me that he isn’t Joey’s long lost brother.
He was 7 feet tall and weighed 355 pounds.

The kid found a team that is above his talent level normally and exploited the fact that Tubby can’t get a solif power forward. This is a win/win for the player and another example of how UK is being played by Tubbys lack of recruiting ability. Bash me all you want, it’s the truth.

Let’s get a grip fellas. He is walking on. He gets a chance to contribute to a major college program in practice, and maybe get some spot minutes here and there. I don’t see anything wrong with that especially since we have 11 scholarship players and the fact that he is 6′8ish” and 250ish pounds. We have a great S&C Coach now, and who knows maybe he can mold this guy into something one day. In two or three years he could be a solid forward. I am a huge UK fan, but I am also realistic. The toothless inbreds that form our uneducated fan base believe that every recruit or walk-on player should be a 5-star player. That isn’t going to happen, get over it. If you guys are so stuck in the 90s UK teams, just become a UofL fan….your beloved Coach Pitino is the headman of that program. REALLY GO ON….WE DON’T NEED FANS WHO DETRACT FROM TEH PROGRAM.

You continue to make the point of Tubbys lack of recruiting ability for me. 11 scholarship players but then go on to say a major college program. Why would a major college program only have 11 players on scholarship if not fot the recruiting inabilities of the coaching staff? We should be turning kids away. As for the 5 stars, none in the sophomore class, none in the freshman class. 2/3 of them in the junior class tried to leave early and couldn’t, one did and there are none in the senior class.

UK ranked 5th in the 60’s - 5th in the 70’s - 9th in the 80’s - 2nd in the 90’s (THANKS TO OTS who won 82.9% of his games but Pitiner won 81.4% of his games) - and now 5th in the 2000’s.
UK excelled in the NCAA during the 90’s - Pitino won 81.5% of his NCAA games whearas Tubby won 90% of his.

The UK program had 10 players on scholarship and 2 walk-ons in May 1997 despite going 69-7 in 96 and 97.
Yep - Pitiner had 3 scholarships open but couldn’t fill ‘em in 1997.

i have seen walk-on practicing in gym - about 6-9 245 and cut -no fat and he was hammering threes. i also watched him dribble full court and the guy can fly for a big man- might be the real deal- after watching i say give him a shot at earning our respect.GO CATS

Stats are fine, but you need to think before you post them. Pitino’s 81.4% was over for 7 years @ UK during the 90’s & more NCAA games then Tubby. While Tubby’s 82.9% @ UK was ONLY 3 years during the 90’s. So 81.4% over 7 years to 82.9% over 3 years is VERY GOOD. Once again another post that doesn’t hold water.
