I think there’s an old Chinese proverb that says something along the lines of “If you’re going to target young kids, make sure they don’t suck”. It was something Billy Gillispie didn’t adhere to nearly enough, but it’s something that John Calipari apparently keeps very close to his heart. And why wouldn’t he? It’s a Chinese proverb. That leads us to Theo Pinson, a North Carolina shooting guard rated by ESPN as the best player in the class of 2014. He’s also a player that, according to Zags Blog, has received some interest from Kentucky.
Though he’s a self-proclaimed Duke fan – don’t hold it against him, I had a poster of Blink 82 in their underwear in my room at that age – Pinson is listening to UConn, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse and Tennessee, as well as the Cats and Blue Devils. He’s 6’5″ and, according to his ESPN profile, is bound for stardom and can score the ball in a lot of different ways. If you think I’m a liar, then watch the video. Looks like another JWall. Why any kid that wants to go to the NBA through Duke is beyond me, Duke kids for the most part are horrible in the NBA. Coach K doesn’t recruit NBA style players, he only recruits kids that can play in his system & still make Duke grades; if the kids can do all that and still make it to the NBA then so be it.

Hard to believe the kid’s just entering his Sophmore year.
Pinson, Wayne Selden, Dakari Johnson, Andrew Wiggins, Leron Black, Jahlil Okafor, Quentin Snider, D’Angelo Russell…2014 targets are already taking shape and we don’t even have a 2012 commit yet.
