Who was the King of the mock drafters?

Every year, people who get paid to scout the NBA draft engage in a quest to harness their powers and be, for a shining moment, the most clairvoyant draft soothsayer. They pore over their mock drafts, knowing that they’ll have the opportunity to wake up on one glorious Friday each June as the best in their field. But who among us can truly gauge the quality of one of these future-tellers against the others? Surely, only a person versed in the highest levels of statistical anlysis. Or a person with a calculator and a little time on their hands.

One such blogger took on the burden of keeping score for the experts, and as it turns out, Draft Express, which has been linked on here roughly a million times, came out as far and away the best. If you’re interested in the guy’s formula, or just blindly believe anyone who writes a bunch of numbers down and want to look at the results, you can do so here.

But really, you’re not interested in that. I know what you are interested in, though. More mock drafts — for next year! — from the newly-crowned royalty in the draft forecasting business. Here’s where DE puts Kentucky’s guys in its 2012 draft, with links to their profiles:

1. Anthony Davis
7. Michael Gilchrist
13. Terrence Jones
20. Marquis Teague
41. Doron Lamb

You’re welcome.

  1. Bet Says:

2 out of those 5 will return and not enter the draft. My guess would be Lamb/Gilchrist

  2. Green giant Says:

If liggins and jorts can get drafted then miller is definitely going to get drafted

  3. Umm Says:

What’s the point of making 100 word posts? If there is nothing to post about, then don’t post anything.

  4. PillowTalk Says:

Miller is’nt as good as Liggins. He doesnt think so… which is why he wont get drafted actually.

  5. Mr Schwump Says:

Miller? Drafted? NBA? You musta never seen the guy play.

  6. Judge Roy Bean Says:

The law of posting has been established. Abide or hang!

  7. Judge Roy Bean Says:

Mr.Schwump is back. We call you the “Miller Killer.” You Sir, are an Idiot.

  8. Blasphemy Says:

There is more than one way of being correct. DE might be the most correct mock draft *right before* the actual draft (I actually have no clue which mock drafts the person took, initial, mid way, final, or an averaged mix). But who makes the best initial predictions? Best predictions right after everybody puts there name in and are “locked” into the draft.

  9. invisibleink Says:

i just saw on the ukathletics website that we are claiming 4 draftees … i wonder when the NCAA will formally ask us to remove the claim to Kanter ?

  10. invisibleink Says:

    ?

  11. invisibleink Says:

    !

  12. UKGoBigBlue Says:

3 of the 5 on the list aren’t even going to be allowed to enter the draft. The NBA lock out is going to be bad & long !! The owners especially small market owners want 2 & 20, and they’re going to get it; meaning you have to be in college at least 2 years & at least 20 years old to enter the draft. Why do you think Cal isn’t worried about not having a major long list of recruits to replace these kids for 2012 – 2013 class, he knows these kids won’t be going anywhere next year.

  13. 2012cats Says:

espn has those players going even higher than that

  14. BakoCat Says:

Are we becoming the Miami Heat of the NCAA?

  15. KD Says:

Next year there is alot of excellent talented players coming out not just KY Jones’ parents should not have listened to Cal he just wanted that kid back to try and bolster his chance of a trophy which will not happen that kid Jones will not be a top 10 pick.He should have left I hope the best for him but he has to try and outshine the other players coming in sad. Poor Darius defintly should have transferred to WKY would be a star.

  22. Rhymes With Thespian Says:

    9) i’ve been sayin

    12) the NBA will never ever require 2 yrs of college. Maybe a min age of 20 but not 2 yrs of college.

    15) fail

  23. buckster1 Says:

I guess if Draft Express is the winners. Fox sports is the biggest losers.
