Even without Trevor Lacey or Tony Woods in fold, Kentucky’s roster for next season is a thing of beauty and the mix of talent and experience is creating preseason national title excitement not seen for a long, long time. Gambling site Bodog.com is buying into the fun too, giving the Cats 13/2 odds to win the national title, second only to that salesman Roy Williams and his North Carolina Tar Heels. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, Trevor Lacey will announce later.
Here are the top eight teams in terms of odds to win the title:
North Carolina 7/2
Kentucky 13/2
Duke 8/1
Louisville 8/1
Ohio State 8/1
Syracuse: 12/1
Texas: 15/1
Florida: 18/1
Other teams of interest
Kansas: 20/1
Memphis: 20/1
Indiana: 30/1
Butler: 35/1
Vanderbilt: 35/1
Alabama: 60/1
Tennessee: 60/1
Cincinnati: 75/1
Minnesota: 75/1
Mississippi State: 75/1
Purdue: 75/1
Xavier: 75/1
Arkansas: 100/1
Georgia: 100/1
Mississippi: 125/1
LSU: 150/1
South Carolina: 150/1
Auburn: 200/1
Texas Tech: 200/1

Can someone please explain to me how a team can lose their best scorer, their talented inside player, that LOST in the FIRST ROUND to Morehead State be perceived preseaon to be so good?!?!?!!?!?
May 18th, 2011 at 1:16 pm
Someone please tell me how the HELL Louisville has that good of odds to win? I just don’t look at that team and think of a title contender, no matter what kind of “magic” Ricky pulled out of his ass last year.

you two must not have seen elisha’s abs!
May 18th, 2011 at 1:20 pm
it’s all a ploy by Vegas to get UL fans to “invest” in their team …

Hearing Lacey signed with Alabama on Twitter…
May 18th, 2011 at 1:22 pm
Word now in that “Lacey will sign with Alabama” Dang it!
May 18th, 2011 at 1:22 pm
Louisville lost in the first round last year… their class isnt good enough to put them in contender status imo. Blackshear and Behanan must’ve wowed someone.

unc is overrated, when we crush them in december everyone will know who is the real number 1.
May 18th, 2011 at 1:26 pm
if this lacey news is true that is disappointing. However i have to say good for Alabama. Grant will give Lacey a ton of pt and that will really help them, which at least is an SEC school gettin better.
May 18th, 2011 at 1:27 pm
Lacey musta figured out he had waaaay too much talent here at UK to compete with & get the playing time he wanted. Not a big surprise he’s not coming.
May 18th, 2011 at 1:30 pm
Lacey is too afraid to come here. If he is so good, then come and prove it and earn your playing time !
May 18th, 2011 at 1:31 pm
Good luck to Lacey. He wasn’t make or break for the Cats. Can’t wait for bball season. I think we will be the best team in the country! Go Big Blue (and sux it UNC)!

Indiana must be a typo. Thirty to one more like thirty trillion to one.
May 18th, 2011 at 1:37 pm
Lacey is afraid? You all are really takin that athetic approach. Maybe he liked the coach, its a home school, and he can be a starter. That makes him afraid?
May 18th, 2011 at 1:39 pm
9 – Yes, if he doesn’t go to UK, I want him to stay in our conference and away from Kansas. Grant is a class act.
But this happens every time we’re waiting for an announcement: a late rumor or “inside” information. Don’t listen to them. Just wait a little while longer and find out for sure.

From my sources, Trevor Lacey signed with Alabama this morning and is just waiting to announce infront of his friends and family. I wish the kid well but he really would have looked better in blue and white!
May 18th, 2011 at 1:44 pm
well thats why i said ”if true”
May 18th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Holy Crap. How bad are things for Tubby when TN has better odds? I have been out of the loop working too much–Tubby is still there, right? That makes no sense.
May 18th, 2011 at 1:51 pm
So if I bet $200 that Auburn does NOT win a title… will they pay me $1?
May 18th, 2011 at 2:00 pm
Auburn is 200/1 to have a winning season…
May 18th, 2011 at 3:57 pm
So Indiana has a better chance (30-1) to win the national championship than Vandy (35-1)???!!!!
May 18th, 2011 at 4:33 pm
Texas Tech 200:1
“So you’re saying there’s a chance…”
May 18th, 2011 at 5:06 pm
Indiana 30-1? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
May 18th, 2011 at 5:12 pm
IU must be 300/1, not 30/1. WTF.

Louisville is in the Big East.Odds megaqdratriple for a team from the greatest basketball conference of all time and Jesus Christ bows before them, only after Allah.

Odds are made to entice betting, not what Vegas actually thinks will happen. Explains ul’s and iu’s good odds
