As I was perusing the lines for this Saturday’s games and looking for some winners, I was SHOCKED at the UK line. South Carolina a three point favorite? Are you kidding me? I understand that South Carolina can win the game….but UK is at home, coming off a good Alabama performance and South Carolina has been only solid for one game this season (the last one). I can see calling the Cats a favorite….I can see calling the game a toss-up. But in Commonwealth Stadium, the Cats cant be a three point dog….that is saying they are a 6 point dog on a neutral field. That to me, is impossible.
Yes beating Spurrier will be hard. But I look at sports wagering as a “if they played 100 times, what would happen” type of deal. The median performance for 100 games, is not the Cocks by 3 (in my view, the Cats win this game 58 out of 100 times….very scientific formulation by the way). What does that mean? Load up on the Cats.

Vegas has never liked UK football… NEVER.

Yeah I guess “Vegas” is prejudice against UK football rather than attempting to make a profit on the spread.

Spreads are set by “trends” regardless of the difference in teams. The “trend” is that Spurrier has had our number, so he has a way to beat us. Not that I believe it because every team and year is different but there is a lot to be said about how close the odds makers get on their predictions.
The odds makers do this for a living and we (gamblers) try to make a living gambling. They did not build those big buildings and lights everywhere by being stupid.
There are a lot of people licking their chops at this line and I hope the CATS make fools out of the odds makers.
Go Cats (and welcome aboard Daniel. LOL)

#4 Exactly. It isn’t Vegas, its the people betting in Vegas. Vegas makes their money regardless and the odds reflect that.

Odds=spread

Wait are we talking about the blonde nicknamed “Cocky”? She is easy on the eyes.
This is the CATS year against Spurrier. Take the CATS and the Points to the Bank ( or maybe the Credit Union would be safer)!

Your right, but the spread is set to get the money flowing at a level that is equal. UK fans look at this and say, “Are you kidding me?” (Like Jonesy and the rest of us) while the Rednecked Cocky Nation (by the way, Columbia is the Armpit of the south–worse place I have ever visited) believes that they will crush UK’s hopes on the last play of the game or fore 47 turnovers like last year.
In the end, Vegas wins and they have started the ball rolling. This spread will surely change once the money starts rolling in. It makes no sense how they determined this except by looking at the “trends”.

Until UK can actually move the ball, they deserve to be dogs. So far they have given no indication that they can score (or even move the ball) against any SEC caliber defenses.

The line opened Tuesday at Uk by 1 but it has been hammered by people betting the Cocks. Thats why its been such a big shift

TITTIES!!

UK is going to win this game…just a feeling.

The spread against Alabama was 16.5. How’d that work out. Cats will win!

Hey Matt good to know I’m not alone on the crazy sports betting formulations. However, I must admit the one you presented was actually feasible. I love home dogs when the teams are evenly matched. We owe them from last time they visited the Commonwealth.

This is a MUST win for the Cats, and I hope they play like it.

Actually I saw the line earlier this week with the CATS as a 2.5 favorite. So what has happened is that people don’t
know college football other than the elite teams and they see Kentucky as still a doormat team and they see that Spurrier
is at South Carolina so they bet Carolina. So much was bet on Carolina apparently that the line has changed? I’m not
a big gambler, but if I were I’d bet the farm on the CATS and 3 points.
Here’s to us ending Spurrier’s time as coach at USCjr, cause if they lose this game, they will be calling for his job.
