The families of UK’s four All-American signees, Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Kyle Wiltjer, have issued a joint statement regarding their decision to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic instead of appearing in Louisville for the local high school all-star exhibition.
Here is the statement:
“We are honored that our sons have been considered for so many prestigious all-star games but the NCAA only allows them to play in two such events. Anthony, Michael, Marquis and Kyle will fulfill their lifelong dreams of playing in the McDonald’s All-American game and the Jordan Brand Classic.”
Take that, Bozich!

Maybe Lacey will play in the dcc!
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:48 pm
Should have ended with: BOZICH PLEASE
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:49 pm
These kids deserve to play in the McDonalds and Jordan games. Don’t blame them for not wanting to play in the Derby Classic which I’m sure they’ve never heard of.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:49 pm
LMAO…I guess that means noone with the exception of line beards, flatbilled hat wearers, and girlfriend father beaters will be in attendence…..But I do hear that they’re going to give Tazer Tag endorsments at the half time show of the Derby Classic.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:50 pm
Damn, every time I see Betty Davis eyes …oops, I mean Anthony Davis-Eyes…I think of jeepers creepers. The monster would have been in hog heaven with those peeps.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:54 pm
I believe they are trying to get Trevor Lacey and DeAndre Daniels in the DCC.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:54 pm
I have no problem with this at all. At least television awaits for those of us that can’t make it to Louisville for the Derby Classic. For anyone to expect these kids to ditch those two games is just ridiculous. I look forward to the McDonalds and Jordan games being filled with future Cats.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:56 pm
DeAndre Daniels… which year will he be there?
Reminds me..my head still hurts thinking back when the dude was gonna be eligible, play, senior, junior,…sonofa
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:58 pm
Maybe Old school knows of a few guys in the “Hollers” that’ll play in the DCC
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:00 pm
15. They cant, I dont think the DCC allows knee-high socks with two strips at the top. I could be wrong tho
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:01 pm
bozich is a giant tool sack
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:02 pm
You act like this is good news. It is dissapointing that none of the players will be in the Derby Festival Classic. I have no problem at all with Bozich’s article. You live in a blue tinted world my friend.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:02 pm
Did anyone else read that “Bo-zilch” article? What a damn moron!
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:04 pm
Bozich = Tipton?
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:04 pm
18…huh? You just don’t get it.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:04 pm
These kids grew up with dreams of playing the McD’s game and the Jordan game. So I don’t blame them from choosing those over a game they’ve probably never heard of.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:05 pm
It seems the four young men and their families have gone out of their way to satisfy the very few who do not understand why they would want to attend the McDonald’s and Jordan games. This should be a proud time for WILDCAT fans to have ALL 4 of the signed members of the existing UK recruiting class selected for both; not to mention all 4 have also been selected for the USA vs. The World Game, not certain the correct name of the game. Enjoy these young men there may be another Chuck or PPat in this class, heck maybe all 4.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:06 pm
18, you sound like that could be a bad thing. I love my Blue Tints!
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:08 pm
BREAKING NEWS: All four of UK’s 2011-2012 signees have been selected to participate in the McDonald’s All-American game. Still waiting on word of a possibility of the quartet heading to the Jordan Brand Classic or the Derby Classic Festival.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:09 pm
They just realize that with ZERO UK recruits in the game, it won’t come close to being half-sold. And I can’t blame our recruits for pass up playing in the DCFC. No kid says NO to playing in the McDAA game, and every kids wants to meet MJ.
And bozich couldn’t write his way out of a nutsack.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Shoot, there’ll be some IU fans….wait they don’t travel that well, well how about…..Western folks, it’s just a rock throw away, and of course you have Loserville fans, but that’s only if they can get the ankle braclets off. (Both players and fans)
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:11 pm
Read the comments section on Bozich’s article. Its hilarious, Louisville fans are so priceless. They just make it too easy sometimes.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:14 pm
It is laughable that anyone made a big enough deal about these kids picking McDonald’s and Jordan games over the Derby Classic. Anyone would have made the same decision.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:15 pm
I don’t think I’ll understand why COMMITTING to play at UK isn’t good enough for some people. Get off your high horses.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:17 pm
Bozich just trying to stir shit up what a douche bag
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:18 pm
this is a no-brainer for these kids … and they’re making the RIGHT choice
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:18 pm
28 – Loserville fans do have a point. It is a total slap in the face to UK fans. I mean, c’mon, they’re only playing in the 2 most prestigious allstar games for highschool basketball players, both of which are on ESPN. What a bunch of jerks, playing in the two best allstar games.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:20 pm
It’s kind of a shame they had to issue a statement to begin with. So what if they’re not playing in the DC? As long as they’re dressed in Kentucky Blue to start the season, I could care less what tournament(s) they play in.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:25 pm
I think it is GREAT that these 4 recruits sent out a joint message. They are already playing as a team!
Blame the NCAA for limiting their play to 2 games.
UK fans need to feel honored that these guys are coming in next year.
Class act!
Go Big Blue!

What he said, but I wouldn’t have been so nice.
Hey kid, you want to meet Michael Jordan and other sports heroes, get free Jordan gear and gifts, and play on NATIONAL TELEVISION AGAINST THE BEST OF THE BEST? or go to Louisville, KY and make a few hundred fans happy?
dumbasses…
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:25 pm
32, that’s hitting the “NAIL” right on the head!
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:26 pm
33 – I see your point. I mean seriously they’re only going play 16-18 games in Rupp next year. They OWE it to US to play at the Yum Brothel and Chicken shack! How dare they!!!
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:28 pm
I didn’t know by accepting a schlorship to UK they were required to play in the Derby Classic. Seems not that many of UK’s recruits in the past have. I don’t see the issue except for haters being haters as they always are against Kentucky. Wonder if Cal will be rumored to be going to coach the Knicks this off season? haha
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:28 pm
Who cares? All of these games are just a “free for all” anyways. No defense, just a run and gun, and showboat contest. I likely won’t watch any of them because they don’t show any of the real talents (especially on defense) of any of the players. And i don’t blame them for not playing hard-none of these games are worth taking a chance of getting hurt, might as well pick the one that is most popular nationwide and give them the best exposure. The Loserville fans will see plenty of the future Cats once they get here. Rock on, Cats.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:34 pm
38 – For Real!!!!!! Who wants to meet Michael Jordan anyway? He’s soooooooo 1993.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:34 pm
Do we expect any less from Bozich? He and Forde shared a lousy show on Insight’s channel before Matt bumped them out…
Can’t stand either of those biased jerks! Give me Jay Bilas or Lunardi any day…
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:34 pm
I’m sorry to the locals, but the Derby game is always filled with second tier talent. Why would they forgo the big time, just to play in front of Louisville fans? It only helps our recruiting going forward for them to play on the big stage anyways. I doubt any of the Top 2012-2013 guys even know what the Derby Game is. The only time they’d hear about it was if they got skipped over for the real games.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:35 pm
As long as they are in blue and white next year running and gunning, slamming and jamming its all good.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:36 pm
which is better … our ENTIRE RECRUITING CLASS playing on NATIONAL TELEVEISION…TWICE… for the rest of the college BB world to envy / talk about / generate buzz / continue recruiting efforts for future classes … or these kids to play in the DC ?
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:38 pm
Is Rick Bozich Not Jerry Tipton?
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:40 pm
Hahahahaaa I love it that no Kentucky fans are mad.
Just Bozich.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:40 pm
28 & 33— ahhh my proteges use their well timed satire to make everyone else look like loserville dumbasses.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:43 pm
Even I would have chosen the Mac & MJ game. Anyone who thinks 4 guys who never heard of the DCC would chose anything but the MJ & Mac games are delusional.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:45 pm
throw it back @ the fans, you get an “all-paid” expense towards two of the high school all-star games…which two do the fans pick???
Chicago, IL – McDonald’s All American (United Center)
Charlotte, NC – Jordan Brand Classic (Time Warner Cable Arena)
Louisville, KY – Derby City Classic (KFC Yum Center)
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:45 pm
No worries guys! Stay healthy and we will see you in the blue and white soon enough. BTW: Most UK fans don’t like going to Louisville either.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:46 pm
I’m meeting a lot of UL fans in here.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:47 pm
You know, Anthony Davis is probably a really cool guy and all… but he has a funky uni-brow.
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:49 pm
Its a NO Brainer, if someone offers you a new Cadillac or a Yugo which one do you take?
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:52 pm
Don’t worry, when Louisville comes to Rupp next year for their 40 minute beatdown, they will wish they had never seen this quartet!
February 22nd, 2011 at 2:56 pm
I endured endless mockery from several tard-fan friends, back in 94′, because UK didn’t feature any players in that year’s Derby Classic. Then, Antoine Walker showed up on campus, the following season. The rest is history. Who’s laughing last? ON ON, UofK!!!
February 22nd, 2011 at 3:05 pm
More Big Girls Sales ads Please!!!
February 22nd, 2011 at 3:14 pm
Once again rival fans have their panties in a wad and are more upset at these player’s “perceived” slight of UK, its fans, and tradition than are UK fans themselves. Doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know?
February 22nd, 2011 at 3:41 pm
UofL fans just want to feel big and important too. The KY derby is the big thing in Louisville. Now the Chicken Shack is a big thing too. So they want “respect” for the Derby Classic held in the Chicken Shack. I see the logic. The problem is it will never happen.
February 22nd, 2011 at 4:01 pm
Hope these guys make the NBA because they won’t make the runway.
February 22nd, 2011 at 4:19 pm
Am I the only person who thinks that Kyle Wiltjer looks like Draco Malfoy?
February 22nd, 2011 at 5:35 pm
Don’t forget the warm and classy welcome the Louisville fans always give the UK recruits. Sad that these four young men won’t be able to experience that.
February 22nd, 2011 at 6:09 pm
Fear the unibrow!
February 22nd, 2011 at 6:47 pm
Can we get a Facebook campaign started to get rid of that unibrow?
February 23rd, 2011 at 1:10 am
I hope Lamb stays so he can hook up Davis with his salon.
