Cats Wrap-up Another Carolinian

by @ 2:31 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Sims is also a member of Run-DMC

In what appears to be another recruiting dividend paid by the UL bludgeoning, UK just received its 20th (I think) commitment, gaining a verbal from St. Matthews (SC) Calhoun County’s David Sims. Shouts to Rob Gidel, who broke the story.

Sims plays QB but is listed as an “athlete.” He could play any number of positions, but he comes to the Cats as a running back.

Here’s his Rivals profile. Notice, he chose the Cats over several worth BCS-ers.

(Sorry, the ShowStoppa was some completely different dude. He was pretty good, though.)

it just keeps getting better…another 3* added to the mix..this staff is getting the job done and UK will be very competitive for years to come.

http://www.goupstate.com/article/20080824/PSPORTS02/208/0/NEWS - Look at all the teams we beat out for his services. Great news for Kentucky

  8. Irwin R. Fletcher Says:

Looks like Calhoun County could use a new instructor in A/V class…. the virtues of focus, pan, tracking, and the “tight shot” have apparently fallen by the wayside.

  9. The 5 Star Dribbler Says:

BCG has nothing on Papa Brooks and Joker. Go CATS!

  10. NoSoupForYou Says:

    Wow, things are looking great.
Does anyone know anything about our chances with Mike Marry?

  11. Billy G-rated Says:

Another 3 star, yes… but this staff shows it can take 2 star kids and turn them into 3 star talent, and 3 star recruits turn into 4 star talent. If we can get a few 5 star recruits, lookout! Great job gettin’ em and more importantly, coachin’ em up!

  12. IkeDaddyUK Says:

Kind of reminds me of Vince Young with the way he runs.

  13. the ghost of Bill Hicks Says:

12- you mean shirtless, holding a 40 and surrounded by guys?

  15. coachholland Says:

Not only a three star recruit, but a *very* high three star. .1 of a point away from being a four star on Rivals. His stock may improve as the season goes on.

  16. WAMPUSCAT Says:

i cant wait till saturday 3 years from now.

  17. yellowshirt11 Says:

Anyone know if there are different grade requirements to play in the big 10 as opposed to the sec

  18. SagaciousMind Says:

Dude runs a 4.46…it’s amazing how this staff is landing all these fast guys. Teams in the SEC better watch out for UK in the future.

  19. bluegrassjohnny Says:

you ain’t cool unless you commit to UK

  20. SagaciousMind Says:

Oh, and does anyone else find it amusing that we stole another one from Steve Spurrier…and the guy is from SC? lol I bet he hates UK really bad, especially after all the recruits we’ve reeled in that he was after as well. According to Scout, he even attended their camp.

  21. SagaciousMind Says:

And according to Scout’s commitment list, he’s the 19th.

  22. WAMPUSCAT Says:

20..have you seen the thumping he has given us for oh say the last 20 years? he has no reason to hate. we pull off a W this year..then i say we get on his radar.

  23. MuhlenberCountyCAT Says:

This kid has the exact same rank as Morgan Newton on Rivals being a 5.7. That is a high three star guy. He is the third best commit in the class so far. Mossy is the highest as 5.9 on Rivals. On Scout Newton is the highest with a 5 star ranking. No matter what star or what not this kid looks to be a really good pick up. GO CATS.

  24. ransmith Says:

#18, that is a good point about the speed level. Not long ago we were reaching to get size, now we are getting size, and speed!

Three star kids are good solid kids, good level of talent, yet their heads are not so massively inflated, they typically listen, and you can coach and develop them. As we keep building, we should be able to pull in more 4 and 5 star kids to add into the mix.

Brooks I feel will build this program more before he retires, I feel he will firmly get us into the middle 1/3 of the SEC teams, which is good! Look at what Alabama just did with the best team in the ACC. Look at what Florida and LSU did to Ohio State the last two seasons! From there Joker may well make the push to move up into the top 4 or 5 SEC teams. You know, if Mitch had not first hired, and then stuck with Brooks, and gave him a good chance to develop this program, we would not be in this position now.

Best of all of this, Brooks and his staff is doing this without a big influx of thug type behavior!

  25. VinDatuk Says:

The 20th might be Donte Rumph, who, coincidentally is from SC
and I think might be from Calhoun County. St. Matthews is small I
will tell you that much. I mean really small to be producing these guys.

  26. SagaciousMind Says:

22, the past is exactly that…the past. All that matters is what we are doin now and that is stealing recruits from him and I am sure he hates the fact that since he has been “thumping” us for so long and now we are stealing recruits. And, I see a W coming at home against the Gamecocks.

  27. MuhlenberCountyCAT Says:

#27 Please stop with the MM crap. We almost had a whole post about a recruit without someone mentioning MM. Until you. Please stop.

  28. nsclcctl Says:

I am glad to see Rob Gidel broke the story. I was hoping he had another job other than announcing
Legends games. I threw my sleep aids away recently, I just tape Gidel broadcasts and turn them on a low
droon and count animals with fluffy fur. By the way, anybody else wonder why we have such a lousey single
A baseball franchise? Oh my God what a waste of oxygen.

  29. luck Says:

    luck…
