Bad day for former UK QB’s

by @ 6:53 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Hate to pile on like this but not only has Andre Woodson been cut by the Giants, but Jared Lorenzen was waived by the Colts, and Shane Boyd has been waived by the Texans.

If it makes you feel any better, a rough count has 7 former UL players cut, but the 3 former UK players are the only one’s I have seen released.

    Ouch

  4. drmarc Says:

I thought Lorenzen was better than Gray, disappointing.

  5. BIGMONEY Says:

4 ur crazy gray is good! Its a good thing we got our QBs while the threesome was still in the league!!

  6. Lexcat Says:

Michigan got beat again in the opener,I just love that…lol

  7. TrueBlueBeliever Says:

Pinner was let go also… Bad day for the ex boys in blue.

  8. GoCats Says:

The Colts never will understand what an essential part of the sidelines Lorenzen was for the Giants. I heard him tell Eli before that last play that if he is able to escape the sack, wing it down field and he will catch it with his helmet. Lorenzen deserves all the credit for the Giants Super Bowl win. Go Cats! Crush the Cards!

  9. TonyDelk00 Says:

Son of a f****** b*tch, what is this world coming to?

  10. pacadermatologismystic cat Says:

SO, now that Bama is wiping the field with Clempsun, which one of you bright bulbs wanna tell me again how we’re gonna win in T-town?

I told you fools. Don’t sleep on Bama.

  11. BillyClyde4President Says:

At least J-Slow got to cash in on some NFL dollars. I also hope Andre and Shane can land another gig.

  12. drmarc Says:

5, well.. Gray tossed a record 4 intercepts in one preseason game and that was in a half’s worth of play. I wasn’t impressed with him. Perhaps I am crazy and just wearing blue colored glasses… lol..

  13. BIGMONEY Says:

At least Gray has actually played some! lol I got those same glasses but im realistic and not overbiased

  14. The Man Says:

    #5
    Gray had twice as many interceptions as Lorenzen (6 - 3), the same amount of TD’s (2 - 2), a lower completion percentage (49.4% - 54.3%) and a lower QB rating (49.5 - 61.0).

    Yeah, Gray sounds much better.

  15. bubbleup Says:

    Woodyard made the Broncos.

  16. indycat Says:

Why are you guys talking about Gray? He was cut also. Jared was wasn’t able to move the team the last two games. At least Tamme made the team.

  17. indycat Says:

    Stevie was not let loose.

  18. toddpacker Says:

I hope Lorenzen catches on elsewhere, but man I was dissapointed in what I saw in Woodson. I saw him in twice, and I think he threw a real bad pick in one at the end of a game, and the other time he didnt look good. Its a shame, maybe he can rebound in another league and make it back soon.

  19. ikeeveready Says:

10-It’s not that Bama was THAT good in this game but Clemsons line, BOTH OF THEM, are really, really bad. They had no explosion off the ball from either side, never effectively running the ball and never pressuring JP Wilson. Not to mention that their secondary gave a 10 yd cushion on every damn 3rd & 4-6 that Bama had. That game was too easy for Bama.

Once again “Bobby’s Boy” proves who can definitely do less with more talent than anybody in the country.

Don’t get me wrong, Bamas decent but their not great. 6-8th best in the SEC.

MSU lost to La Tech. Looks like that may swing to the win column for the Cats in Starkville.

  20. pacadermatologismystic cat Says:

19- Well, they beat the stink off the #9 team in the country last night while playing 10 frosh. Clemson is stacked with talent on both lines, so is Bama, but Bama has a real coach.

Again, I stand by my statement, Bama will prison rape UK in Tuscaloosa.

  21. ikeeveready Says:

Seems like I remember beating a more talented #9 team in the country fresh off an Orange Bowl win last season. Granted with a better offense but a similar D. Not to mention the eventual National Champions.

Tommy Bowden even said they had a “new” offensive line.

The Cats may catch a beating but I like their chances for an upset IF the Offense can get going and build some confidence.

Talent gets you about half way but coaching gets you home and right now Bamas offense looks awfully vanilla. Have some faith in the Joker.

  22. sortleader2 Says:

Point conceded 20. Bama looked good. They have dominent line play and have actually entered the new millenium by throwing the ball vertically to a wide receiver. Having Julio Jones is a plus. Bama is back. Allow the Cats to turn your head and impress you in turn this afternoon pacaderm.

  23. sortleader2 Says:

I am surprised all the cuts of the ex-Cats in the NFL has yet to be some how blamed on Tubby?

  24. pacadermatologismystic cat Says:

22- Ky will win 7 games this year, UL being one of them, I have no doubt. What ills me is the utter disregard for Bama by Ky fans.

There is a certain mystique that surrounds the Bama football team and it is very, eerily, similar to the mystique that surrounds UK basketball. They find ways to win when the chips are down…I’ve seen it too many times. This is the first time since Dubose that Bama has had all it’s ducks in a row and a roster FULL of studs. They have stability for the first time in a long time, and that spells danger for the rest of the conference. Bama, their fans, students, alumni and players are all STARVING for a return to national prominence. Very hungry. And that combination will trump what UK does for a few more years to come. As for the passing game comment, those recievers (sans Julio) were put in place by Shula a few years back. Have you already forgotten about Prothro and Milons? And as for the beating #9 comment, if Bama had to come to Commonwealth to play, I might sing a different song.

I hope Bama beats UGA the week before we get them and I hope we beat the piss out of them, but I just don’t see it.

  25. ikeeveready Says:

Believe me paca I am right there with you on the mystique. The Cats let the bear go to help create the legen that is Alabama football. I just don’t want to crown them just yet an make them the class ofthe SEC west because of a win over what looked to be a highly overrated Clemson team. I just think we may have a shot to get that signature road win. A shot thats it.

  26. sortleader2 Says:

Finally, a smart and well-conceived post by a fan of an opposing team. How dare you raise the level of discourse on this blog? I look forward to the back-and-forth to come in the months ahead. I agree that UK basketball & Bama pigskin are eerily similar. Both in their fall from national relevance to a “New Hope” with their respective second year coaches. Don’t take this wrong, but, nuts to you pacaderm!

  27. wallywildcat Says:

#10-what the hell does that have to do with the former UK QBs getting the boot?

Let’s just watch the UK/Bama game and go from there.
