Surprising news from New York as the Giants have decided to keep only two quarterbacks and Andre Woodson has been cut from the team. Tough break for a guy who has really seen his stock fall in the last year. Hopefully another team will sign him on soon.
And say a prayer for the folks in the Gulf Coast as Hurricane Gustav looks to be a biggie….

Someone will pick him up and take a chance. NFL is a business that takes risks on players many times. If J.T. O’Sullivan can play in the NFL, so can Dre.

Good call, 5. If Kyle Orton is your best option, Andre’ has to look suitable as a backup.

Someone will give him a chance, I think this is great for him if he gets picked up. I just don’t see him getting a chance to make a statement for himself behind Eli.

not suprising to me! he was taken by a team that has a Super Bowl winning QB with the last name Manning and had 4 other QBs I think on roster! Not suprising

Thanks for the info #15,really surprised they are going into the season with just two quarterbacks,guess they will pick someone up along the way.

16) They’ll pick up Andre’ or someone for the practice team if no one else picks him up. Then, if the worst happens to one of their two QBs, they have a guy still in the system, but not on the roster.
Of course, if they lost both QBs in a game, you’ve got a WR or RB taking snaps that probably hasn’t done so in a few years (former College QBs on the roster?)

The blame to me lies all on the Giants for trying to fix the “hitch” that Andre has always had and made him the Qb he was before the Giants screwed him up.

#18,Woodson has always had some issues with his mechanics,even at UK.#19 I was not surprised the giants cut Woodson,just the fact they are only taking two qb’s into the start of the season.

It is not uncommon for teams to go with two QBs especially when they have a #1 that is not injury prone (Eli, Peyton, Vince Young) and a solid backup (Carr, Sorgi, Collins). I’m not surprised at all for these team to go with two. Not sure what the Texans are doing but if they are going with only two as well, that would be at least 3 out of the 4 teams in the AFC South going with two QBs. Interesting!

Mike Martz sucks. He cost Dre Millions in the senior bowl. Andre has to work on his pocket presence and escaping the rush. It wasn’t good last year with the Cats and it hasn’t gotten any better unfortunatley. Wish him and big fat fatty all the best. Can’t leave out Boyd.

I love Andre and what he did for the Wildcats. Wish him the best and hope he at least got paid for all the work he just did, but I have always thought he had four of the best Seniors in the nation to throw to and a junior that I hope will surprise some people this year.

To be honest I dont think Woodson will make a team ever unless he gets more mobile and gets rid of that hitch and get a faster release! He should try the AFL

Completely baffling. With all the rag armed back up QB’s I see in the NFL, not to mention some of the starters, how can a guy with a gun like Woodson not even make a roster.

He also had the nations longest streak of completions without an interception while playing in the toughest conference. That wasn’t all because of his receivers.

#11-Culpepper is old as dirt, broke all the time and is fat. Neither of those fit Woodsons bio.
I hope he lands on a practice squad…he needs the work.
