OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that’s neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious “that’s what she said” in the headline.
We’d also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in ‘A’ or ‘B’ because these early ones might suck a little.
Marcus is in charge of remembering the footballs. Mission accomplished!

Unfair comparison to NFL-er: Though not a player in the NFL, Marcus McClinton resembles ex-UK safety and wearer of jersey #2 Quentus Cumby. If anyone has video of Cumby decapitating that Florida receiver in ‘02, that’d be nice here.
Most interesting fact from his media guide bio: Not really the fact that’s so interesting, rather the presentation. From the media guide: “Enjoys singing as a hobby, and made his own music video.”
Something we made up about him: Wanted more cowbell in “Believe.”
Items of legitimate interest: Has been the starting safety off and on for three years when his health permitted. Had seven tackles against Louisville and a sweet pick against Arkansas. Also has six career interceptions.
Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions: Will lead an experienced group of defensive backs.

1. Not really a surprising ranking considering those that don’t follow the program quite as closely probably only see all the big names that UK lost from last year. The more important ranking will come at the end of the year, and my guess is that it will be much better.
