Marc Maggard reports today that Brad Reese, who had committed to UK a couple of weeks ago, was not able to become eligible next season for UK and now will not be coming to Lexington. Reese joins Tyrone Nash, Chad Gray and countless others on the list of players we may never know again….

He committed a couple of weeks ago?
Nash never committed. He said no to the Tub.

Glad to see that you are giving credit where it is due (to MM) and taking the high road with him. I am not so sure that I would have been able to do that without taking a few jabs. I really wish I could like the guy. I have tried a few times over the past few weeks to see what is happening on his board but it turns into him calling people names and his “ego” comes through. I am starting to believe that “Aaron’s blog” is one of the best. He simply posts articles and keeps the commentary out of it. Quite refreshing at times. That being said, I like what you guys do and it is extremely entertaining to say the least.

2) I agree with you. Aaron’s blog is my favorite UK site. I love the fact that he finds articles about the Cats that do not appear locally.

How sure is Marc that he actually committed? I dont really believe anything he says anyway. If you disagree with him there is hell to pay and most of the time I think his info is wrong anyway. Anyone who starts their site out for free then changes their mind and makes you pay is only after one thing anyway. I wouldnt pay for his information.

You know, I’m kind of glad this fell through. Brad Green is way to boring a name. Bring the Kelenna’s, Tayshaun’s, Lukas’, and Shagari’s in so we can have fun with their nams. What would you do with Brad Green?

Hey Matt!!!! Saw the Gatorade East vs West Allstar game the Saturday night. I’m here to tell you, Jacob Jenkins IS THE TOP PLAYER IN KENTUCKY RIGHT NOW! He put on a show and it was more than just shooting. He scored in every way possible. Hitting drives, fadeways, long-threes, and showed off some athletism with some high flying finishes. He had an insane pass that had the crowd going and was literally doing it all. Mark it down. Jenkins wins Mr. Basketball regardless of the politics and he’s better than half the commits UK already has. THAT’S THE FACT JACK!

I’m just sayin that you just added another recruit to the mix. Brad Green, Brad Reese etc. I was listening to Matt on streaming audio (since I live in AZ) and he was referring to him as Greg Reese. Since no one has heard of him, I see how it is easy to mess up a name.

Isn’t Jenkins going to be a senior? The competition for player of the year would probably be Euton who is a junior. Why would a senior winning Mr. Basketball over a junior be shocking?

#6 — thanks for the update, Mr. Jenkins.

I can’t help thinking we probably dodged a bullet with Reese. He gave me a desperation Tubby type of signing. Save it for 2009 where we are in on studs, nobody expects to win the NC next year.

#9 Hardly…It’s funny how it goes though. I kept doubting until I saw the progress. It’ll be tough though with the UK stamp with Hood.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:59 pm
there is a little fella named Jon Hood who will have something to say about that
July 21st, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Yeah I was wondering if Cal4UK forgot about Jon Hood. Jenkins may of had a good game, but everyone has been raving about Hood when they see him play. He is the favorite for Mr. Basketball and will probably win it if he keeps playing like he has. And I doubt Jenkins is better than Hood.

#13 Didn’t forget Hood in the least. He’s the UK commit in the ‘09 class. I’m from Louisville and root for the Louisville player. Jenkins MAY be the better player right now but Hood gets the limelight with the UK tag. After seeing the Allstar game and talking to a few “voters” Jenkins is in the mix and Hood and Jenkins will both be on the floor at the KOB and LIT together and its gonna be fun to see how it goes. Jenkins won’t go quietly that’s for sure.

I don’t think Hood will win Mr. Basketball because he chose to go to UK - his talent is what will win that.
For those who are freaking about scholarships - this stuff seems to work out. I don’t see our coach giving a scholarship to someone who isn’t around the same talent level as those available next year, aside from Orton and Wall. That said, I don’t think Wall is coming here and Orton will only if Patterson leaves, which would work out.

What commits is he better than 14? From what I have seen he is not better than Hood (UK tag or not), our only other 09 recruit is Vilarino. So you are saying he is better than Vilarino?

When did it become so hard to qualify? Doesn’t it seem like this year has had a really high number of kids that couldn’t qualify or were struggling to do so?
July 21st, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Prepare to be pissed, Cat fans: ESPN is doing a rundown ranking the most prestigious college basketball programs. How much you wanna bet UK gets screwed? They’ll probably rank Florida ahead of us, because “Billy Donovan’s a winner baybee!”
July 21st, 2008 at 4:44 pm
10.) I expect to win every year!

#2, MM changes his story every 2 seconds when its convinent and makes him look good. I dont see why people like you kiss his a$$ every second of every day. The man is a used car salesman, he tells you one thing, then turns around and tells you another and say he never told you the first thing to begin with. Kinda like how he said his site would “NEVER” go pay.

18. I don’t expect any lower than #4 on that list. I think a reasonable person could make a case for unc, duke and ucla being more prestigious than us. I wouldn’t make that case but I could are that.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:01 am
It isn’t really prestige… it’s most accomplished since 1985. Duke will be #1, 2-5 will be us, UNC, Kansas or UConn.
