Jared and Ramon are doing their thing in Africa and they found a little time during their goodwill duties to defeat the Senegal National Team, 76-64.  According to the AIA blog, the big man from Scott County put up a team-high 15 points and our man Ramon chipped in with 8.  Now, they’re off to Mali, where they will take on the national teams of Mali, Guinea and the country that translates to “Ivory Coast” in a tournament hosted by the Malian Basketball Federation.

Here is how the scoring brokedown against Senegal:

Jake Diebler, Valparaiso University - 5 points
Jesse Sanders, Liberty University - 3 points
Shane Dansby, Belmont University - 14 points
Danero Thomas, Murray State - 4 points
Ian O’Leary, St Marys, CA - DNP
Ramon Harris, University of Kentucky - 8 points
Urule Igbavboa, Valparaiso University - 11 points
Jay Watkins, Southern Idaho - 8
Julian Gamble, University of Miami - 13 points
Jared Carter, University of Kentucky - 15 points

Just keep in mind, as it is easy to want to take cheap shots at Carter, that him and Harris are doing this as part of a mission trip. Carter may never amount to much basketball-wise, but at least he’s a man of character who is representing the University of Kentucky with class.

    #1 No

#9 Finally. It’s about damn time he “shat or got off the pot”.

  15. Garrett12 Says:

    Sorry Coach!! #13

  16. Garrett12 Says:

No offense but people was always talking about Jasper how good he was but to tell you the truth he sucked if you ask me I don’t think he could hit the right side of a barn he even knew he couldn’t and thats probably one of the reasons he is leaving UK

  17. UKCatFan01ABC Says:

I think it’s not so much about how good Jasper is but that he’s better than Porter. He was already here, he was better than Porter and you hate to see him walk away just for that reason.
It got to the point last year that if Porter was in and the Cats got got a turnover or had anything that resembled a fast break, I would cringe and watch with one eye just waiting for things to fall apart.
And it’s not about whether they’re good guys or not. They could be great guys, smart, cool to be around etc. But that doesn’t mean they can play college ball at the highest level. If UK wants to regain it’s position as a premier, top basketball school, we need better talent than what OTS left us last year. I like OTS well enough, but I do think our lack of talent and lack of depth this past year was his fault.

    Go Cats.

  18. pookster85 Says:

Better talent? We’ve begged for Jasper to stay. Begged for Meeks to get healthy. Watched Stevenson grow. Are these Coach Gillespi’s????? Well they are now. With good coaches you never know how good Carter will get. Nazr Mohommed (spelling?) was not a good player, his coaches created a monster. Carter could surprise a lot of people. I’d love to see what Alleyne would have done with these coaches. I’m sick of people saying he won’t make it because of Tubby. Get over it.
