In news that has to make the Turkey Hunter happy, word comes this week that Bobby Perry’s shorter cousin Dwight Perry (yes his real name is Dwight) will be attending UK and playing for the basketball team as a walk on. The younger Perry played for the same high school as his cousin, averaging 10 points a game and according to his coach playing “with grit.” I never get excited about walk-ons because they rarely matter (even Ravi Moss ended up just frustrating me) but one can never get enough Perrys on the team. If Bobby is the “Future”, we need to figure out what Dwight is. Any suggestions?
And as for Bobby, he was one of 100 student athletes named to an NCAA commission that will be meeting to talk about student-athlete reforms. For those of you who have never seen these commissions, they are usually filled with swimmers, track folks, volleyball players, etc and the NCAA searches far and wide to find one or two basketball and football players who wont embarass them. Shane Battier did this to much fanfare a few years ago, and now Bobby will be the college basketball guy for the new year. It actually is quite an honor and I hope UK fans will recognize it before commencing their complaining that he is not worth a scholarship.
Bobby Perry will be the backbone of the UK team next season…..wait and see.

Actually Bobby played for Hillside HS and Dwight played for Southern HS.
Bobby broke John Lucas’ and Rodney Rogers’ scoring and rebounding records at Hillside.
