It’s official. The recruiting terror level for opposing coaches has been raised to red. UK just got a commitment from a five-star player who has never even visited campus. Unbelievable.
He said he felt his versatility will fit in well with UK’s system and that he wanted to surround himself with the best players. Sounds like Kentucky is where he should be. According to Paul Biancardi, Wiltjer is a blend of Kevin McHale and Keith Van Horn (hey! they’re white too!), which means if you were born after 2001, he’s destined to be overpaid and underperforming. But, if you were born before, that means Wiltjer has a nice, fundamentally sound inside-outside game and will be a fine piece in what could be a 2011 masterpiece. It’s an incredible and surprising gift to a class that could find itself in the conversation for greatest ever.

August 28th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
What about Behenan?
August 28th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
He forgot to finish his sentence.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:32 pm
LOVE this kid!
Taller version of Jeff Sheppard.
Great BB IQ and unlimited upside.
You Go, Cal!!
Welcome Kyle, ey?
August 28th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Kentucky is killing it!!!! How good will they be????????
August 28th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Absolutely incredible……we really don’t recruit anymore….we select……this kid is very good…..sorta like Singlar from Duke……very similar player…..rebounder with a great outside game……
August 28th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
I thought the pacific northwest was pitino territory…HA, hope to see more of this kid
August 28th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Number 2 = FAIL!
August 28th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Other fans must hate our guts,,,,,,Go Cal….
August 28th, 2010 at 8:38 pm
8 – Im a taller version of Jeff Shephard! Sad thing is, he should know he won’t get much PT being behind me for 2 years.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
maggard reported this last week, lol…..NOT he was just on facebook saying he dont know nothing about it…..Fool.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
Back to back super recruits from Oregon!! David Ball, I will be at the Rose Garden on 11/19.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
WATER FOUNTAIN!!!
August 28th, 2010 at 8:41 pm
Pours in buckets like a water fountain!
August 28th, 2010 at 8:44 pm
this kid is absolutely nothing similar to jeff shephard
but he does look very comfortable in a scoring role and he has a high bball iq, he’s worked very well with these guards to create good spacing in this all star game … has practically forced guys to pass to him, he’s about the only big guy getting passed to … and you gotta like how he drilled a 3 as soon as he hit the court
August 28th, 2010 at 8:44 pm
Plus a class of 2018 verbal. Nice day
August 28th, 2010 at 8:44 pm
That picture above was photoshopped, putting Pee Wee Herman’s head on Wiltjer’s body. Shame on KSR
August 28th, 2010 at 8:48 pm
#16…he was obviously being wrong on purpose to protect the program…duh. As for Wiltjer, he was Mark Few’s top target which means I am happy with him. Few loves the lengthy shooters who aren’t hindered as much by their ‘not quite elite’ athleticism at the college level.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
And to top it all off, I saw Woo in a Sam’s Club in Charleston, WV today buying two cases of beer. No lie. What’s up with that???
August 28th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
I really don’t see how this won’t be the greatest class ever, assuming they all sign next spring.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:55 pm
Watch his ranking drop because he committed to UK. Either way this kid is a great complement to the class we have coming in! 14-Other fans DO hate us…lol! I love it.
August 28th, 2010 at 8:55 pm
The Behenan offer served dual purpose.
. Dampened Pitino’s plans and prompted a quick decision to commit by Wiltjer who never even set foot on campus for a visit!
August 28th, 2010 at 8:56 pm
no way to tell if its the greatest until we see them all perform… but on paper, its looking crazy good!
August 28th, 2010 at 8:57 pm
How the worm has turned! Two years ago we were lucky to be in contact with a top one hundred prospect. Now, we don’t exactly get the pick of the litter, but we do better, by far, than any other school! Thanks, Coach Cal!
August 28th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Since when was Calipari heavily recruiting this kid??
August 28th, 2010 at 9:05 pm
29? Id have to disagree with you I think Cal does get the pick of the litter, and the second and the third and so on and so on.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
We are officially not getting Q Miller
August 28th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
29.
We don’t get the pick of the litter?
Three of the top 6 = pick of the litter.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Add Daniels to this class and I do believe that this is the best recruiting haul in the modern era.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:14 pm
34) I’ll even take the kid here in state ….
August 28th, 2010 at 9:15 pm
This class is going to be special. I’m thinking this kid is a great fit for us. I also think he decided he better commit now before he loses a spot in the class. Cal is loading up and if you are a top 25 player you better commit now or else face the possibility of not having a scholarhip offer in the spring. I must confess that I’m getting spoiled into thinking every recruit is going to be a top 10 guy. This is good because guys like him and Poole and Lamb look like guys that will stay a couple of years and add some depth. Of course I thought Orton would too…LOL…
August 28th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
timber
August 28th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
I’M STUNNED!!!! SPEACHLESS!!
August 28th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
#32 it think its more to the fact that we officailly dont want miller
August 28th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
This was ALL Kenny Payne. He’s probably been recruiting this kid for a few years while he was at Oregon.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:25 pm
39. Seriously? I love the guys we have, but im not gunna say i wouldnt like Miller. But i guess it wouldnt be smart considering hes another one and done.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:28 pm
Look how GREAT this class looks!(So Far)

August 28th, 2010 at 9:33 pm
YAY Coach Cal! We gotta say thanks to all the folks instrumental in getting Cal to UK. It’s a whole new day now.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:33 pm
12 why would you think people would assume you’re gay for making a homophobic comment? maybe you theres something you want to tell us…
August 28th, 2010 at 9:35 pm
25th?? Cal is starting to get lazy with recruiting… We need a new coach who can recruit better…
August 28th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
#41 has nothing to to do with one and done… has more to do with the type of kid Cal wants.. same reason Shelby isnt here. We wont get every kid we want but there are times that we don’t miss out on a kid…. Cal just felt it wasn’t in the teams best interest… See also Lance Stevenson
August 28th, 2010 at 9:37 pm
You can follow him @kwiltj. Show him some Big Blue love.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
How many scholarships does that leave us for next year?
August 28th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
Well, I was not happy about this but it certainly looks like UK wanted him (see Cal, Orlando and Jones tweets).
I thought we had a shot at Quincy.. oh well
August 28th, 2010 at 9:45 pm
Psyched to have this commit! Still think that UK needs a solid 2 guard for this class though. My 2 cents.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
48) Well if Dodson returns and Polson keeps his scholly, and we lose 3 to the NBA as expected then we will have 5 spots for next year. I expect either a true 5 or a SG like Trevor Lacey to fill the last spot. If Cal really wants a 6th he could ask Polson to pay.
August 28th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
show where is the video link … showing his committment. I was at work and not able to watch it live. Give me a link to what… help a man out
August 28th, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Where is the video link of this kids’ committment. I was at work and missed it… help a brother out and put it up, so we all can go back and watch it.
August 28th, 2010 at 10:03 pm
Polson is only on a one year deal, there will be 6 schollys available if 3 leave like everyone thinks
August 28th, 2010 at 10:05 pm
49.) In an interview in July, Quincy Miller stated that he wasn’t hearing much from UK anymore and then expressed his love for UofL. UK didn’t like something about his situation. Maybe they feared he might pull a Daniel Orton and kill UK’s APR because he’s all about Quincy. Maybe it was something to do with his mentor D.Clifton
August 28th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
If miller and liggins somehow go pro, like Cal says, then that’s 2 more. Of course no one really knows what Dodson is gonna do
August 28th, 2010 at 10:10 pm
50, I agree. Only thing missing is a great, top 15, SG. Then we can call it history. (see what I did there, with the history thing, see what I did?)
August 28th, 2010 at 10:13 pm
57!!! What position do you think I play?????
August 28th, 2010 at 10:14 pm
Id like a link to commitment as well tried to find it on espnu.com no luck!
August 28th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
13) I tried. Remember the days when we were excited for 1 5star recruit. Now, nothing but 5 stars!
August 28th, 2010 at 10:19 pm
you want a link? http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/996637.html
August 28th, 2010 at 10:31 pm
add another guard, like lacey or wroten, and this could be the best recruiting class ever
August 28th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
ESPN writer says that Wiltjer, ranked #32, is poised to jump way up the rankings when the new ones come out.

dlhill00 @thomasbeisner So was @marcmaggard being #wrongonpurpose when he posted this little gem on the lifer board? http://tinyurl.com/36c4mu9
August 28th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I don’t know if we need a 2G as much as we need a big bruiser inside on the defensive end. But I think Lebryan Nash and a big would be nice..
August 28th, 2010 at 10:59 pm
63) great link. Thx.
August 28th, 2010 at 11:07 pm
I don’t think we need a SG in 2011 with Lamb/Liggins/Poole coming back. As Hood grows, I see him moving to SF now that he’s already 6’7
August 28th, 2010 at 11:08 pm
So was Maggard being #wrongonpurpose when he posted this little gem on the lifer board… http://tinyurl.com/36c4mu9 You decide.
August 28th, 2010 at 11:09 pm
64. Thanks, guess it helps if you read the comments first.
August 28th, 2010 at 11:31 pm
Sorry, lebryan Nash is no longer considering uk. He’s likely staying out west
August 28th, 2010 at 11:47 pm
Does anyone have a YouTube link of KW’s announcement tonight? I wasn’t to see it… Thanks!
August 28th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
So how many more to complete the class…one? two? and who are the possible recruits?
August 28th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
55 speaks the truth. miller and bello are being handled by the cliftons. cal no longer needs to dance with the devil, he can get top players without dealing with scum anymore. the filthy cards on the other hand… i would love lacey to finish the class
August 28th, 2010 at 11:58 pm
Here is a MixTape of the Oakland Soldiers AAU club. Check out Klye Wiltjer at the 1:30 mark. Man, this kid is better than I was thinking whenever it was first reported that UK was recruiting him.

August 29th, 2010 at 12:04 am
42- I tried looking at your link, its too bright, too many gold stars on it. What’d it say?
August 29th, 2010 at 12:06 am
75.) haha It said just hand UK the NC in 2012 and hold a tournament for the rest of the country to determine #2
August 29th, 2010 at 12:30 am
76…did it really? Wow, that’s cool. I wonder where they will play the tournament…
August 29th, 2010 at 1:49 am
wroten can play the two guard ala bledsoe/wall…and what does having Wiltjer, Gilchrist and Davis (and maybe even a holdover from 2010) do for the recruitment of Behanan, Quincy Miller and DeAndre Daniels???…is it possible to have too many great players…BCG are you watching this????…WOW
August 29th, 2010 at 10:19 am
Austin Rivers can try and play with whover may be left in the Top 100 elsewhere…..or, he can get with that vacant SG slot in this epic class?
August 29th, 2010 at 10:38 am
I don’t suspect the boys will be getting “whipped” or need more “toughness” moving forward. For those folks that are appreciating the future and precious present, F_CK BCG!
August 29th, 2010 at 9:37 pm
Rivers will be going to Duke.
That’s fine hope we will still have Lamb.
And I think Chris Harrison still has one year left. Cal should bring him back.
SWEEET
August 30th, 2010 at 9:39 am
Just realized that we will have only 4 and 5 star recruits on our roster next year. Five 4 stars and eight 5 stars (minus those who go pro – Knight, Jones, Kanter)
