Deandre Daniels and UK THIS Season Not Done Yet

by @ 2:58 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Earlier this week there were multiple reports that Deandre Daniels had made the decision to go to prep school and would choose to be part of the 2011 class. Whether that was true then is unclear, but what is true now is that Daniels may still potentially be part of THIS season’s UK team. Two sources confirmed yesterday that there was still interest between both Daniels and the Cats and the two were attempting to try and work out the details over the next two days. Enrollment deadlines are coming so we will know with finality whether the relationship ends up consumated, but for now, the possibility of Daniels joining this year’s team is still in play.

    Coach Cal is NEVER done!
    Go..get’em Coach !

  2. rex's mullet Says:

Is there going to be a podcast of the radio show?

  3. Evan Daniels Says:

I am making calls to make sure my namesake never comes here. I hate UK.

  4. catfainchattanooga Says:

Have we contacted his agent? He may be able to help us.

  5. No! It's Mingue, MORON Says:

    Exciting!

  6. Mike Says:

Yeah UK and Daniels where able to settle on a 1 year deal worth about $250,000. According to the Chicago Sun Times

  7. catfan85 Says:

hes in high school idiot he doesnt have an agent

  8. catfan85 Says:

    haha

  9. ShepherdsvilleKAT Says:

Not that the kid isn’t good – but he could be possible back-up to Kanter not getting eligible…

  10. EDoug Says:

8 – i think it was a joke, calm down

  11. DavefromFlatgap Says:

Man, ain’t there a nice crop of nut licking trolls out today? What’s the matter you bunch of loosers,,,not much happening in those 2nd tier programs huh? That’s o.k. stick around for a while. Anything to do with the BBN is bound to be an improvement over your own kind. LOL

  12. catfan85 Says:

    11-thanks guy

  13. IcemanG2 Says:

In other news, UK fans apparently crashed the Maui Invitational site. Extra tix went on sale at 3, and I’ve been on since 2:50 … site is screwed. Unreal. Been waiting for this for months.

  14. secretagent0014 Says:

Well if my wife decides to ever leave me, I think I will hire Cal to talk her out of it.

  15. A Wildcat Fan Says:

Pretty dissapointed that Austin Rivers did not list UK as a visit. That class needs a SG.

I still hope that Brad Beal or Wayne Blackshear decommit and sign with UK.

  16. IcemanG2 Says:

16 – we’ll still have Lamb next year. There’s ZERO chance he is one and done. Not a freak athlete like Bledsoe, so no worries there.

  17. catfan85 Says:

yea they do need an SG for 2011, but Lamb will be returning and will be alot better, but yea Rivers would have been huge

  18. Mike Says:

#14 same problem here. Said it was supposed to be fixed but nothing yet

  19. IcemanG2 Says:

    wtf maui … anyone?

  20. Fake Dom Papa Says:

If I only had the opportunity to see him play in Canada.

  21. EDoug Says:

on top of lamb, liggins and miller (barring a surprise early NBA entry) will still be around and be options for the 2 spot. My daughter in first grade could play with the freshman next year and they’re still a top 5 team

  22. blueman80 Says:

with recruits nowadays, kids change their minds so often. Rivers may have not listed UK but that doesn’t mean he is not thinking about it. But I would take a 2nd year player Doron Lamb over a first year shooting guard. Everyone plays well at the high school level but once your in college its all about proving that again since your playing against experienced and bigger players.

  23. Thirteen year old girls Says:

This is the biggest tease in at least the last few weeks

  24. catfan85 Says:

22-we probably need to sign your first grade daughter then…i definetly think liggins will be back, but i think miller may suprise you. Hes gotta lot of upside and is only getting better, i can see him late first round next year if he chooses to take that path, but right now its really hard to say

  25. sportspm.com Says:

    Awesome!

  26. Rolo Says:

23 – Getting a Top 10 kid is not “scrambling”. He would go after this kid hard with or without Kanter.

  27. sh Says:

    Anyone get Maui tix yet?

  28. Terrence Jones Says:

what’s up with this guy, can’t he just make up his mind??? geez, just pick a hat, kid!

  29. catfan85 Says:

    28-EXACTLY RIGHT

  30. sportspm.com Says:

If true, we will have a deeper bench than last year!

  31. jack Says:

Does anybody here besides me think that we are going hard after this kid, because UK is now thinking we won’t get Kanter???

  32. IcemanG2 Says:

Maui site still crashed. This is pathetic. 30 minutes later, no technical fix.

  33. BROOKTROUT Says:

This means we are not getting Kanter………

  34. IcemanG2 Says:

Why so negative? How about, it means Cal sees a chance to even better his chances at getting his team to the FF THIS year, maybe even a title … maybe he thinks we’re one piece away ….

  35. Mike Says:

This Maui invitational website is ridiculous. 40 min plus and still not fixed

  36. BlueDynamite Says:

I agree with 39. this kid is obviously a big time player and we have an open spot on the roster. Why the hell wouldn’t Cal pursue him. I would think the sudden interest would have more to do with the recent class reclassification and less with Kanter.

  37. Grand Poobah Says:

are these maui IT guys shitting their britches or what?

  38. Patton Says:

Just curious. As a UW fan trying to go to the Maui invitational (just popped over here to see how you guys are handling crashing the Maui site), I was wondering what tickets you guys plan on purchasing? It says the All-tournament ticket packages as well as booster tickets for Kentucky games are sold out. So are you guys going for the partial Kentucky (Monday Tuesday) tickets or are you just going to buy other teams boosters if you need to?

Good luck in getting tickets (as long as I still get mine). haha. ;-)

  39. catinhat Says:

Worldwide Wes is working out the details as we speak.

  40. Dward13 Says:

I think were looking at Daniels more to add depth at the 3 and 4 where we really don’t have much.

  41. IcemanG2 Says:

Partial UK (Mon-Tues) or courtside booster if those include UK. It appears they have 3 level (booster, partial booster, courtside booster).

  42. IcemanG2 Says:

Hard to tell whether the “courtside booster” is for any team or not. It says “booster” tix for UK are sold out, but I think that’s a different class of tix ($$). What a joke – 58 mins and counting ….

  43. Mike Says:

I guess Maui has cheated the rest of us UK fans. But I will take the partial booster tickets, and get the other games when I get there. But this is the stupidest ticket distribution I have ever seen.

  44. manu1433 Says:

catfan85….you are an idiot…you can’t even tell when someone is being sarcastic and no way in hell will miller be taken in the 1st round this year

  45. I Says:

How long are we going to beat this dead horse? He’s not coming. Time to move on and start stressing about heading into SEC play without Enes. Doubt Vargas and Jones can dominate the paint in conference play

  46. FrostySucks Says:

Hahahaha Maggard now saying that he posted the Daniels info “days ago” and Jones/Combs are late to the party. This guy is such a clown. I imagine it was time-stamped any everything (as in, time-stamped today, for days ago).

  47. RodneyDangerfield Says:

15 – I think I’ll hire Cal to talk mine into leaving me! (drum splash)

  48. manu1433 Says:

it’d be real nice if we could get daniel’s and the undertaker on the court this season

  49. RidgeRunner Says:

UK worried about Kanters eligibility & hard after Daniels. I saw this and blogged it early when I heard we were after Daniels the first time. This just solidifies my prediction. I think many of ya may have as well back then but was skeptical to write about it.

  50. RidgeRunner Says:

For obvious reasons, I don’t feel good about my prediction. C’mon Enes & make me eat my words.

  51. RidgeRunner Says:

    T. Jones has a “thank you” card already drafted to send Daniels if this comes true…Titled – signed, Indecisively yours, TJ

  52. RidgeRunner Says:

56…Tough being a fan of another team, huh? But thx for stopping by Big Blue Nation & confirming our jealousy thoughts from other teams fans.

  53. Nervous Nancy Says:

The sky is falling. Kanter will not be eligible. 21 December 2012 the world will end. Vargas will not make the grades. Global warming. Jones will not be able to rebound in the SEC. Gosh people calm down. It will be OK, the Sun will rise an all is good.

  54. RidgeRunner Says:

I don’t think many of us are predicting the end of the world 59 but (for me) it’s a logical thought that could separate us from potential sweet 16 (without Kanter) and a potential championship (with Kanter). You seem to be the one reacting in a head in the sand approach.

  55. ENES LOVER Says:

IF BIG ENES WERE GOOD TO GO WE WOULD GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT THIS KID. HE WOULD BE A NICE ADD BUT WE NEED BIG ENES. I HATE THE NCAA

  56. RidgeRunner Says:

Don’t ya hate it when the cap-key gets stuck? umm-umm…

  57. Grand Poobah Says:

Got my Maui tix… the world is right again

  58. RidgeRunner Says:

Got my TV for Maui… That is my world.
    :(

  59. BCO Says:

I really dont see why everyone is linking this to the Kanter situation. While this kid is 6’8″, hes more of a small forward than anything. Sure he could help in the rebounding department a little but his game doesnt resemble Kanters at all…

  60. ltothaj Says:

You can bet your a$$ if Kanter was already cleared Cal would still be going 110% on this guy. He is a 5-star recruit, we have an open scholarship, its an easy decision on whether to go after him. Cal may have stepped it up a notch, but it’s because the kid might reclassify, not because he thinks EK might not be eligible, he’d be stupid not to go after him. We will have alot of SF, but Liggins, Miller or Daniels can play 3 or more positions.

  61. ltothaj Says:

Zagsblog says Daniels is staying 2011, here is the website:

    http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/08/25/daniels-staying-2011-going-prep

  62. bleedingkyblue Says:

@68 those are the exact same words he said te
other day Zag was just now posting that
