Late tonight, the school presented this letter to the public, which was sent to the Chicago Sun-Times and not only demands a retraction of their story alleging that Anthony Davis received $200,000 to commit to UK (which still hasn’t even been announced), but also threatens possible legal action. It’s a .pdf and that means one thing. It just hit the fan. Your move, Chicago Sun-Times.

It’s about effin time the University did this. Tired of the innuendo, rumor mongering, and false accusations thrown our way. If only Pat Four-Dee could get hit with a lawsuit; it would be like Christmas morning.

Somewhere Jerry Tipton just said something like:
“Shoot. UK went and sent this letter out so now I can’t republish it or refer to it in my article because it has been changed. Damn KSR was able to get the story out. Ahh, the good ol’ days when we had an afternoon edition. I would have been all over this–I miss those. Guess I will have to write my story about Terence Jones riding around in a motorized wheelchair with a Mercedes logo on the back.”

finally someone is stepping up and doing something

Well, it would appear that an actual lawyer did what BTI advised against. I’m not saying, I’m just saying, do you know what I am saying? BTI’s correctness will be judged in the long run.
August 4th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
BTI needs to be transposed on a hook by his testicular temperature regulation appendage.
August 4th, 2010 at 11:37 pm
I hereby propose KSR change BTI to Bryan the Idiot.

Legal action should not only be “threatened” but put to use. Then this type of ignorance would cease.

uh-oh Sun Times someones getting fired..
August 5th, 2010 at 12:45 am
Not that it matters but I find it slightly humorous that they have the writer’s name spelled correctly in one part of the letter but they have “Dear Mr. Brien.” We can’t proofread but dammit, we will sue your ass off.
August 5th, 2010 at 2:39 am
They forgot to demand in the retraction that Mr. Dxxxxx does not ever drink hard liquor.
August 5th, 2010 at 8:10 am
I think the University should go ahead and file a lawsuit against the Sun-Times to send a message to them and the rest of the newswpaper world that we are tired of them publishing lies about the university and getting away with it. To say that this is totally irresponsible journalism is a gross understatement. It is just plain out and out lying. The university and the recruit should join in and file a joint lawsuit against the S-T for defamation, libel anything else that goes with it. It would be well worth the expense and I would contribute to the fund for the attorney’s.
August 5th, 2010 at 8:18 am
That ends with Very truly Yours,I guess it should have started My Dearest Mr. OBrien
And its funny that everyone called out BTI for the lawsuit thing, I bet his rants and raves this morning was already written about how bad of an idea a lawsuit would have been. I guess we will get a story on why he is going to sue Axe because it hasnt helped his “love” life like the commercials said it would.
