Here we go…

In what is now a “standing room only” court room, Louisville coach Rick Pitino has arrived to testify against Karen Sypher.  As usual, Matt will wrap up (damn, another unintended pun) the day’s events later.  In the meantime, here’s a short recap of this morning’s testimony:

 - The night in question, “The Boys” got together to celebrate Reggie Theus’ hiring.  Theus would ultimately leave the party early to catch a flight home.

 - Pitino assistant Vinnie Tatum testified that he “heard nothing” while Pitino/Sypher sexual encounter occurred and that he had walked away because he felt like “the third wheel”.  Had he heard distress, he would have responded.

 - He also said that he did not get a key from Porcini’s owner Tim Coury.  Instead, he was instructed to leave out a side door.

 - Coury also said this is the first time he’s ever allowed anyone to stay after hours on their own inside his restaurant.  Sypher’s defense team poked at that theory by pointing out that Tatum left through the proper exit after being told while Pitino, who did not receive same instruction, did as well.

 - In breaking news, Karen Sypher wore a white thong that night.  How can you be sure?  Well, one of “The Boys”, Glen Hogan, lifted Sypher’s skirt and asked “what u got under there?”, according to Jeff Steffens.

More to come, I’m sure…

  5. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

You mean this Glen Hogan? http://www.facebook.com/people/Glen-Hogan/590430205

Gez Rick! Is that what Louisville does to a man’s inner circle?

  6. SexnNursinHomes Says:

3-congrats, the more UK fans born in this world, the better.

  7. slappy Says:

Was Pitino doing this kind of junk when he was at UK? From the outside looking in, it appears he was actually focused on, you know, basketball, when he was here.

  8. ukworm Says:

    wheres the colonel sanders suit?!?

  9. catfaninchattanooga Says:

    3. Congrats…we are having our first kid in about 5 weeks…already have him a UK outfit to ride home in.

  10. GoCats2 Says:

#3 Congratulations! Great news! I have my 6th one due in September. Yes I said my 6th. I knew I had a strong starting five but I wanted someone to be able to come off the bench.

lil’ tdogg- only a few hours old, and already hates UL.

  12. Crazy4Blue Says:

Is that Kige Ramsey with Pitino?

  13. Wedding Planner Says:

Didn’t speak at Mr. Wildcat’s memorial service, representing all the managers..?

  14. Wedding Planner Says:

^I meant Vinny Tatum in post #13

  15. Indycatfan Says:

I hope little Ricky 3 stacks’s hair piece stays in place during his testimony

  16. VilleCat Says:

It had been reported the 3 Stacks replied to a question from the defense attorney regarding the event in question with “I cannot believe we r having this court date on a day when the BP oil spill has not be cleared up!!”

  17. Luke The Drifter Says:

    Congratulations #3, at least
your baby will have a great
life which is more than I can
    say for the child Pitino
    fathered with KS.

  18. CalifCatFan Says:

Ricky Three-Stacks in court. Wow. Only the recruitment of Jai Lucas is more exciting than this.

  19. VilleCat Says:

In other news, the University of Louisville I facing possible NCAA santions as Tim Fuller was spotted in discussions with Karen Sypher ad her son about a possible shoe deal with Nike. This deal was supposed to be kept under the table ( no pun intended) but sources are saying this meeting took place outside the side door of Porcini’s in the last couple of days!!

  20. Indycatfan Says:

Congrats #3 on a day that will change your life for the better. I have 3 of my own plus 5 Grandkids…..Life just cannot be better…by the way they’er all Cat Fans up here in Indy…I taught them the right way. Always……I mean ALAWAYS hate anything RED!

  21. GoCats2010 Says:

    7. He was doing it here too, plenty of old rumors in Lexington. Rick was the reason Joann hated KY, not the horses, or her attitude, it was Rick’s infidelity while at UK

  22. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#17 – Luke The Drifter – No child existed – There never was a breath

    No breath = No life

It’s also been questioned as to whether she was even pregnant at the time, and at no time was DNA ever linked to Pitino.

  23. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#21 – GoCats2010 – I’ve got pretty good sources that say Joanne didn’t like “Kentucky” – as in the people or the lack of big city sophistication.

  24. cdc_uky Says:

Rick is a famous guy with a ton of money and no morals…of course he was doing the same stuff in Lexington. I am sure his focus is/was on basketball most of the day but there is always time for good Italian and “off white” thongs!

  25. uksbiggestfan Says:

    22) i’ve read ur last few comments in different posts and i think ur an a$$ho1e, i’ll hang up and listen.

  26. UKTRUBLUE Says:

22 “No breath = No life”…. must be great to live in your world were things are so nicely defined…..

  27. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#25 – uksbiggestfan – Glad to see your following. Says a lot about you, if that’s what you think of me.

  28. UKTRUBLUE Says:

    where^

  29. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#26 – UKTRUBLUE – In human terms, that’s about as cut and dry as it gets. Go to your local hospital and ask the Emergency Room doctors what they think?

Or ask your preacher how he determines if it’s ok to bury someone.

  30. uksbiggestfan Says:

    29) sounds like pitino’s in your ear

  31. david8577 Says:

Man I’m glad that’s not my coach.

  32. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#26 – UKTRUBLUE – I believe in spirit, yet Luke The Drifter went out on a limb with his statement IMO.

The english word “spirit” is derived from the Latin word -> “spiritus” which means “breath”.

  33. cdc_uky Says:

    29) there are differing opinions on the issue and only a pompous a$$ like youself would bring it up…and pretend his point of view is the only right answer.

  34. BlueIrish Says:

    29) In human terms its thats cut and dry! Everyone if Calipari’sInYourEar start to choke, just Bury him!

  35. tyson Says:

29–the ER doctors will tell you no brain function equals no life

  36. tyson Says:

29–so my advice would be for you to not go to an emergency room

  37. wildcatmatt Says:

    I’m glad Calipari’sInYourEar is not my father…..or Ricky P.

  38. DTI Says:

Didn’t #29 out himself yesterday as the guy who sent Quincy MIller 18 messages on facebook?

  39. wildcatmatt Says:

    35) Ziiiinnnnngggg!!!!

  40. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#30 – uksbiggestfan – If you want to paint Pitino as a baby killer go ahead, I just see it differently.

  41. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#35 – tyson – Did you go ask?

Or are you just simply manufacturing your answer for your agenda?

  42. uksbiggestfan Says:

    40) i didn’t paint him that way…he did, but i’m sure your sources already made you aware, right?

  43. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#38 – DTI – Quincy asked that you not name drop him anymore in public places

  44. PPattotheRafters Says:

What are the odds of a sketch artist rendition of the thong?

  45. uksbiggestfan Says:

    44) lmao

  46. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#42 – uksbiggestfan – Shhh… Pitino is getting ready to talk about his plot to kill babies

  47. SexnNursinHomes Says:

my name is bennett, and I ain’t in it, but Sypher made the decision to have the abortion. rick paid for it. neither one of them should even gotten themselves in the situation to be talking about abortions.

  48. cristoforouk Says:

Anybody who has an abortion is a baby killer. Your reasoning against there being life is total BS. As soon as a woman is pregnant there is life. I won’t even argue with you about this because your logic is so f’ed up.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

  49. SexnNursinHomes Says:

44-hahaha, crustiness doesn’t show well in sketches

  50. wildcatmatt Says:

    49) Requires LOTS of shading.

  51. uksbiggestfan Says:

    49) guess what i heard about KS? Yup, that’s right…she loves SexnNursinHomes lmfao

  52. SexnNursinHomes Says:

    50- hahaha, hilarious!!

  53. cdc_uky Says:

Why can I not shake the idea that her “area” smells like cigarettes?

  54. SexnNursinHomes Says:

51-well, I got a bed for her, after hearing about that thong, went and attached a bedpan too. hahaha. ya’ll making me laugh!!

  55. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#48 – cristoforouk – You said, “As soon as a woman is pregnant there is life”

Can we vote you into office?

He who asserts bears the burden of proof. You won’t “dare” argue, or debate. I would also prefer you not use the word logic next time you post. So far, it doesn’t exist.

  56. SexnNursinHomes Says:

    i mean 52^^^^

  57. uksbiggestfan Says:

    55) get ooouuuutttaaa heerre…no really, leave…u suck and we dont like u

  58. uksbiggestfan Says:

    54) Congratulations!!! you successfully made me throw up all over my keyboard lmfao, ur killin me smalls!

  59. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#57 – uksbiggestfan – hang up and listen… you do that well.

  60. uksbiggestfan Says:

59)uhhh……r you on the radio now? what station, am or fm??? i gotta know!!!

  61. nassau65 Says:

    3. Tdogg-CONGRATS man! glad to hear everyone is doing well. boy or girl?

  62. LouisvilleCatBird Says:

Not to diminish the importance of a very personal and weighty moral issue, but can we focus on what unites us here: you know, it’s big, it’s blue, played with a round leather ball? — and leave the thornier theological questions for the Kentucky Morality Radio blog? Thanks, and GBB.

  63. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#60 – uksbiggestfan – When you said that in post #25 I figured you were using a 14.4 dialup modem to internet access.

Now if you forget that you said that, then I’ll completely let it slide. As you’ve helped prove that being brain dead doesn’t always mean that your dead.

  64. uksbiggestfan Says:

all this arguing with Cal’sinyourear and i forgot say congrats to Tdogg!!! by any chance did u name him/her uksbiggestfan???

  65. LouisvilleCatBird Says:

Oh, also not to diminish the tremendous unifying force of watching an ex-coach of questionable morality and integrity squirm at the stake to the great embarrassment of our “rival” program!

  66. Luke The Drifter Says:

    Pitino is at least half
    obeying the tenets of his
    religion. He didn’t use
    birth control.

  67. Perry Stevenson Loves Dragonball Z Says:

#63- Calipari’sInYourEar-when a pregnant woman has a miscarriage, do you criticize her for her grief? “stupid woman, it wasn’t a baby?” surely, as you comfort the woman, you’d say “i’m sorry you lost the baby.” the only (physiological) difference between an abortion and a miscarriage is that the mother wanted to have a child. is life (and access to life) determined merely by our intentions?

  68. catty Says:

Wow now slick rick is making it sound like HE was raped.

“When he got up to leave, Pitino said she whispered something, opened his pants and the two then had sex “very briefly.” “

  69. uksbiggestfan Says:

    63) chris cross, is that u!?!

  70. LouisvilleCatBird Says:

Dang, I wanted to be comment 69.

  71. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#67 – Perry Stevenson Loves Dragonball Z – Your hypothetical has nothing to do with the discussion nor my respect for a woman, or life. A womans intention doesn’t play a part in defining life. Access to life is through breath, and if you can’t do it, then your not there yet.

    No Breath = No Life

That’s the start time on the birth certificate

  72. uksbiggestfan Says:

    71) God begs to differ…and i take his word over yours haha and 70) i’m srry…next time its yours lmao

  73. RockfieldKY Says:

So Cal’sinyourear is telling me that the doctor can deliver a baby and before the baby takes it first breath you can just “kill” it and you’ve done nothing wrong? My opinion would be that if there is a heartbeat that supports a body’s functions, you have life.

  74. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#73 – RockfieldKY – Yea? When did you tell yourself that I told you that?

That’s quite a story going on in your head Rockfield.

Up until first breath the baby is, for all practical purposes, a part of its mother’s body, running all its functions through her. But at first breath the umbilical cord is cut and the baby now breathes for itself, and must learn to eat, poop and run all its biological functions outside the mother’s systems.

  75. RockfieldKY Says:

But the baby does not takes its first breath until after it is delivered. If I’m not mistaken, that is why doctors induce the baby into crying after cleaning out its mouth. It is to cause the baby to take its first breath.

  76. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

“Unable to live” on it’s own is pretty clear to me as something that has yet to achieve life.

To take this discussion back to the origin, Pitino isn’t nor does he deserve to be branded a baby killer, in regards to the his dealings with Sypher.

  77. RockfieldKY Says:

You said life is determined by whether or not breath has occurred. Just using your reasoning. Earlier you never mentioned the factor of being dependant on a mother for certain functions. Seems like your argument changed a little.

    No breath = No life

    Remember?

  78. LouisvilleCatBird Says:

So, what’s new in the world of criminal justice and college basketball coaches? Anybody heard anything? (*whistling uncomfortably*)

  79. uksbiggestfan Says:

    RockfieldKY just ROASTED Calipari’sInYourEar…BEASTED!!!!!!!!!!!

  80. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#77 – RockfieldKY – You haven’t used my reasoning. You misquoted me and failed to acknowledge it.

As the discussion has developed, pieces of a 9 month pregnancy have been introduced, some more factual than others.

Your card has been shown, care to give me the same respect you’d give a baby who just breathed their first breath of life?

  81. RockfieldKY Says:

I haven’t disrespected you at all. I’ve just calmly copy and pasted what you typed earlier about what determines life and then stated my opinion. Sounds like you are getting a little defensive.

  82. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#73 – RockfieldKY – In post #73 you said, “My opinion would be that if there is a heartbeat that supports a body’s functions, you have life.”

I respect that as your opinion.

I also disagree. For a greater part of the 9 months of pregnancy, if you pull that baby out, it won’t breath or live. It meets your definition, yet doesn’t equal life.

  83. dave_in_oldham Says:

Debate when life begins all you want. The woman still has a lot to say about what she can and can’t do to her body. Ultimate say IMO. No one other than the father has any say in what she decides. Certainaly not us blog nerds.

    72) If God is so perfect, why doesn’t he fix all these issues instead of us having to figure things out for ourselves? Maybe because there is no God.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeSSwKffj9o

  84. RockfieldKY Says:

    So, we’re both wrong?

  85. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#81 – RockfieldKY – Your post #73 is where you failed to live up to your standards.

I regret to inform you of this and hope you can be calm and gentle with yourself in determining what caused this loss of light in your reconstruction of reality.

  86. catty Says:

    THIS IS ABOUT THE POST-

  87. uksbiggestfan Says:

    83) Bravo!!! i’m not gonna get into that discussion with you here, i respect your opinion, i just dnt believe the same as you. There is no point in arguing with an atheist, if thats what you are and honestly there is no arguing with me either. 84) he’s back pedaling, you have his back against the ropes, don’t let up…finish him!!!

  88. catty Says:

The artist sketch of slick rick looks NOTHING like him.

  89. uksbiggestfan Says:

Calipari’sInYourEar does ur mom believe the same as u? I bet if she does, she has a few regrets now hahaha

  90. RockfieldKY Says:

I simply asked you if since life begins with the first breath, your original argument, does that mean you think its ok to dipose of the delivered fetus after the full 9 month term, prior to its first breath and cord cutting, and that would be okay. I’m not arguing if my opinion was correct, just if you felt that scenario would be accurate. You respond with insults and questioning my grasp of reality. I’m not the least bit worried by that, because you are the person who is using the internet to sling insults. If nothing, you’ve helped to disprove your point by refusing to directly address my question.

  91. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#84 – RockfieldKY – I think it’s human nature to protect something that cannot defend itself.

But as to when that starts, I am confident with my position.

After the 7 month mark of pregnancy a baby could be removed from the womb, and through manipulation the possibility for it to live is there.

You have 2 arguments actually, your statement that I repeated in post 82, and the hypothical that you painted in posts #73 and #75.

You make a good argument in your hypothetical, yet it’s not for “life = when there’s a heartbeat that supports a body’s function”, it’s for “would it be wrong to not give something with the potential for life (breathing on it’s own) the opportunity to see it through”

  92. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#90 – RockfieldKY – Please point out where I insulted you.

  93. RockfieldKY Says:

Doesn’t every baby that is conceived have the potential for life, regardless of what trimester it is in?

  94. RockfieldKY Says:

questioning someone’s perception of reality because they have an opinion on a comments section of a blog comes across as insulting, but maybe thats just me

  95. uksbiggestfan Says:

    92) give it up….RockfieldKY is exposing u, kinda like KS to ricky 3stacks hahaha

  96. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

I think it’s been well defined in the medical community when that “potential for life” or ability to breath on it’s own, begins.

From what I’ve read the beginning of the 3rd trimester (Week 26) is when a fetus, under intensive medical care has over a 50% chance of surviving outside the womb.

At week 30 a fetus is considered “usually” capable of living outside the womb and would be considered premature at birth.

I’m not sure as to the reliability of that information, and would welcome corrections.

    Week 30, that’s almost 7 months.

  97. uksbiggestfan Says:

    96) ur worthless, very annoying, and trying way too hard…u got questioned and technically u still haven’t answered that question. o yea and y haven’t u answered mine #89, i’m just curious

  98. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

    #94 – RockfieldKY – That’s just you

I didn’t question your perception of reality – I pointed out where you lied and fabricated.

Just a small difference. But really, is that important to you at this point?

Honesty and respect? That’s clearly not what your interested in defending.

  99. RickyThreeStacks Says:

97 – if you aren’t intelligent enough to be involved in the conversation then stop trying to be. you are merely a cheerleader for rockfieldky, its pathetic. you are unable to construct any valid points of your own and rely on childish name calling and attempts at bullying. the fact that you side w karen sypher speaks volumes in itself. please stop embarrassing yourself

  100. uksbiggestfan Says:

and we made it last 100 posts…this is ridiculous haha rick3stacks, shouldnt u be some where memorizing some lines hahaha

  101. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

Hey RockfieldUK, isn’t it sad to see when your buddies feel like they have to chime in to your defense? Like they don’t even respect your merit enough anymore because the hope faded, rightfully so.

If a point is clearly supported then it stands. If one is clearly unsupported, then it falls.

Sometimes we find ourselves supporting things that we haven’t seen in full light exposure.

  102. RickyThreeStacks Says:

    sigh…i don’t know why i even tried

  103. uksbiggestfan Says:

i’ve never even seen RockfieldKY post b4, but he did own u and i just enjoy pointing out the fact that u have yet to comeback with nething meaningful…u keep saying the same thing and not acknowledging what he said. it’s really not that big of a deal, but he made a really good point and beasted u, so i stand by the rock haha

  104. cdc_uky Says:

    96) Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including you. My irritation comes from the absolutes that you were speaking in early in the post. You seem to have moved to the idea that everyone is entitled to their opinion now…which is progress. Using your last example, a baby can survive at a much earlier point the the pregnancy b/c of medical advances. 40 yrs a ago the survival rate of a 26 wk old looked much different than now. This means that your definition of life has been effected by medical advancements. Life cannot be determined by our level of technology…I refuse to believe that. When the heart beats it is alive to me…I did not believe this until I heard my daughter’s heartbeat for the first time.

  105. uksbiggestfan Says:

    102) im bored, im at wrk and we’re slow…y r u the only one that can act questionable..?

  106. pccatsfan Says:

What happened to the good ole days, when this was a blog about UK b’ball, instead of one guy dominating the comments with his opinions about when life begins? Sure wish the moderator would step in.

  107. RockfieldKY Says:

-I regret to inform you of this and hope you can be calm and gentle with yourself in determining what caused this loss of light in your reconstruction of reality.

That is where you questioned my grasp on reality. I also fail to see where I lied or fabricated anything. Maybe you can point that out to me. Also, where did you get the comment about me not caring to defend honesty and respect. It just makes no sense. You are right that a firm argument can stand on its own, but I fail to see where you have established that in any manner. I think I’ll bow out of this nonsensical discussion before it goes any further. It seems we’ve begun to argue for arguments sake.

  108. pccatsfan Says:

    107) Thank you. Please let it stop!

  109. CatScratchFever Says:

    Ditto 106 and 108.

  110. LouisvilleCatBird Says:

Okay, here’s a question: How much does this affect your personal ranking of Pitino as a UK coach. My alltime list went 1) Rupp – The Unquestioned Original, 2) Pitino – Most significant coach in my lifetime, 3) Hall – A winner and part of my upbringing, 4) Smith – Same. Unquestionably a good front man for the greatest program ever. 5) Calipari – On potential alone, and then 6) Sutton – good years, bad end, 7) BCG – unfortunate interlude. Now, I have to seriously consider moving Pitino down to a level below Hall/Smith (coaches who won championships and did right by the program).

  111. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#104 – cdc-uky – I’ve always believed each is entitled to their own opinion. On blogs, especially this one, we should be reluctant to “read into” what people write and formulate opinions on what we think they mean.

You bring up a good point about technology, however, medical advancement doesn’t change my definition of life. It simply enables an extremely risky seperation to have better odds than it use to. Seperations at that stage are very rare and only done in very extreme situations. Regardless, that’s a microscopic view of what pregancy details.

Mothers and fetuses are bonded, as your life is giving the resources on so many levels. That’s special and I’m not trying to take that away from you.

Yet, there’s 7 months where fetus isn’t capable of living without you. If you want to debate that, then I will even move the marker to 6 months for the sake of clearly defining what is and what isn’t.

When something isn’t capable of living on it’s own, it’s not life IMO. That doesn’t mean it’s trash. That doesn’t mean we can’t have ethical discussion on it as a society.

Yet, the people who want to call out people who decide to have legal abortions “baby killers”, steer clear of respectful and honest debate.

  112. uksbiggestfan Says:

    111) i swear i’m done posting on this situation after this. once again, my opinion…so if an elderly person can’t live without the help of a machine, they are not life? is that what you are saying? you know what, that is exactly what you are saying, so i am done talking to you and have a great night.

  113. uksbiggestfan Says:

When something isn’t capable of living on it’s own, it’s not life IMO- just for reference

  114. RickyThreeStacks Says:

110 i dont think that much less of Rick. if anything his move to lville bothers me more than this. sad as it is, in this day and age infidelity and scandal have almost become the norm. i don’t condone or support his actions, but they dont tarnish my view of him as a basketball coach. just the same as the tiger woods circus didnt change my opinions towards him as a golfer.

  115. uksbiggestfan Says:

    114) i have to agree…i dnt kno, nor do i claim to kno, what he did while he was in Lexington…but he brought us back to prominence! so…hopefully Cal will hurry up and take over his position lol b/c pitino is just a douche these days!UK#1

  116. Reidland Cat Says:

nerd fight! nerd fight! nerd fight! NERD FIGHT!

  117. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:

#107 – RockfieldKY – Whenever you’d like, come back to this thread. Grab something to drink and read. All of your questions will be answered. You will see where you failed to maintain honesty and respect.

Please don’t overlook where you admitted your position didn’t hold water (post #84) by offering “so we both are wrong?”

  118. CatScratchFever Says:

I knew it was just a matter of time until assisted suicide/life support came into this. Does anyone want to weigh in on the death penalty now?

  119. Calipari'sInYourEar Says:
