Ramel Bradley: My One Year Plan

Ramel Bradley started a new website this week and has a new plan for the next year. He tells it to the fans on KSR below:

THE ONE YEAR PLAN: www.DreamSmooth.com

You must believe in a DREAM before it can become a reality. The Big Blue Nation carries on this belief better than any program in the nation. Anything short of excellence is not an option. We strive for the best because we want to be the best. Year in and year out, the Kentucky basketball program moves forward with the mindset of being the elite standard in college ball. Over time this positive energy keeps building and that momentum is what we call Bleeding Blue.

The Kentucky program wants to take players that believe in being the best. The tradition is created and carried on by individuals that are striving to make dreams come true. As a player, I feel the most important part of this game is heart. If somebody truly wants something bad enough in life, it is the fire inside that drives them towards that goal. This passion is born and lived through Kentucky basketball every year.

I feel I left it all on the court regardless of any situation. No matter the size or speed of the man I was against, I played with all I had. During my four years, I hope I was seen as giving Kentucky all I could. This same passion lives on today and I realize more now than ever before that I want to continue representing the BLUE & WHITE positively into the future.

As a UK graduate, it’s my job to push myself and carry on that Big Blue Spirit. Over the summer I’ve been focusing on what I can do to become a better player and I’ve put myself on a “ONE YEAR PLAN.” I had a sit down with my agent, Andy Miller, and asked if he believed in my dream. I explained to him I want to surround myself with people that have confidence and share my belief and he’s 110% on board. I told Andy I didn’t want to get on a summer league team this year because I want to go back overseas this next season and focus more on my game. Next summer I’m coming back with one goal and that’s to get a spot on an NBA roster. The journey never ends and for me it’s just starting. At the end of this I’m driven by my passion to represent two places deep in my heart - BROOKLYN let’s go hard and KENTUCKY let’s bleed blue.

It should be an interesting year. I wish all the new guys entering the league best of luck and for all the new players on campus I hope their dreams are lived. For me, I’m in New York City until August and then I’ll be going back overseas for this season. I launched a website this week and will be posting a few different things in the near future. I’m doing some video talks with a few of my old coaches in New York and I’ll post footage of some upcoming street tournaments in the City. I could use that Big Blue Nation support as I’m trying to create this buzz over the coming year. I’m working harder than ever and the goal is to be representing in the league starting next season. Stay in touch, check out my website and I appreciate the love!

Good luck. Psst… don’t tell folks you should have gone to Kansas….

    1) Psst… don’t take everything you read at face value because it might be (and often is) taken out of context to make it look worse than it is. Granted, I don’t think Orton is very smart.

  3. Pokey Chapman Says:

Smooth, I always admired your determination and your ability to play hurt, which you did a lot. I almost come out on the floor when I saw you pushed into the stands from behind at Georgia. You delt with different coachs, got through a year with BCG, always with a smile on your face. I don’t remember you ever complaning about anything. Go work on your skills, you have the mental part down. Remember, your part of the family and will always a home in Kentucky. Regardless of what happens on the court your a winner.

    Go get ‘em Smooth!

    Ramel, hopefully the Brooklyn
    Nets are in your future.

    Get ‘em little New York.

How can anyone not love this guy? He is articulate, funny, and just Smooth. If he makes an NBA roster, I will buy the first Smooth jersey (and I currently own exactly zero NBA jerseys).

Ramel you are awesome man. #5 beat me to it–I think it would be awesome to see you grab a roster spot when the Njets move to Brooklyn.

I have always admired your use of Bank Gothic with a drop shadow and a slight motion blur in your headers.

    Good luck!

Smooth, you can, without a doubt, do this. I think a person worth emulating would be a fellow New Yorker, Rafer Alston. He had, has(?), mad ball skills but not better than you. Here is a link to another baller; one much less well known. Read how he approached reaching his potential. The part I would like you to read is the italicized part in the middle of the piece. His plan would be a good plan to follow. http://www.ganonbakerbasketball.com/training/find-a-trainer/pro-traine rs/micah-lancaster/

Good luck Smooth; you’ve got a whole nation at your back.

    Ramel,

You gotta surround yourself with critical eyes and encouraging spirits. People who are looking out for your best interests.
