Dan LeBatard: Not new to stokin’ the racial fires

by @ 5:14 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Hey there handsome.

Yesterday, Bryan the Intern posted the video of Dan LeBaturd trying to stir up a few controversial sound bites from Jay Bilas, only to find out that Bilas was entirely too intelligent for his journalistic bottom-feeding. Well, folks, I’m sad to report that this wasn’t LeBaturd’s first foray into the world of trying to create racial controversy.

A few months ago, being the high-quality journalist that he is, LeBaturd invited Trick Daddy onto his show to discuss the Michael Vick situation. Now, we can’t deny that “Trick love da kids”, but I’m not really sure what would be the point in having him on the show to talk about Vick’s dogfighting charges unless he’s just trying to get a few shocking soundbites. This, after all, is the guy who brought in Tim Hardaway to talk about John Amaechi’s sexual preference and then baited him into bashing it.

Well, he got them. If you’re in to hearing a professional journalist (I, as a complete unprofessional myself, use that term lightly) calling another grown man “Trick”, then you should enjoy the first several minutes of unintelligible talk where Mr. Daddy claims Vick is the greatest football player ever, that dog fighting is just like cock fighting so it should be ok (pretty sure that’s illegal too, Trick) and his bold claim that “weed is weed”. But don’t worry, sweet KSR reader, LeBaturd pounces on the already pointless interview and begins with the racial questioning thereafter.

Enjoy.

***And just as a side note before the racial arguments get started:  I’m posting this purely to prove what a moron Dan LeBaturd is.  If he can’t be the Miami Heat butt-boy, then he’s got nothing left.  Also, I’m not condemning or celebrating what Mr. Daddy has to say, but I will say I find it hard to question a man raised on sugar water and mayonnaise sandwiches.

Hard to keep up with all these new threads but I will do my best! I used to like Lebetard before I heard him speak

  2. wick Says:

For what it’s worth, his name translates literally to “Dan the Bastard.”

  3. 10, 2, and 4 Says:

    Le Bastard. Ehhaww, haww, hawwh!

  4. CatFanInKnox Says:

I said it yesterday, I’ll say it again today… racism is alive and well, in part thanks to efforts of people like this guy.

    Seriously Dan, cut it out.

  5. Ryan Says:

On Rivals, UK is the only school on Maurice Sutton’s list. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=68230#co lleges

  6. NoseBreaker Says:

Haha, nice post. I’d like to be the first to point out that Beisner keeps it real, much like T-double D.

  7. GoCats Says:

5)amazing how different Scout and Rivals are…wonder which is more accurate?

  8. CAnTuckeeBoi Says:

A thread on Wildcatnation is saying that Flemings is taking his official this weekend.
You know what this means????? We all need to show him some love at the pony track!!!!!!

  9. Ryan Says:

Scout always seem slower with updating info than Rivals. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember Scout ever showing UK on Sutton’s list. I do know that a few days ago, Rivals had a few more schools on Sutton’s list and now it’s just UK.

  10. GoCats Says:

    9) i dont know when it changed bu sutton had us on scout a few days ago
    8) yeah saw that Flemings this weekend and McCoy next weekend and I believe Majok as well
I think Harrellson is next weekend also but not sure

  11. GoCats Says:

sorry the sunglasses dude is supposed to be an 8!

  12. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

we got a busy 2 weeks ahead. we need to be at the derby classic to give these guys a warm welcome and hopefully a reason to stick around

  13. WinninWhenBillysGrinnin Says:

Travis Ford, one day removed from issuing a statement that he wasn’t interested in LSU, was on campus at Providence interviewing for the open job Wednesday, UMass confirmed.

Kansas willing to “Pony Up” for Self.
“If they’re going to need to raise a lot of money, I’m sure there will be many people who step forward,” Dana Anderson, a businessman/developer and prominent Kansas donor, told The Associated Press. “Bill Self is a great individual and a great coach and he’s perfect for Kansas.”

  15. pji Says:

Daddy lost me when he started talking about God giving his only begotten son. Quite the theologian!

  16. GoCats Says:

Calipari wins Naismith coach of the year…must have voted before the last 2 minutes of monday night’s game.

  17. deWildcats Says:

The new articles are popping up here faster than Deadspin - wearing me out keeping up with both.
But, I’m still at work and I like the reading.

  18. deWildcats Says:

#5 - I like Rivals best plus the April 5th article was recent and all UK
Over on KyInk - someone has “rumored” that Sutton is already a CAT

  19. WinninWhenBillysGrinnin Says:

This just out…No one interested in Donovan.

  20. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

18- i hope that’s not the case because sutton will be a work in progress and i don’t know how much room we have to get another big guy that can be an imediate impact

  21. Ryan Says:

    20. Who else do you suggest we get for a big man? If not Sutton, who else? Keep in mind, Sutton is being recruited by Nova, NC State, UNC, etc and is a 3 star. Harrellson is a 2 star. You suggest Harrellson over Sutton?

  22. deWildcats Says:

#20 - Sutton may or may not be a project - I have read too many articles that noted he had a superb senior season.

  23. Ryan Says:

Sutton was MVP of the Sweet 16 or the state finals, not sure which, in the DC area and lead his team to the state title. I don’t think he’s a scrub.

  24. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

yes i do ryan. i think you might be putting to much into the rankings. it has been said that sutton is not going to be a contributor early on and you also have to look into how he will fit in on the team. the kid is as skinny as a rail and we need some size underneath the basket so patterson doesn’t have to take all the bruises. plus he has already had a year at juco so he can come in and contribute

  25. deWildcats Says:

A search on Scout gets me 689 articles on Maurice Sutton (sutton +maurice +basketball), the list of schools that have been or who are linked to him is impressive. I honestly believe that Coach BCG and staff are onto their type of player - long, lean and fast.

  26. Ryan Says:

    24. I see your point. We can make an argument for both players. I could say Sutton will always be a better shot blocker and more athletic than Harrellson and would be right. With that said, I wouldn’t mind having both players. Billy G needs big men.

  27. GoCats Says:

I’m not turning down anyone, mainly because Coach has never asked my opinion but I would rather have Harrellson mainly because he has some size that cant’t be pushed around. 6′9 270 are Corliss Williamson type numbers and we haven’t had a guy like that since Turpin(unless you count Jason Parker).

  28. Ryan Says:

Gocats, Magloire was 6′10” 260. Nazr was about 250. Morris is 6′10 about 270.

  29. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

i’m not trying to say i wouldn’t want sutton but i think we are running out of spaces on the team and if i had to choose from big men sutton would be 3rd behind ater majok and josh harrelson. but he we have enough room for all three then by all means i’d take em all because i think they all have something to bring

  30. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

gocats is talking about harrelson production

  31. Ryan Says:

I’ve saw a video on youtube of Majok and he seems to be more of a perimeter player than an inside player to me. He’s 6′10” is very slim. Sort of reminds me of Kevin Durant and built like him too. Go check the vid on youtube and you will see what I mean.

  32. Ryan Says:

Ater Majok International NBA Prospect. http://youtube.com/watch?v=u-UGQflOwDQ

  33. weshouldvegotstephanpettigrew Says:

yeah i’ve seen them, but thats what you’re going to get with sutton to but majok is longer than sutton with a 7′4″ wingspan and i think he is more athletic, not to mention he has some handles for a guy his size

  34. bcgobsession Says:

Graford Tx, BCG’s hometown is pretty much in the path of a tornado… Hope everyting is ok– too many tragic events occurring this season, especially if it is even remotely related to UK & Gillispie!

  35. ciphercomplete Says:

I prefer the nickname DAN LEB-RETARD

  36. njcatfan25 Says:

31 - just curious…what in that video made you think he is more of a perimeter player? I’m at work and couldn’t listen to the sound so maybe that guy said something about it. I only saw him take 2 or 3 shots that werent in the post.

  37. Beisners future wife Says:

Dan is not nearly as handsome as you, TJ. Congrats on the new site!

  38. pdiggs Says:

sugar water and mayonaise sandwhich….hahahahaha…I love it. 1 of T-double’s top 4 lines ever…..

    TJ you know nann….

Are those bugle boy jeans your wearing? HELL NO, Beez….you know they polo.

    uh huh….ok….whats up…shut up!

  39. BA40 Says:

I seriously didnt understand a word Trick Daddy said in the first minute and a half of talking. Had to turn it off.

  40. wick Says:

27 - Marquis Estill was about that size. Didn’t always play that big, but he could bunker down when he needed to.

  41. Bomani Jones Says:

Gotta be fair to Dan. He didn’t bait Tim Hardaway into anything. He asked Hardaway a question directly, and he was wayyyy more honest than would have been prudent. Dan didn’t set him up there.

He did, however, go up like a punk with Bilas, and Bilas was just as disingenuous.

  42. Thomas Beisner Says:

Bomani, agreed. I might have been a little unfair to him on the Hardaway thing. He pretty dug his own grave on that one….thanks for the input.
