1. If you hadn’t seen this picture yet, it’s pretty amazing as a HAWK attacked a girl yesterday at Fenway Park. Ironically enough, her name is Alexa Rodriguez, prompting a Boston blog to comment it is an omen concerning the Yankees. Well, Boston sports fans have become extremely annoying, and withleather.com has responded perfectly. There is some rough language in this link.
2. The battle continues at several positions in spring practice, but probably none as wide-open as the wide reciever spots, which the Courier-Journal highlights today.
3. Jody Demling adds on to what Matt reported earlier about both Josh Harrelson and Maurice Sutton.
4. ArmchairGM.com has created a 32-”team” bracket, composed of the 32 hottest sports wives. While you have to be registered with the website to vote, you can still go to the website and view the photo gallery for each lady. Above you have the wife of Johnny Damon, and trust me the pictures get better if you go to website. You’re Welcome.
5. Reds color analyst Jeff Brantley was absolutely bashing 3B Edwin Encarnacion on Wednesday night during the 9th inning of the Reds game against Arizona. Brantley was saying Edwin was not a clutch player and went so far as to say he shouldn’t even be playing. I actually agree with Brantley that Encarnacion is a VERY overrated player who strikes out a ton, makes a ton of errors, and swings at bad pitches every at bat. Well, I am sure glad that I wasn’t sitting in Brantley’s chair Wednesday because Encarnacion shut up Brantley BIG TIME.
6. I would imagine alot of you, along with being UK fanatics, also are Cincinnati Bengals fans as its the closest NFL team for lots of you. Well, Chad Johnson in his typical “me first” way, has been making headlines calling out the organization for not improving the team. He was recently on ESPN and did a VERY uncomfortable interview where he contradicts himself a bunch and in general sounds like a fool. This guy has now moved into “TO” territory in that he could potentially destroy the Bengals season.

The cowboy is right, because Edwin is the weak link in this read lineup, and more importantly can be terrible at 3rd did you see his throw to the plate yikes!

Question on the sports wives… THere is an Ashley and a Valeri in the spouse’s names. Are those guys names??
Based on those pictures I am voting for Tiger Woods wife. Fantastic picture.
Very frustrating on the Josh Harrellson story. I got the impression from ALL websites that UK was far and away his top choice. Now that he is released he suddenly has 10 choices? Especially since Gillispie is not allowed to talk to him for 2 weeks now. Hopefully he sees the opportunity that is here for him.

Are you kidding me? What about Dario’s wife, our own poster girl Ashley Judd? She’s got my vote even though she is not on the list!!!!!!!!!

call me old fashioned, but i cant imagine any man not wanting his wife to change her last name. i know its the trendy thing to do now, but seriously, grow a pair.

i wouldve rather been naked on camera than give that interview. I was cracking up when I watched it yesterday

#8–name changing derives from male ownership of his wife. Wives weren’t people, they were property. Some traditions need changing. Besides the trendy thing to do now is just make a new last name out of parts of the husband’s and wife’s last name.

I don’t get the Harrellson thing either. Every thing I read about him stated he was UK’s as soon as he got the release. Now he is visiting several schools? And Sutton too? I thought he was supposed to commit if he liked his visit? I guess you can’t believe anything you read any more.

#8, with that being said I wouldn’t object to my wife changing her name if she chose to do so, but I’m certainly not going to force her to. FYI-I’m married, and no, she didn’t change her name.

12) nothing personal. but you also have a volfan name on a UK blog. i dont view it as “ownership” but respect. i have a family name with alot of history that i would like to pass along. how do you name your kids?
April 4th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Hah! I was watching that game. I attempted to say to myself, “Self, Brantley is going to look real foolish if Edwin goes yard”, but I didn’t have time. No sooner did The Cowboy mumble those fateful words about Edwin not being a clutch hitter, he hit a 2 strike pitch for the game winning homer.
Maybe Brantley was trying to do a little reverse psychology from the booth?

my son has my name. If we ever have a daughter, then I dont know. What if the wife has a last name with history? It’s certainly an issue with some people, but it wasnt going to stand in the way of us getting married.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
15 - respect you decision, but you said the tradition was to view women as property and not people. Maybe that is how you or your wife viewed it, but to me the tradition is something different. You maybe read in a book that is what the tradityion was, but from talking with mine and my wife’s family, our view of the tradtion was different.

being a VOL fan i am surprised you guys had different last names BEFORE you got married!
JK!
