On the road now but just got confirmation from Paintsville that Landon Slone has committed. I am also told that PRP senior Adam Delph was visiting today. Kentucky boys everywhere! More later tonight.

Great walk on player won’t ever be much more… But will give 100% everyday..
March 31st, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Once again, Gillispie “gets” it.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:20 pm

March 31st, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Any chance we’ll get anybody over 6′7″?
March 31st, 2008 at 6:30 pm
I think this is a pretty good pickup for a walk on.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:31 pm
2) Thats what most walk-ons are for, if they were going to contribute they would get a scholarship. But I agree he will give 100% everyday and thats what we need with Gillispie’s practice structure.

Daren Horn to USC…if anyone was wondering…no surprise
March 31st, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Landon is at least 6′3 and a very polished player. He is a sharpshooter
who shoots over 40% from 3 and almost 90% from the line. But he is also
tough and can take it to the hole. Very smooth. Heard he was training in Huntington, WV
last summer with the guy that trained O.J Mayo. I think he averages around 25
points a game, but had 35 in the first round of the Sweet Sixteen against a
Louisville school. Kid is a player and steal for a walk-on.

I was also told today by someone within the department that Arrez Henderson from Cov. Holmes was on campus with the coach for a visit along some other players yet to be named.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:44 pm
That is some blue onions rite there.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Trevor Setty has also been offered as a preferred walk-on by Coach Gillispie. Setty is 6′7″ senior that can shoot the 3. I’ve yet to hear if he has accepted the offer. I was told that “Setty was nervous while Gillispie watched him play, but excited about the offer.”
Coach Gillispie was also asking about Russ Middleton on the same night (after the LSU game when Gillispie flew back to watch Mason Co. vs. Elliott Co.). Gillispie said “who is number 33″. He was told that Middleton had committed to Georgetown College, but was told by the G-town coach to pursue any better offers. Middleton is a 6′4″ junior at Mason County.

I loved the interview with him. Kids that grow up dreaming of playing for UK will work there butts off to help the team. BCG knows this and was a good reason to bring him in. GO CATS
March 31st, 2008 at 7:14 pm
If it wasn’t for Setty and Middleton, Mason wouldn’t have got past Elliott in the Sweet 16. They were shooting some daggers from long distance that night.
But it’s good to know that Gillispie gets it. With the way his practice is structured, he needs good walk-ons to help push his scholarship players in practice. Hell, maybe one of these guys can turn those great practices into on court time.
It worked for Curry, who must be a practice warrior to get all the starts he did.

Mr. Wildcat needs our prayers. He’ll be ok though because he survived 10 years of Tubby so this fall ain’t nothing!!!!
March 31st, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Love that Henderson was on campus. He’s a great Gillispie player, as I mentioned in the Sweet 16 recap. Great thing about this Slone get is that Henderson said he’s the strongest player he’s played against since Preston Knowles. That worked out pretty well for the Cards.
