[Moderated by Matt Jones]

Tonight was by far the worst night of NCAA Tournament basketball that I can remember. Four games, all four of which were routs and very little to get excited about at any point. The six teams that have been the best since the beginning of February (UNC, UCLA, Kansas, Louisville, Memphis and Texas) are all still in the tournament and are making roadkill of everything that comes in their path. The other two teams that have made the cut are from second (or third) tier conferences, but are playing more interesting and exciting games than any of the top teams.
In fact, if it were not for Stephen Curry, then tonight would have been a total disaster. But man Stephen is fun to watch. 33 points tonight and he is now averaging 34 a game for the tournament. He was so exciting tonight that even LeBron James got out of his seat to cheer him on. Davidson is playing with such confidence and their second tier guys are doing wonderful, but the story is all about Curry all the time. Not since Chris Jackson have I seen a guy that makes me so confident that every shot he takes will go in. He has so much fun playing the game and every time he has the ball you have to watch. I dont think Davidson has even a puncher’s chance against Kansas….at least on paper. But Curry has been amazing and if he can pull it off on Sunday, it will be one of the great college basketball individual performances of my lifetime.
UNC-Louisville tomorrow night will be special, as the tournament now gets good. Never before can I remember a time when the six best teams have all still been in the tournament at this late of a juncture. Add to that the fact that we have a legitimate shot of four #1 seeds in the Final Four, and this weekend should be great.

Memphis is loaded with talent, but not really impressed with the way they play at times.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:01 am
I just hope UNC loses soon because they’re catching UK in all time wins. I hope Pitino crushes UNC and then I hope Pitino gets crushed!!!!!!! I’m for Davidson to win it all. If that doesn’t happen, GO MEMPHIS!!!

Huge home advantage for Texas = huge victory for the Longhorns.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:14 am
As far as I’m concerned, the title is Bill Self’s to lose.

The UT/Stanford game wasn’t as much as a rout as the other two games. It was actually pretty interesting for 2/3 of the game when it was Texas 52 - Stanford 51.

curry kinda reminds me of a young obama… without the mole of course.
March 29th, 2008 at 7:46 am
Now the tournament gets good???
March 29th, 2008 at 8:02 am
Yea tonight will be special, Matt… now that your closet door has been removed, you can wear your team colors with pride (black sweatshirt, red sunburned face).
Hmmm, wearing a black sweatshirt to a public place to watch a Lousyville game (in Lousyville). I can see why you were mad about the Courier Journal pic, that was clearly Duke black.

As the tournament now gets good, you know… for everyone INSIDE the Jefferson county line.
As Matt is thinking, “What better scenario than to root on your team against your all time hated team just down Tobacco Rd”
Wait, Matt. How does Kentucky play into this again?
March 29th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Curry is so fun to watch. He moves so hard without the ball, and, like matt said, every shot he takes I assume is going in. Kansas looks like they will win, but they KU better play a full 40 minutes, you don’t want the Curry to get to t HOT!
Just had to throw that line in there.
March 29th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Yes, Chris Jackson was unreal, especially his frosh season. People tend to forget how unbelievable he was. I remember Curry’s dad, Dell, well. Great shooter and he once shot down UofL in the old Metro Conference days. But his son can definitely put it on the floor and get to the rim better than his old man.
March 29th, 2008 at 8:38 am
Don’t you all know it’s the mature and right thing to do to root for your in-state rival? NOT!!! Mark my words, there’s a girl/woman behind this.

I was just thinking about UK’s bball team next year. We will be long and be attacting the basket. But out of our 8 key players (Patterson, Meeks, Jasper, Stevenson, Liggins (hopefully), Miller, Galloway, Harris) only one seems like they can shoot the 3 ball (meeks). We will have plenty of long perimeter players, and I think BCG plans on running upi and down the floor with this team more.
2 wholes that I see (1) Another big man (2) 2nd 3 point shooter. When Meeks is not hot we need someone else to be able to step in and get hot from behind 3 line. Can we say Porter anyone?
March 29th, 2008 at 8:45 am
attacking not attacting…holes not wholes. Rough morning
March 29th, 2008 at 8:51 am
13, couldn’t you have said “We will be long and attacking the hole” instead of attacking the basket? There’s nothing like waking up in the morning and dropping a good “thats what she said line”.
I thought it was there for a moment.
March 29th, 2008 at 9:04 am
i agree with you 13.. This is where the loss of Legion will hurt but lets hope billy g gets a perimeter player..I am sure he will.
But I think we need two more shooters..
I see these teams that are going far, most of them have 3-4 players that can knock down the trey consistently.
March 29th, 2008 at 9:14 am
Jones, I wouldn’t exactly say UCLA is making roadkill out of their opponents at this point, but I guess you have to keep singing that tune for your bracket’s sake.
Let’s go X!

Rumor is Patterson had successful ankle surgery yesterday

What are the odds of two different schools in both Women’s AND Men’s Basketball playing each other in the NCAA Tournament (Regional Play, no less) on the same day? Louisville playing
UT and UNC the last two days is like Notre Dame playing Russia in football, who do I root for? Russia, of course. The problem is in this case, there is no Russia. This reminds me when the Chicago Bears played the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL playoffs in the 80’s in the fog, and you could see nothing
on tv. Unfortuneatly there will be no fog in Charlotte today.

18, I am glad. I am tired of seeing that commercial almost as much as the Coach K - Coach J commercial. Has anybody noticed that they have stopped showing that now that Duke lost?
March 29th, 2008 at 10:04 am
#21 problem is now Coach K will be a studio analyst for the final four, i guess thats better than seeing him on the court
March 29th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Lets turn this into a recruiting forum. Has anyone heard anything lately?
March 29th, 2008 at 11:32 am
23. all is quiet like usual in LexVegas. Somebody needs to tell Scotty H that there is no
way UTenn wins with that style and the genious Bruce Pearl as a coach. He better come on down
and march into the final four with Meeks, PPat, and Darius next year!
March 29th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
I hear that. 24. Would be a great day if he commits.
Also with Flemings and Harrolson.
March 29th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Does anyone have info on which way he may be leaning?
March 29th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Heard something yesterday that said we were even
with UT right now. That his mom really liked the
attention from BCG. Said it would come down to
the visits and in-homes.
March 29th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
thanks 27 thats good to hear
March 29th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
What happened to all the parity in college Bball people were talking about? Did Davidson get all of it? Looks like the rich keep getting richer to me, all except UK. Hmmm. I wonder why that is?
March 29th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
24- I guessing Mr. Hopson is more interested in the kind of rings you buy as opposed to the kind of rings you win. IOW, he’d rather take the quickest route to the NBA and whether or not that means winning a title in college is neither here nor there. Besides, what are the odds that the one or two years he’s actually in school that the school he choses would win a title anyway?
This guy can have the spotlight on a team that is nationally recognized right now as a media darling, all the while playing in a system that lets him run rampart on offense as a showcase for his NBA resume. Hard to turn that down when you are 17 and know everything.
