“Rondo Power” SI cover, Wall on Dime mag

Rajon Rondo is the Sports Illustrated cover boy this week as his Celtics try to advance to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years. My source inside SI headquarters told me Rondo beat out Delonte West/Gloria James and this guy for the cover.

Also, our other favorite NBA point guard made the cover of this week’s issue of Dime mag:

That Bull Fighter being gored is crazy! And because that link is from The Huffington Post, we might have some Rand Paul talking Points in 3….2….1

  4. GoCats2010 Says:

Rajon = UK guy; Wa11 = UK guy. Gotta love it… are we officially point guard U. yet?

  9. afidler Says:

Who is the “Most controversial player in the draft”?

Is this an article on Cousins?

    Also, Wall IS the truth.

  10. Culver Says:

LOL at the bullfighter!!! He got what he deserved. I’ve had friends that have seen that crap live and upfront…said they were all hoping the bull would gore the matador’s sorry a$$. And my friends are all hardcore hunters and they couldn’t even grasp the extent of the animal cruelty that was happening in front of them.

Hypothetical question, but I think this applies.

I am grouping Rondo into the same group as Daniel Orton. They were both players that Cat fans had a hard time embracing, and especially after what Daniel has supposedly done to the Cats by leaving campus and not finishing classes, but what if Daniel becomes a huge star in the NBA? Do most of the people I saw blasting him (much like they did when Rondo was in blue and white) become instant fans and say they have “always supported him”?

A bit of a stretch to think DO can do what Rondo has done so far, but just wondering!

Either way, it’s good to see UK getting some good press.

  12. PatrickPattersonISwalkingthruthatdoor Says:

Rondo>>>>>Orton, at least in my eyes. Both in talent and in my appreciation of his time in Lexington.

Say what you want about Rondo’s aloofness while on the team, but he never put himself above the university.

  13. GeorgeCostanza Says:

    #5… I hope somehow there’s a big UK contingent
there for the live show— how cool would that be?
Maybe “someone” will be organizing a caravan!

  14. KyleMacysSocks Says:

I think Rondo was more loved while at UK then people give him credit for, secondly he finished his classes (to my knowledge) before leaving early for the draft…with that being said I’m not gonna diss Orton, I was excited to see him in Blue and cheered him on all season long but it is disappointing to find out he lied to us all and skipped out on his classwork

  15. cthom Says:

Rondo accomplished WAY more than Orton. Expectations were high for his Sophomore year and his season was not as good as some fans expected. If Orton would have stayed, he could have had a great 2nd year, but we will never know.

  16. SeoulCat Says:

Rondo never lied to the fans, he never d*cked over the program the way Orton has. Also, he (Rondo) was able to produce on the court. Not only was he our leading scorer, but he also led the team in rebounds (if not for the entire season, at least for a good chunk of the season) in his final year. The only thing Orton led the team in was GPG (goaltends per game) and FOL (flat out lies).

Rondo will always be considered a part of BBN….Orton? He’ll always be remembered as the guy who p*ssed all over BBN.

  17. lextc176 Says:

    Sometime the bull wins, senor

  18. HackRichards Says:

Orton does not appreciate the fact that is if Coach Cal had not arrived on the scene…….he would still be a college student…if he passed his classes. Billy Clyde could not have had the impact that this staff has had.

  19. DoubleZeroMostel Says:

11, Lest you forget, Rondo was from Kentucky. I don’t think there’s any question who UK fans will support more. Plus, as has been mentioned on here before, Rondo did come back for senior day to honor Ramel and Joe, I doubt DO will be back to honor Jon Hood.
