[Moderated by Matt Jones]

from today’s press conference:
Patrick Patterson: “I started crying when I found out I couldnt play….”
There is a guy that loves the University and his teammates….he also added “we will keep trying to win and we will win.” Good stuff
Billy Gillispie: When asked by Tipton if there could be a tougher game to play right after an injury, he said, “bring it on.”
Now I REALLY like that….

Bradley and Crawford score 30 points each UK wins 81-74
February 29th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
LOVE GILLISPIE!
February 29th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
People might talk about how UT might be pumped trying to redeem the vandy loss. But if this game were to be decided by being pumped over what has been lost…we could have the edge. (Although I don’t think that will ultimately decide the games outcome.)
PS-I love these two quotes.
February 29th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
I think Patterson will be a great cheerleader for his teammates, what a great player and person.
February 29th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
PTI just gave us a 1% and 2% chance of beating UT Sunday…I thought that was generous
February 29th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
You also have to love his response to the NBA questions.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
If I had a man crush on anyone it would be Patrick Patterson. I just hope BCG can do right by him and get him a talented big man to play next with. Not looking good though.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
I can only hope that Tennessee overlooks us. Please let Perry play like Wilt.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
I think Jared Carter is going to have a breakout game…..3 rebounds and 6pts.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
The above two quotes are the future of Kentucky Basketball.
And the future is very, very bright.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
10. Per your namesake, I was hoping at the press conference it was “DustyMillswalkingthruthatdoor”
February 29th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Matt will you please post the press conference as soon as possible. I cannot find it anywhere. It would huge for those of us that could not get to a computer in time.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Dusty would have just got cursed at had he walked through that door.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Anyone know where I can find all of the press conference quotes? I’ve looked in the usual places but to no avail, I’m sure I’ve just overlooked it but any help would be appreciated.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
UK RPI is at 56 today??
February 29th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Just as though we are cursed from the injury, we may be also helping in the way that someone who normally doesn’t put up big numbers will step in for Patterson. GO Cats!!
February 29th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Anything is possible people! To start bashing the guys that we need the most right now is really counter productive. Not that they read this blog, but you never know. If Carter needs to step in, he needs to do it with all of you behind him and not cracking jokes. Support your team! Patrick will.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Any Patterson or Lucas news, Matt?
February 29th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Jamel Paris out for Football Cats next year as well. Per Alan Cutler. Not injury, not grades. He knows nothing else except he’s not playing next year.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
(19) i *heard* it was forever. medical condition of some sort. who knows.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Maybe the sewage on UK’s campus has infiltrated our athletic dorms?
February 29th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
I got chills when I read Coach Gillispie’s quote… Hopefully, he can get the team thinking the same thing.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
What a lousy day. first Patterson, now Cousins, who committed to UAB today.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
I would urge everyone to read the post “Enough” on this blog, A Sea of Blue. It really got me fired up to support this team, even though this is a tough setback! GO CATS! http://www.aseaofblue.com/
February 29th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Just a question-How in the HELL do you pick UAB over Kentucky??? I know hes good friends with Davis or whatever but GD. You maybe play one game a year on national tv, and your team is lousy every year…you will never win an NCAA championship…Look at Vaden, if he plays the way he has been playing this year for a top 25 team, hes getting player of the year considerations…Cousins goes to UK 1) hes a celebrity 2)plays for an elite team, with elite facilities, for an elite coach 3)he plays along another dominant big man which only helps his game 4)he has an oppurtunity to win a National Championship….Ridiculous…I hope he breaks both of his legs
February 29th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
#23 don’t foget we also found out today that Jamil Paris done playing
football forever. Prayers go out to him as well
February 29th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Feb. 29th. Must a bad day. They say the stock market goes down every Feb. 29th, and the DOW dumped over 300 pts. today.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
#25 thats just ridiculous, he’s from Alabama, maybe he wanted to stay close to home?
February 29th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
25) but either way that comment is out of line
February 29th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
25. You’re right. We should force kids who don’t want to go to Kentucky to come play here. Really?
Geez. Its OK man. ITS BASKETBALL! You’re living a good life is this is all you’re worried about.
February 29th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
GOOD NEWS
Our Baseball team is ranked and won their 6th game today to go 6-0
Go Big Blue
keep it going Coach Cohen
February 29th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
We are KENTUCKY! We have had this sort of stuff before, and will in the future.
What we need to do is support the guys, and appreciate that they will play hard and accept the challenge. That is all we can ask of them….
February 29th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
24… thanks for the link. Definitely helped.
February 29th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Yeah, 25, that’s the most ignorant thing I have heard in a long, long time.
February 29th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Is it possible that Cousins committed to UAB because he knew
Derrick Favors is coming to the BBN? Total spekulation on my part
but wouldn’t it be nice???
GO CATS!!!
February 29th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
As bad as this is, and it’s terrible(can’t believe I’m going to say this)I almost think this could be a good thing Long Term. I would love to see the cats get to Post Season as much as anyone, and they still may, but any chance of making any kind of noise in the dance is probably a pipe dream. I am really anxious to see how Clyde approaches filling this slot. Will it be Carter? Will he go very small? Will Stewart finally grow up and pull his head out of his a$$? This is a chance for 1 or more players to earn their stripes. It will be interesting to watch. Film at 11:00
February 29th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
The news on PP really hurts!
But, its time to move forward, complete this season as well as possible.
Not that I have high expectations of, but lets not count out guys like Jared Carter.
February 29th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
yeah im ignorant..whatever…just hard for me to believe…Cousins should have taken the granola, its smart and sensible..not the dandy doodle…yeah if he wants to stay close to home then ok…I know im biased by I just dont see how you choose a UAB over a UK…30) Where did I say “force” jackass?
February 29th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
38) I dont get it either
February 29th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Anybody think Rondo doesnt want the Celtics to sign Cassell? He has 15 assists through 3 quarters
February 29th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
#40
As much as I like Rondo, the C’s cant win it all with him at the point for a stretch of seven game series..Cassell brings alot of playoff games and can only help Rondo get better. It’s been to long (1986) since they won #16 and I’m sure Ainge isn’t going to let this one slip away. But none the less,he’s dropping dimes on ‘em!!
February 29th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
I agree with you that Cassell would help relieve Rondo and might be better in the clutch(Rondo’s free throws ain’t exactly pretty). Rondo sure fell into a bed of roses getting Pierce, Garnett, and Allen to pass to!
February 29th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
BCG was referring to post #25 when he said “about like some people I know……….a broken clock is right two times a day.”
February 29th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Cattillac is my CP screenname, now I’m busted!!
February 29th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
38. You’re right. You didn’t say force, you just want his legs broken. My bad. Keep it real, man. You should curse more too. It makes you sound REALLY tough.
February 29th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
On a similar note, just heard from a someone who works in Hopkins Co. that Jon Hood, junior at Madisonville North-Hopkins, and potential UK recruit, broke his wrist last night and is out for the season as well.

The fight has just begun. So I say to my fellow UK fans pick up your signs throw an extra beer in the cooler and meet me in Tennessee where I will be in my Kentucky Wildcat blue cheering for a team filled with heart and deturmanation. As the cheers get louder and louder C..A..T..S..CATS.CATS.CATS I will once again beleive. Just like the evening Out Football team was counted out against LSU,I beleived then and by God I do now.lets see what happens once the dust settles and scratch has ol’ smoky pinned down with his razor sharp teeth grasping smokys throat. God be with this team and let them be victorious… I Bleed BLUE.
P.S. Pat get well soon.
February 29th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
#49, You’ve made me believe even more with that post. Well said, I’d probably give anything to be at that UT game. Can’t wait to see the headlines the following day:
“Undermanned Kentucky walks into hostile territory in Tennessee and claws its way out winners and SEC champions once again”
*drools* This might have been a bad day but tomorrow will be better….I just know it.
March 1st, 2008 at 12:00 am
Go Big Blue!!!
March 1st, 2008 at 12:10 am
Agreed…. Go Big Blue………
but can I add that Jerry Tipton is an ass clown
March 1st, 2008 at 2:25 am
(52) that is a redundant statement, lol
March 1st, 2008 at 11:02 am
“bring it on.” to those who want to defeat our wildcats or our country.
coach and pres both said it.
March 1st, 2008 at 4:11 pm
We have had our ups and downs but we have been in a fight all year long. If it wasn’t injuries and referees it was the media. Patterson’s injury just add fuel to the two seniors fire, and I look forward to seeing 30-40 point games from those guys the rest of the year as well as the stepping ups of all the other guys. Coach BCG has done a wonderful job to this point and will do a more than excellant job from here forward. I tip my hat (UK HAT) to coach and this 2007-2008 team. as we approach one of my favorite holidays heres an Irish blessing It is said that when you are sober you commit sins lets all get drunk and go to Heaven. GO CATS!!!!!!!!
March 1st, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I know this team will fight through this setback because they have extremely large nuts. They always fight balls out and thats why I will always be proud of these guys. I love the CATS and think we have a bright future ahead of us, but anybody who thinks Gillispie isn’t building from the bottom floor up is mistaken. Our bench is not talented at all and if we can do anything against UT then it is all Gillispie. One thing I do like though is that this means more shots for Ramel and Joe which I will enjoy watching. I don’t know who is going to step up tommorrow and fill Patterson’s void but someone must.
On a recruiting note…I’m not at all worried about Gillispie getting guys in here that can play ball, but it seems like the Kentucky name has gone a little bit stale. I know it will take some time for BCG to change that yet I know he will. I support BCG because I know he is absolutely working his ass off on the recruiting trail and on the court. It just baffles me to think that our bench is so bad that we are worried about making the tournament next year with players like Patterson, Meeks, and Jasper along with two top 40 recruits coming in. Next year will be alot like this one, but in 2009 I look for things to get alot better. Right now we as fans need to have patience and support our team like we never have before. If anyone starts ragging on the CATS, YOU TELL THEM THAT YOU BELIEVE. YOU TELL THEM TO JUST WAIT. YOU TELL THEM THAT WE WILL BE BACK ON TOP REAL SOON. GO CATS, BABY!!!!!
March 2nd, 2008 at 4:25 am
Damn Right #56 God’s light will shine on the Wildcats again, But I think you still have to beleive that sundays game will be the breaking out of some of these guys. I have a feeling about Carters and Stewart that is just so warm, I cant really explain it.. Yeah I know there are some smart asses out there who are going to have bad things to say about these guys but think about it….. These guys wanted to play for the best so guess where they are.. now its time for them to show why they are here. So all I have to say now is Get-R-Done boys Next target UT how about one more Orange Crush this B-ball season go get em CATS!!!!!!
