I am not sure what to make of this. For a minute or so, this guy gives us his thoughts (with a cap on back) about the UK season up to this point and whether they deserve to be in the tournament. But then after that first minute, he plays random UK clips and we are left staring at his face….is this awful or post-modern brilliance? You decide….

This is clearly post-modern awfulness.

Your whole site is post-modern brilliance Matt…
BTW, I’m impressed you know the meaning of post modernism…maybe you can be my lawyer after all (if you are a post-modern lawyer and argue that there is no absolute-truth)

That depends on what your definition of ‘IS’ is.

I think many lawyers argue exactly along the lines of your post…very post-modern and pretty sad as well.

I don’t have that story, but I bet it’s a refernce to how he acted towards the media and his team.
The players painted a different postgame picture.
“Coach is a deceiving guy,” said forward Patrick Patterson, who had 15 points and four rebounds. “He may be all smiles out here with the media, but with us back in the locker room, with family, he’s a different guy. He was real disappointed with everybody tonight.”

Who thinks the cats will beat UT Sunday? Anything new on Meeks? Is there any chance that any of the coaches will be in Hopkinsville tomorrow night to see Scotty Hopson and Ty Edmondson play for the eighth district championship?
February 28th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I am hoping we beat Tennessee but just keeping it close will show selection committee that the Vandy game was a fluke. If we get blown out again, our two wins against them in January will look less special in their eyes. I really hope that we are pursuing Hopson because scoring will be a bigger issue next year than it is this year. I have wonderful pictures in my head of Liggins feeding Patterson in the post, kicking it out to Meks for a three, and hitting Miller and Hopson cutting to the basket.
February 28th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
You oughta check out the bruce pearl blog comment, I am having a pretty good discussion with a UT fan who contends that UT is now a better bball school than UK b/c of two decent years of “recent” success…
February 28th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
I hope Patterson really likes BCG. Some of the press makes me wonder. I hope its all baseless speculation. I really think Pat can go from a 2-3 year, $3-400K/yr. contract to a 6-8 year $1-3 million/yr. contract if he waits a year or two. His work ethic reminds me of Tyler Hansbrough, and I really think Tyler will earn a lot more $$$ in his lifetime as a result of staying 2-3 extra years. I hope PPat takes a lesson from the Hansbrough playbook.
February 28th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
19 - what a joke… although UT does have an edge in recruiting players who want to run.
CBS loves Gillispie and the Cats… From Doyel to Parrish, the Cats are getting some love. New article:

#20 I was thinking the same thing. Patterson is similar to Hansborough except Patterson is stronger and with better hands. I think staying through his junior year he will be a player of the year candidate like Hansborough is this year.

Realtime rpi is now 59.

Any one who thiks BCG should be an ass in front of the press should think again..
If I where in his shoe’s I would be the same way smiles out in public and a hugh ass to a team that came out and gave up a 20+ lead in the 2nd half. I mean why air dirty laundry, Keep it behind closed doors. When they do great then give credit but when they dont come down on them.
I would love to see the cats win sunday but I fear they will let the Vols crowd get in there heads. but we will have to wait and see. Go Cats…

You brought back a name from the past Richard Madison!Actually the 87-88 team was pretty good with the exception of Mike ScoTT.
February 28th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
OK, CBS, we forgive you…
Conspiracy theorists take note: Not that the press for Coach G and the Cats is not deserved, but…
Does anyone think that all of the favorable press from CBS today might be something of a peace-offering for their screw-up during the Arkansas game? The Cats are not only the topic of the first three links on (CBS)sportsline.com’s Men’s College Basketball page, Coach BCG and Joe C. are pictured on the front page (top story). These “never-quit” Cats deserve all the love they get, but all of a sudden the Cats are CBS’ favorite story. Any thoughts?

Happy B’day to Tayshaun Prince and Tommy Kron who just recently passed away would’ve been 65.”I give him a lot of credit for being the complete team player and helping make the Rupp’s Runts what they were,” said former UK head coach Joe B. Hall, who was Rupp’s assistant coach during the 1965-66 year.
February 28th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
They might have a better team, but they will NEVER have a better program. The Blue Mist will see to that.

Click on Dreaming of dancing link and look at reader comments.Parrish got a chewing from a UK fan, lol!!!You know alot of people kicked us when we were down and it sucked big time.UK is not back by any means but you can slowly see how writers are starting to give us some good pub.We both know a lopsided loss Sunday and the critics will be back.
February 28th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
realtime rpi now 58!
February 28th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
30 - I got a kick out of that.
31 - Great news. I’m glad to see the Cats in the 50’s (Thanks Pitino). Unfortunately, Oral Roberts is about to get a road win, (over S. Dakota St. win an RPI in the 300’s). I don’t know if the road win will overtake the low-RPI opponent, but ORU may move ahead of the Cats yet again tonight.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
#30 I also saw in the comments a UK fan saying Jared Carter was starting to come on. The most knowledgeable UK fans must save their comments for cbssportsline
February 28th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
What is the chance that Arizona does not make the NCAA tournament and UK does? If I am not mistaken, that would make UK the active record-holder for consecutive NCAA men’s basketball tournament appearances.
Note: Arizona has an RPI of 17. They have 10 losses, a 7-7 conference record, and if USC holds on to win… their RPI will drop and they will be in sixth place in the PAC-10 with a 7-8 record. Unfortunately, their RPI will likely still get them in (kind of like the Cats last year). I’m all about the Cats holding NCAA records. I’ll add this one to my wish list.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
#32 The S. Dakota St. will hurt Oral Roberts RPI, just like win or lose Sunday our RPI will improve. Obviously it will go up more with a win.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
GoCats - I didn’t read the comment, but it was probably derived from Coach BCG’s comments on his call-in show. Someone has asked about Carter almost every week in the last month or so. Coach BCG always says he is really improving, is practicing well, and he expects him to come in to the game and really contribute in the very near future.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
GoCats
I called into the show and told Matt Jared Carter was a 20 and 12 guy!! I mean if the kid could just get 10 and 10,we would be in terrific shape, but as you know if and buts were candy and nuts…..
February 28th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
35 - I expect you are correct, but I am not sure… The low opponent RPI hurts, but a road win really helps the part of the formula based upon win pct. (e.g. - I expect a road win at South Carolina would help our RPI just as the win in Baton Rouge did)
February 28th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
I am a very patient fan, if Carter improves to where he can contribute his Junior and Senior year I will be thrilled. We have had a lot of players who contributed little until their senior years(Mills, Allen Edwards) Carter just needs to improve foot speed, all his moves take so long to happen, Dusty Mills could block him.
RPI 56, Oral Roberts dropped below us even though they won because they played a crappy team.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
34 I am with you, and while Arizona has a very tough schedule and has won some very tough games, you gotta think that if they lose tonight and they dont go far in the pac-10 tourney there will be a big debate over them as well. Same can be said for the Syracuses Miamis and Marylands out there. I think we are all in the same boat.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
this is a shot in the dark and may have been on here two weeks ago for all i know…..I dont check scout or rivals very often, but it looks like cousins has us at high and has moved UAB to medium on his interest level??? doesn’t mean much anyways, just throwing that out there!
February 28th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
Him and Kige as a tandem?? They could take over Mike and Mike!!
February 28th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
41 - It was brought up in the last week or two… Nonetheless - it is still recruiting news and great news at that. Supposedly, DeMarcus has a very strong relationship with UAB coach Mike Davis. Cousins would be a great addition to the UK roster.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
GoCats - you are correct sir. Fortunately, UK does not play anymore teams in the RPI 2-300 range. That is more than I can say for the likes of WKU and Stephen F. Austin, who we may pass by default, win or lose. Strength of schedule can be a real factor late in the season.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
I think this video is post modern brilliance.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
that must make you 1. him or 2. his brother
February 28th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Arizona lost at home. Oregon drops from 56 to 58 in the RPI. UK still at 56. Here is a question:
There has been much discussion of late as to the minimum RPI (general consensus was around 70) that the Cats needed to achieve to be considered by the selection committee. What is the lowest RPI team ever to NOT make it into the tournament???
February 28th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
#47 sounds like an assignment for the intern in tomorrow’s picks to click. That’s what interns are for

Bob Knight is going to be an analyst for ESPN. I am blown away by this. BOB KNIGHT!! The man who made life hell for media types for years is now going to be a media type. Granted he won’t be conducting interviews, but he will be throwing his opinion around after making it clear he didn’t like it when people threw opinions around. I am dumbfounded.
February 29th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Miami (Ohio) owns the lowest RPI (29) for a team not to make the NCAA field. In 2005 they went 19-11
February 29th, 2008 at 2:36 am
WHY would you decide to video yourself mumbling about the Cats and then never look at the camera??? I don’t get it– then he starts blowing piss-poor bubbles with his gum. That was just weird– LOOK AT THE CAMERA!! SPEAK CLEARLY!! He gets a big, fat failing grade in my book. He seemed like he was either stoned or rolling on some X. Seriously, why would you want that floating around youtube?
