With it being such a long week between games, the news is starting to dry up fast. So, if these stories dont getcha going, then start arguing about Alex Legion, UK Recruiting, and Dana Jacobson. On to the links:
1. Short interview between the Courier-Journal and Giants QB Jared Lorenzen.
2. Quick update on Aaron Boyd and his recruitment. If the Cats can pick him up, it finishes off a very good class, if they don’t, still a better than normal class. Personally, who would have thought the way UK fans treated Shane Boyd would come back to hurt them if Aaron decides not to come.
3. More good stories about Perry Stevenson and his improved play.
4. I dropped doing this because it seemed pointless at the time but I thought I would bring it back now that it seems more likely. So, it’s Thursday which means a closer look at the Cats resume as we press into February. Here is the overall RPI.
Current RPI: 134
Record against Top 50: 2-4
Record against +100: 7-2
Worst Loss: Gardner-Webb (254)
Best Wins: Tennessee (1), Vanderbilt (14)
Average RPI of opponents in wins: 208
Average RPI of opponents in losses: 80
Remaining Games against Top 50: 5 (Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas)
5. A pretty funny video showing George Bush trying to talk about football and the Super Bowl.

I think we can win some good quality games and maybe make the NCAA based on our reputation. Am I dreaming? No. You see it every year. Why not us?
Also, first! I know, I know…..

I wish we wouldn’t have lost to Gardner Webb and certainly not to San Diego in the same season. I think that will kill us. unless we win the SEC Tournament.
January 31st, 2008 at 10:56 am
Nice Stevenson story. If he had softer hands he would be great on this team. All this team needs to do is get rid of all the turnovers ans we will finish 12-4 in the SEC. Make it to Sunday in the tourney and we are in the Big Dance! Sounds simple to me!

I think there is something wrong with the Bush clip, his lips dont match the sound

Anyone have a link to the Kenny Mayne interview with Lorenzen? I would really like to read that.

Wow, week post today intern.

week=weak

#6-Week? That’s something the Bryan the intern would do.
Further, just so people know, Bryan didn’t point out that that was a voice overlay on the bush video. Kind of funny, but that spoof is getting old.
Further, Joker had a 2 hour visit with Boyd after he got back from oregon. I think we’re in good shape.

You need to start including the other SEC teams in your NCAA watch. After last night the Vandy win really doesn’t help UK at all. It looks like Vandy might be this year’s Clemson starting off undefeated and not making the tourney.
Tennessee, Florida, and Mississippi look like locks right now. Mississippi State and Arkansas would also get in and maybe Vandy. There is no way the SEC gets in more than 6 teams this year. Kentucky doesn’t just need to move up in the RPI, they need to be better on paper than Miss. State, Arkansas, and Vandy.

Bush LOL his lips never match anything he is saying. He has the reading level of a 3rd grader.

BCG had a nice win over Texes yesterday.LOL
January 31st, 2008 at 11:45 am
They need to badly win the
SEC Tourney.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:52 am
Dear Santa,
I have been a good boy all year and I have never said a bad word about Matt Jones or Bryan the Intern - SO - All I want for March Madness is for UK to be selected - OH - and for them to win the SEC Tourney, it makes the 1st request easily happen.

7) It was a “week” post today, but i challenge anybody to find GOOD UK stories during a week with no games LOL, and I think I should be comended on no spelling errors today
January 31st, 2008 at 12:11 pm
Shameless spin of UK’s RPI ranking: notice that UK is one of only two teams outside the RPI top 100 (Northern Iowa) with 2 wins against the RPI top 50. Extra credit work for my bracketology class.
January 31st, 2008 at 12:13 pm
15) *edit 3 teams (East Carolina). Extra Credit = fail!
January 31st, 2008 at 12:13 pm
that george bush video was real stupid, no offense..not funny at all and poor impression!
January 31st, 2008 at 1:20 pm
14, I will “commend” you for your subtle spelling humor. Well played.

when was that picture taken? when did he get in against the Patriots? i didnt know he got a marriage proposal also! J-load is the man!
January 31st, 2008 at 2:07 pm
It would be really good to finally get some tall receivers. They come in handy and most quality teams have at least 2. But why do I feel like Boyd will reject UK and go somewhere else? I hope I’m wrong.

Good job Bryan!!! Interesting post!

great perry stevenson article…i think it’s interesting how multiple players (stevenson in this article) are being quoted saying something to the effect of “coach is pretty much always right.” i think this point really comes across in the team’s play of late. the team seems singularly focused and together for the first time in some time. and they are proving that there is nothing you cannot accomplish if they play together. they are a very fun group to watch play ball right now and i have to give coach a lot of credit for his player and team development.

Hey intern Euton had a pretty good game.. which led to a win against Elliot Co which was ranked 5th in the state at the time… i thought this was prob. one of his most impressive games so far.
January 31st, 2008 at 2:25 pm
aaron boyd has repeatedly said he would make up his mind before the 6th, but not announce his decision until then.
if he decides for UK, wouldn’t it help him and the team for him to announce it early?? might influence a couple of others who are on the fence.

#22 - I agree. with the old regime there were two times that OTS seemed to lose the team 1) when the lodge was being remodled and Des Allison was causing trouble, and 2) when Rondo came in causing trouble. Those personalities clashed and made the team not jell.
It was time for a change and it looks like there’s a little more camaraderie. Joe and Bradley haven’t changed their style but they do seem an inch more team oriented (at least on defense). Maybe they finally matured, but I give BCG some credit.

How about some links to the upcoming UFC PPV since it is a slow news week? Brock Lesnar (of WWE fame) is making his UFC debut against Frank Mir, who seems to finally be fully back after a motorcycle accident that sent him flying 70 feet through the air and breaking his femur and tearing every ligament in his knee. Some of you may have seen the clip of Tim Sylvia (the big huge goofy looking guy who got beat badly by Randy Couture last year) getting his arm broken by an armbar a couple of years ago. The guy that broke his arm is Frank Mir. That was his last fight before the accident. Tim Sylvia is also fighting on Saturday for the interim heavyweight belt.

Unsigned Latavious Williams misses second straight game
Uncommitted ESPN 150 prospect Latavious Williams sat out his second consecutive game Tuesday because of a strained knee, reports The Clarion Ledger. The 6-foot-7 power forward is considering offers from Kentucky, Minnesota, Tennessee and Southern Illinois.
January 31st, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Has Kentucky made a scholarship offer to Latavious Williams? If this is true, does anyone have a link to a news story? I don’t mean to doubt you, but that list is very different from what I have been hearing… Miss. St., et al and possibly a Junior College.
January 31st, 2008 at 9:33 pm
#10 You have about the same writing level.

Not that I ever really needed another reason to think Seth Davis is a complete and utter buffoon, but for those who thought otherwise to this point, check out his “jig-saw man” article on SI.com. What he’s trying to do is find one player from a team that’s not exactly on a winning team and place him on a “contending” team that needs his help. Several issues arise.
First, apparently he sees Kentucky as a “contender” this year, as we made the list. Secondly, he claims our biggest need is a “combo guard” due to Bradley’s “inconsistent” play. Are you F-ing kidding me? I swear we’re on CBS 5 times a year, and this douche does the halftime shows yet obviously doesn’t watch the game. Bradley’s the reason we’re not 7-11 right now, and we need another big man. Tell me somebody else read this and head butted their monitor too…
