Let the Michael Scott jokes begin! Evan Daniels of Scout.com is reporting Enes Kanter has committed to Kentucky. The 6′11″ Turkish big man has been a late arrival on the recruiting scene and originally committed to Washington way back when. But now Daniels says he has cast his lot with UK today. According to Daniels, who has been high on this kid from the moment he arrived, Kanter has the complete skill package and is a big man who can do it all. He is not really the typical Euro big man that stays on the outside. According to Daniels, he likes to mix it up down low and can be a force on the post.
The issue with Kanter will be his eligibility to play next year. He played in Europe and will likely have to deal with his status there and his amateurism here. There have been some rule changes to make it easier for players to come to America and play college basketball and Kanter turned down a number of pro offers in Europe to come play college basketball here. He believes playing for Calipari is the way to the promised land and if this year’s draft class is any indication, he is correct.
A big get for Kentucky and someone who will fill many needs when he gets to Lexington. Plus Jorts hosted him on his visit. You cant beat it.

Not related to this post, but here is an ESPN article written about “Mike” Coury…way to do research ESPN. Basically it praised Coury for continuing his education…what, did they expect him to be “one and done”…laughable considering he will never see the NBA. I guess they dont take into account that he started under Gillespie.

I feel like this may be a risky move, but I hope not. That is all I have read about for a couple months now is about his sketchy eligibility. I’m not pretending to know the rules with this stuff, but it worries me that that’s a lot of what has been written about Kanter. Plus, the video Dustin posted was nowhere near a highlight video comparable to what we saw from Boogie or even Orton when we were recruiting them. Looked like he takes a lot of layups in the video.

129) Highlight videos are never the whole story, good or bad. You can make ANY player look great or terrible depending upon your choice of clips and editing. That said, I would LOVE it if Kanter came here and was able to shoot a lot of lay-ups. Usually those equal points, which are, you know, good and stuff.
