The regular season is over, and the post season is about to begin. So as is the tradition that I just started, we will be giving away our KSR Regular Season Awards for Excellent Performances in the Face of Monumental Danger. Or RSAEPFMD’s for short.
-There has been plenty of debate this year as to who should receive Player of the Year. First it was somebody named John Wall, then it was going to be John Wall, then it was John Wall, then - for arguments sake - anybody not named John Wall. Finally the hive mind seems to have settled on Evan Turner, monster guard from Ohio State. Well, after taking up strips of paper with names written on them at the KSR compound, we have decided to give Player of the Year to Drew Franklins Bloody Lip. Not one podcast or liveblog has gone by without that joke being made, and it alone has helped Kentucky win more games than Ohio State. Suck on that buckeyes.
-Coach of the Year has been another hotly debated topic. Heavy money is on the Balding Orange man from New York, for taking a team that was predicted to finish in the middle of their league to the heights of losing to Louisville twice in one season, but here at KSR we have another pick for our Coach of the Year. This guy is a coach who coaches at a University that absolutely screams tradition. He has taken a historically successful program and completely changed it’s direction. From Championship contender to NIT hopeful, Roy Williams has earned the KSR Coach of the Year award. No one has done less with more Roy, keep up the good work.
-We’ve decided to limit the candidates for Game of the Year to Kentucky games because, frankly, those are the only ones we have watched. My favorite game of the year was when Kentucky walloped Drexel 88-44 to take the program to win number 2,000. I was watching it with my Aunt when she walked out of the room at 31-9 with ten minutes to go in the first half. But to me, the game seemed like a drink of cool water after hanging out with Billy Gillispie all night. After watching four years of Tubby/Billy ball… I could watch Kentucky run the score up all day.
-As you may know, here at Kentucky Sports Radio, we love the absurd. From pod casts in Hubby’s basement/bars in Frankfort, to CBS Road Trips of Death, to interviewing legitimate political candidates, the more bizarre the better. So what is our pick for the KSR play of the year? Nothing other than Boogie gets revenge.
So that’s our brief year in review. I’m sure we’ll have a more formal closing ceremony after we hang number 8, but until then, what were your favorite moments this season?

I was lucky enough to have seats under the basket in Gainsville and one of my very favorite plays was when Daniel Orton blocked three straight shots into the student section - even though Florida ended up scoring a 3, Big Daniel send a stern message that he was a shot blocking force to be reconned with - Daniel is going to be exciting next year - he has incredible timing and jumping ability
