Its GAMEDAY!!!!

gagdsgewwer

We are coming to you live from the Doubletree Hotel here in Nashville, Tennessee, which for these two days has officially become Lexington South. I was here last year for the Clemson game, but there may be even more Blue here this year than at the same time last season. The streets are full tonight with Cat fans and as soon as this post is finished, I will once again be one of them. You know it is a big event when you go to the lobby of your hotel to write your blog post from the night and sitting directly across from you is Rob Bromley…..folks, star power like that is not available everywhere.

The excitement however is not limited to just football….yes, the Cats are playing in the Music City Bowl against the living corpse, Bobby Bowden’s Florida State Seminoles (or at least those who didnt get the cheat sheet memorandum). But there is another game on the horizon as well as the Basketball Cats get ready to take on Florida International in a game that will literally be attended by dozens. In all actuality, the game in Rupp (which begins at 12 noon) stands a very good chance of being the lowest attended game in the history of Rupp Arena. Estimates have varied as to how many people will actually be there, but with virtually all of Big Blue Nation in Nashville, it is hard to forsee a large crowd to watch the 5-6 basketball team. Either way, the game is important….the Cats need it to get back to .500 and the morale of the team really requires a reversal in fortunes.

As for the events here in Nashville, it is going to be quite the scene. Having been around the city, I counted nine Florida State fans the entire time. I expect less of a presence for the Seminoles than Clemson brought last season. On the field, Keenan Burton continues to be doubtful, but Rich Brooks said today that the thinks the Cats are ready and focused on getting a victory. Alphonso Smith returns after a hiatus and is expected to carry quite a load during the game as the second featured back. As for the defense, it is as healthy as it has been all season and is ready to take on the challenge of the Seminole offense that is still relatively deep.

This is a big day for UK athletics and we hope you will follow it here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Brian the Intern will be taking you through the games during the day and I will be back tonight for a report from the field of the Music City Bowl. New Years Eve will be spent by the crew at the “Guilty Pleasures” 80s Music Show here in Nashville, which turned out to be a tougher ticket than U2 for reasons I dont understand but am interested in finding out. That is all for now…..it is late…..the crew wants to go out…..and Rob Bromley looks a bit irritable….time to go……

You should have called me Jones. I would have gotten you laid. Or at the worse..an HJ in Printer’s Alley.

    In other news:

The covers in Nashville for NYE are outrageous. Seriously. You’re paying 40-50 bucks for the opportunity to hang out with a bunch of tourists, drink watered down booze, and listen to T-Pain.

    Clyde & Brooks!

    GO GET’M CATS!

  4. Amzarak Says:

Matt, if you are serious about those tickets being harder to come by than U2’s, maybe, like me, people have become tired of the preachiness of U2 and just want to have a good ol’ time. I have every U2 cd, except for “Pop”, and they were at one time my favorite band. But the act has grown tired and I rarely listen to them anymore. I do respect some, not all, of Bono’s causes but I’m just tired of hearing about all the “injustices” in the world from politicians, celebrities, and the elite media - people, who by the way have no idea what is going on the “real” world because they live in a fantasy world.

If you weren’t serious, then this rant only applies to me.

I will be at the UK-FIU game, and then drive 2 hours home to catch the football cats on t.v. I may have to leave early from the b-ball game to catch the start of the football game. Never in my life would I have predicted ever saying those words. Anyway, I’ll let you know how many turn out for hoops.

  6. scfcats Says:

5 - I’ll be there too. I guess will have the whole place to ourselves. Seriously though, I didn’t fly from LV to watch these guys lose, so GO CATS.

  7. Cat Lady Says:

I predict 2 wins today for both the basketball and football Cats. It will be a fantastic day to be a Cat fan. Go Cats!!

More excited about today finally getting here than I have been about Christmas for a while, I always thought Christmas was great until I found out I was Santa Claus. The bb game is really important for getting started on our comeback but I have been looking forward to the bowl game since the season ended, hoping they regain their LSU form and go out with a bang!! Our seniors deserve a big win with lots of stats and it would make the SEC 3-0 also.

    *THE* Rob Bromley?

  12. Clandestine Says:

Amzarak, maybe Bono realizes there’s more to life than merely music?

Spent my first night married at the Doubletree in Nash-vegas, waiting on a plane to take me and my bride to Cancun.

    Great memories….

  15. goukcatsgo Says:

Matt Jones at it again with his inability to listen to the coaches relying on his “sources” Keenan burton will play. How much? It depends on how his knee holds up but he will play.

  16. kyblue Says:

What channel is the basketball game on @ noon?
