The newest ESPN Bracketology is out and I must say that I like it:
Milwaukee
(1) KENTUCKY (22-1)
(16) ROBERT MORRIS (16-8) / Northeast
(8) Baylor (16-5)
(9) Rhode Island (19-3)
San Jose
(5) Ohio State (18-6)
(12) Louisville (15-8)
(4) BYU (21-3) (13)
NORTHEASTERN (16-8) / CAA
Jacksonville
(6) Wake Forest (16-5)
(11) SIENA (20-4)
(3) Wisconsin (18-5)
(14) COLL OF CHARLESTON (16-8) / Southern
Buffalo
(7) Missouri (17-6)
(10) CHARLOTTE (18-5)
(2) West Virginia (19-3)
(15) COASTAL CAROLINA (17-4) / Big South
In general, I would love this bracket for UK. First of all, you get the #2 seed that I think UK matches up the best with, West Virginia. The Mountaineers are very talented, but arent great outside shooters and their inside presence is young and vulnerable. I would love to see Wisconsin and BYU as the #3 and #4 seeds, as UK’s athleticism would crush those teams’ spirits in a 40 minute game. Ohio State as a #5 seed is a bit concerning and the Wall vs Turner matchup would have people salivating across the CBS land. However I am not sure the Buckeyes could survive a Louisville/BYU back-to-back set. The only part I dont like is Baylor, as they are more talented than the seed and when clicking, can give anyone trouble. But my guess is that their hot/cold strategy might lead to an upset by Rhode Island and it wouldnt matter.
Simply put, this is a bracket that would make UK’s route to the Final Four look very smooth.

can we please stay close to home and make the dukies leave greensboro for once?
February 9th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Survive and Advance thats all you can hope for
February 9th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
I think that would be the easiest “road to the final 4″ EVER
February 9th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
Dukies will play in Greensboro. That’s a given. Always is.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
#1–They won’t get to play in G’boro this year…it will be Raleigh.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
#1 I lived in Greensboro and lets get one thing straight. DUKE fans dont live in NC. they dont. Students - Yes but fans - NO.
Greensboro is what it is but DUKE playing in up-state new york is more home cooking than down in NC. TRUST ME. Send those a-holes out WEST or in the SOUTH and watch them crumble.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
2.) Duke can be a 9 seed and still be in the state of North Carolina, or somewhere in the Appalachian region. FACT!!!
February 9th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
This can’t be right because Duke and UAB aren’t in our bracket. No Utah or Marquette this year so at least we get a break from them. Memphis will be a team that is always in our bracket too (when they make the tournament).
February 9th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
That is a nice bracket. I think we would destroy every team there based on our dominance in the post alone. Not a single team there has a post player that matches up against Patterson or Cousins alone, let alone together.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
I like that Duke has to campaign to not have UNC play in Greensboro the same years that they do, since it ends up being a hostile crowd. Of course that will not be a problem this year.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
7) who cares. its not about first round game location its the sweet 16 and elite 8 location. That when it has a chance to make or break ya.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
If you look at the full bracket this week, and if that were to hold as far as the no. 1 seeds, I think it is conceivable that all no. 1 seeds could make the final four this year: Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova, and Syracuse. Although it never, or rarely, seems to play out that way though.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
I’m happy if Marquette isn’t in the same bracket. That’s all I’m saying.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
Tennessee would lose in the first round (other side of bracket) if these matchups stayed…Murray State is one of the most underrated teams in the nation…They could be this year’s George Mason….you heard it from me first!!
February 9th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
11. Its not? huh thats crazy last time i checked you cant make it to the next elite 8 and 16 if you dont when the first 2….
February 9th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
You can pretty much count out the Pac 10 and Big 10 for the Final Four.
But you have to believe that the Big East teams are going to get favorable slots, as they’re the current media darlings.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Baylor beats UK in the second round. Ouch.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
Baylor won’t beat UK if they play.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:38 pm
don’t be so quick to count out M State, 16
February 9th, 2010 at 1:40 pm
19-I thought about that, but I just don’t see them making it that far.
They lost to North Carolina, so that has to count for something.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:44 pm
I would love to see that bracket… I think WVU would get knocked off before we see them anyway.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
I don’t believe there are any sites in North Carolina this year. So Duke will actually have to leave the state for once. Surely that must be an oversight on the part of the NCAA.
12. All four #1 seeds made the final four in 2008.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
Baylor has the front court depth and athleticism to play with UK, plus Lacedarius Dunn can go nuts and score 40. Scary team for an 8th seed.I think UK would still win, but not a favorable game that early.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
6. You are incorrect. I live in Charlotte and they are here. Not as many as UNC-CH, but there are plenty.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Anybody see the new UK Jersey I designed?
February 9th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
OSU is better than a 5 seed
February 9th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
Let’s get Duke in our bracket; the Cats would crush those boys, they have no one to match up w/ Boogie or Wall…
February 9th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
25=hahahaha
February 9th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
So what would be the best geographic schedule. Jacksonville / St. Louis / Indy. Or New Orleans / St. Louis / Indy
February 9th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
Wisconsin scares me.
February 9th, 2010 at 1:58 pm
Nevermind, I guess it is Milwaukee / St. Louis
February 9th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Only think I don’t like is this is the MILWAUKEE regional, which means if Wisconsis survives, then that would be a home game for them…just like we have had to in that same state in the past.
February 9th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
(25 that is awesome
February 9th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
I don’t want to face Rhode Island in the 2nd round. They have an athletic, experienced PG and some decent depth all around. The exact type of team that gets hot and pulls a big upset every year.
February 9th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Hey Hellen Keller, have you heard your joke? Why did they make you wear tights in school??? So they could read your lips!
February 9th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
14….I haven’t seen the Racers play this year, but i hope your right. As a former student for 7 plus years it would be awesome for them to win a game in the tourney.
February 9th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
The Baylor team is bigger then you think.
The Bears have two 7ft guys plus a 6′10 guy inside and another Center-forward who’s 6′10 and their guard is capable of going off in any game, plus Tweety is a senior.
So huge edge to Baylor on experience.
I would also give another edge inside to Baylor because they have fouls to give with their size and depth
Baylor is bigger in size and they have a better coach then UK.
Think about this Cal’s last two NCAA teams lost in 2008 to Kansas and last year to Missouri.
Mike Anderson out coached Cal in that game.
I really don’t think you should want that match up in the NCAA because Baylor plays a zone and a good zone can slow down a more talented team.
If UK plays Baylor you would probably lose the game.
February 9th, 2010 at 2:49 pm
32. We wouldn’t play Wisconsin until the regional final in Syracuse. We would play Robert Morris & baylor/Rhode Island winner in Milwaukee
February 9th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Duanep = Crazy
February 9th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
#37 - Baylor is 4-4 in the Big 12; maybe Cal can check with the 4 Big12 coaches who have already beat them; Baylor is a good team, I’ll give you that. Better than UK, on a neutral floor? Doubt it…
February 9th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Would love to crush the Dirty Birds in the tournament and completely break what little spirit Ricky has left. His career needs to exit the same way his dignity did.
February 9th, 2010 at 3:09 pm
Sorry tltaworl
I just analyzed the game and both teams to make my post on here.
I just said Baylor with their size and depth would not be a cup cake if you should meet them in the tournament.
So you calling me crazy is a little premature at this point and remember I said it would not be an easy win.
I did not say UK would lose the game. I am just saying it could be a tough match up if UK did have to play Baylor, but good luck if you do meet Baylor in the Tournament.
February 9th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
Duanep, I agree Baylor is a tough out, but it’s an “out” when all is said and done. Their bigs are not nearly as talented as our bigs, in my opinion. I’ve only seen them a couple of times on ESPN, but I just don’t think they man up with us.
February 9th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
The only way this bracket would be easier is if we got the close to home benefits that UNC and Duke unually do and played in Louisville and Cincinnati with the Final 4 in Indy. Nice for them when they can ride a bike on the road to the Final 4. Lord help us if a dome is ever built in Charlotte.
February 9th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
ukwins8@counting
I agree with you about Baylor’s record but give them a neutral site game, they can be dangerous
Their size can be a nightmare to match up with if they go zone and use their depth
Two 7 ft guy’s and two legit 6′10 guys can present problems for teams.
Baylor also can play that nasty zone that the faster teams hate because they can slow down better teams in games.
I know UK can win the game should you meet them but I can see it being a ugly Syracuse type of game and anything can happen in the tournament.
Good Luck UK
February 9th, 2010 at 3:59 pm
look, when you get in the tournament (USUALLY not including the 1st round for the top 3-4 seeds) it comes down to whose hot/not and matchups.
talent does not always win games, but it sure does come to close to winning games.
could Baylor beat Kentucky? sure. but on any given night Kentucky wins that game 7 out of ten times.
and i for one would like someone to find 1 person in college basketball that can slow down Cousins from going for 15 and 10. that right there, is a matchup no one can match.
heres to hoping i dont eat my words later.
Number 8 here we come!
GO CATS!
February 9th, 2010 at 4:25 pm
DUKE SUCKS! They could lose 20 games and still be a #2 seed in the NCAA tourney! And just like another poster said, thye will always play in greensboro every year. Wouldn’t that be nice to have the CATS play in Louisville every year to start the tournament?
February 9th, 2010 at 4:32 pm
The 2 teams that scare me the most out of this braket are Baylor and Missouri.

ONLY AT 30,000 GET THE HITS UP
February 10th, 2010 at 9:05 am
The only thing that scares me about this whole bracket is that Syracuse is on our final four side which will actually be the
Championship game because they definitely look like the best 2 teams in the nation talent wise. Scared of Baylor because of
talent and zone please UK has more talent than anyone in the country and has played against the zone all year. UK crushes this
bracket without a problem! Go CATS!
February 10th, 2010 at 11:25 am
Ohio St is no 5 seed, they will be a 3 come March. Turner is 10x more complete player than Wall right now. Not even close. Cats would win the game, but keep an eye on OSU in the coming weeks. Evan Turner is fun to watch.
February 10th, 2010 at 11:35 am
Louisville will beat Kentucky away from RAPE Arena. Write it down.
