[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]

The fans above are doing the Wall Dance with someone named Jeffrey Donovan, who is apparently an actor that does tv shows with names like “Burn Notice.” I dont know him but someone said he was famous, so why not throw him up here. Some notes:
— It is hard to imagine the national media making a mountain out of a molehill, but we have that again. Thanks to the Worldwide Leader in Bristol, the story that John Wall is unhappy with Calipari has made the rounds. It all started with a simple tweet from Jimmy Dykes, in which it seems he saw the Alan Cutler story on Wall’s comments on Saturday. Then came the bundle of joy Pat Forde and Pete Thamel of the New York Times, chiming in and saying to watch out for the developing situation. It was discussed on Sportscenter with Bobby Knight and according to Mr. Tony’s radio show, will be a topic on PTI this afternoon.
If this shows us nothing else, it is that when it comes to local stories, the national guys generally get them wrong. I am not talking about the Jeff Goodmans, Gary Parrishs or Andy Katzs, who specialize in college basketball. But when the general sports columnist attempts to find “juicy” details, they end up stirring up dust where none is needed. My guess is that now UK will make John Wall available to the media again to clear up the situation and the ESPN generated frenzy will go away. As I have said a number of times on here, you have to see how these interviews go and see context and facial expressions, to really know what a player means aside from just words on a screen. I understand fans sometimes forgetting that, but supposed journalists should know better. Apparently they dont.
— The Cats dropped to #3 in one poll and #4 in another, after the loss to South Carolina. Considering the fact that the other one loss teams have losses to better teams than South Carolina, I have no problem with that ranking. If the tournament bracket came out today, the Cats would likely be shipped out West to play in the Salt Lake City regional…lets hope that isnt the final decision.
— Demarcus Cousins was not named SEC Freshman of the Week, even though he averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds a game for the week. The SEC has officially decided it was tired of giving UK guys the award. That is the only reasonable explanation.
— Sports By Brooks is reporting that an ESPN source says a 96 team NCAA Tournament is a “done deal.” I really hope this is wrong…more teams would totally devalue the regular season and make mediocre teams into tournament teams. This would only be done for money and to save coaches’ jobs (so they can say they “made the tournament.”) Terrible idea.
— Three football players, Randall Cobb, Derrick Locke and Winston Guy all tweeted that the new Rock Oliver football workouts are great and that he is tough, but getting the job done. Rock is a beast.
— Finally, a big thanks to the KSR readers. We hit #1 on college podcasts and #3 on All sports podcasts again today on iTunes in our 13th week of existence. We were only behind PTI and Bill Simmons today, registering our highest week since the first one. You guys are amazing and I still cant get over the size of the Big Blue fanbase.
More later today…

Basically the same thing they did with bowl games. We get to go to a bowl game and it makes us happy.

I may be the only UK fan excited about the SLC regional as a possibility.
Realistically though, I hope we get either St. Louis or Houston, just so we can get more fans there. But if does end up being SLC, then I may actually get a chance to go to the game.

Jimmy Dykes is a dick.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:01 pm
I have only seen “crazy legs” at two games this year! I really enjoy him dancing and look foward to it every time. On this site and podcast I hear
mention of “dancing guy” is this someone new or is that the politically correct name for”crazy legs”??
February 1st, 2010 at 3:02 pm
Fans need to make Jimmy Dykes’ visit to UK on Tuesday a nightmare. I mean somebody spit in his drinks(Then tell him about it later) or whatever it takes to make his life a living hell.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:04 pm
I don’t think it matters where UK is placed, our fans will be the majority anywhere this year.
And if they’ve expanded the tournament they’ve ruined it.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:08 pm
‘Nova has a brutal road schedule so I don’t see them staying up there. They play at G-town and at WV in the next week, then at Cincy and at Syracuse later on. If they survive that I’d put them ahead of Kansas.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:11 pm
How have you not seen Burn Notice? Great show on USA.
And they should really do a 68 team tourney which it seems like that article kind of still mentioned as a possibility. Last 4 at large, first 4 left out play for the 12 seed.

I love Burn Notice
Its like McGuyver for metrosexuals

New podcast is great — one request though: make sure guests are speaking into the microphone. I’m having to turn the volume up to hear Porter and then Matt Jones is really loud. Great work though. Thanks and keep it up!

Since Cousins reads this site I decided to write him a poem:
With a swag as pure as Peter Parker,
and a game that fits his name.
Your the type of person and a player,
to bring Lexington the fame.
Backing down the opponent in the block,
is where your needed most.
we can see you juke your mans jock,
when we are going coast to coast.
We know the miles are many,
from your family you are apart.
Understand one thing thats plenty,
is the love in a UK fans heart.
For a team with so much talent,
and a coach not far from great.
We’ll need you when we reach our peak,
Thats right, it’s title eight.
So you chose to rep our state,
may God be with you here.
But to see you maximize your skillz,
Calipari’s blue you wear.

Orchids to the F’ball team and to KSR (there’s a REASON everyone comes here for news!)

11 Yeah thats definitely the best poem Ive ever read (in the last 5 minutes)
February 1st, 2010 at 3:19 pm
People been whinning about the NCAA adding more teams to the tourney since they expanded from 24 teams in early 70′s. I’ve about gotten over it in my old age. You should too, Matt.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Poems are silly. I mean really.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:21 pm
I assumed there would be haters out there, but if Boogie is going to take the time to read the site I was going to take the time to put together a poem for him.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:21 pm
Very glad to see Rock Oliver on the football staff and also gettin the job done! OPERATION: WIN 2010 starts in the off-season. With what we have returning combined with a favorable schedule there is no reason not to have 6-8 wins and get to another bowl! GO CATS
February 1st, 2010 at 3:22 pm
Leave the poems to JJ Reddick or Turkey Hunter
February 1st, 2010 at 3:23 pm
I have never understood poems. I think it is just a poorly thought out paragraph.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:25 pm
11)”Calipari’s blue you wear.”
I couldn’t help but read that in a yoda voice.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Anyone in here interested in selling your season tickets to UK football games? If so, let me know.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:26 pm
Please don’t mess with college basketball’s post season. The season is laid out better than any other sport. The regular season games have the perfect weight, and the post season is by the best sporting event of they year.

BE CAREFUL JIMMY D, WE WILL THROW YO ASS OFF THE WAGON!!
February 1st, 2010 at 3:29 pm
Just sounds like a lot of people are jealous because nobody has ever wrote a poem about them.
February 1st, 2010 at 3:31 pm
It’s all about the Benjamins, eh? 96 > 64
Bigger is better.

Jimmy Dykes’ son was probably locked in a training room for a few hours by Bob Huggins
February 1st, 2010 at 3:41 pm
Burn Notice is a fantastic show on USA. It features lots of explosions, chicks in bikinis, MacGyver like commentary, and a girlfriend named Fionna (who never wears a bra)
February 1st, 2010 at 3:48 pm
Agghhh! Why is dykes taking all the blame here people? Alan cutlers sasquash ass started this crap with his usual digging 4 the juicy stuff crap! For the life of me I can’t understand the love affair you people have with that douche
February 1st, 2010 at 3:58 pm
33 is completely correct, but leaves out an important detail: Bruce Campbell is also in the show, and Bruce Campbell is a god among men.

96 teams? UGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
Well I guess the filthy Cards might make that field.
Damn that Pitino.
February 1st, 2010 at 4:44 pm
I seem to remember that in the 40′s and 50′s and maybe later that NIT was a more prestgious tournament than the NCAA. Am I right on this and didn’t UK win some of those?
February 1st, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Burn Notice Kicks Ass and so does Jeff Donovan. Sweet Pic!
February 1st, 2010 at 4:56 pm
I think interest in the march madness would decline significantly if they expand. None of my secretaries are going to be able to fill out a bracket if it has more blanks. The thing barely fits on 8.5×11, and no one is going to be using funny-sized paper on a work copier.
Also, am I the only one against a football playoff because Florida, Texas and Bama could have rested starters being assured of a spot, one day leading a mediocre florida state or Auburn into the NY Jets role of team that was let into the playoff by the team not risking injuries. Anything more than a ‘plus one if necessary’ risks devaluing the regular season like the NFL already does.
February 1st, 2010 at 4:57 pm
if we had 96 teams last year would bg still be here? that right there is a good reason to NOT change it.
February 1st, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Matt knows Cougartown but not Burn Notice??? somethings not right here
February 1st, 2010 at 6:41 pm
I love Burn Notice, I just don’t know who Jeff Donavon is.
February 1st, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Why do they continue to say pics of people posing like wall are doing the John wall dance. I’ve yet to see anyone dancing, just posing. Not the same. I want a pic of kige actually doing the dance

Drew you should be working
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:21 am
The NCAA finds a way to screw up everything they are involved with.
Please be wrong about a 96 team tournament.
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:29 am
It’s a National Championship tournament. We already allow in a couple dozen teams or so that have no chance whatsoever of winning a national title or even having the slightest sliver of reality to contend for final four spot. There is ZERO!!! reason to include more.
Rewarding people who have done nothing even borderline special has ruined football even worst than it ever was brfore (as hard as that was to believe possible).
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:36 am
Can’t wait to hear the 65th team idiots (or whatever bubble number we’re at now) arguing about how ridiculous it was to leave out the 97th team. “How did we leave that team out and put that team in.” Who cares, neither the group of bubble teams left out and those bubble teams put in over team deserved to be in anyway. I have never seen one in any of those silly discussion that deserved a spot in a national championship tournament. They have no spot.
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:39 am
