[Moderated by Matt Jones]

It was a rather convincing win for the Cats on Saturday, as they took a lead early on Vanderbilt and never turned back, holding a 12-19 point cushion the entire game. It was officially the longest game in Rupp in recent memory (4.5 hours I believe) and one of the more frustrating. Since I am the only one left all day here on Sunday to hold down the fort, lets look at ten notes:
(1): If I remember this game (and chances are high I wont) five years from now, it will be known as the game the referees ruined. From the opening tip, the referees decided to dominate the contest, calling an absurd number of fouls that prevented the action from ever reaching any natural flow and causing both teams to be in foul trouble throughout. After the game, I was talking to the dean of college basketball writers, Dick “Hoops” Weiss, who said, “when referees start blowing the whistle, they cant stop…its like a disease.” If thats the case, then today’s game performance must be characterized as lupus.
(2): The star of the show was Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins, who dominated the inside once again and continued his impressive string of top-notch performances. Boogie took to the task of going against a top-flight big man well, as he dominated AJ Ogilvy in nearly every way imaginable. After the game, Cousins said that all of the talk before the game about what it would be like for him to play against a top big man motivated him and he wanted to show that Ogilvy wasnt the dominant post player in the SEC. Mission accomplished.
(3): Speaking of Ogilvy, his frosted tips hair was certainly a highlight to see for the opposition. Jimmy Dykes apparently praised his flowing locks with the same exuberance of a TBK lifetime member and AJ’s hair was the dominant topic on the KSR Live Blog. While he certainly has some talent, Ogilvy may be the most overrated player in the conference and while his team is very good, the idea that he is a First Team All-SEC guy is silly.
(4): The only people more giddy to see Lebron James in the building than the assembled media, were the students, fans and cheerleaders. Lebron talk was everywhere and people gasped as he walked by like he was a Backstreet Boy in 1998. I am not sure about his choice of apparel (he looks to be wearing my grandmother’s blue cardigan), but like with Wall, he radiates a star power that is mighty impressive to see up close.
(5): John Wall had some strange comments today to WLEX’s Alan Cutler. He said that after Calipari said he played poorly against South Carolina:
“I didn’t think I played that bad. I don’t know what to expect. He’s probably going to say I played bad today too so. I don’t know. I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and try and help my team win. To be honest, I really haven’t been having fun for the last two weeks. It’s just being frustrated and things like that so, I just got to figure it out before we go further in league play.”
Kind of an odd sentiment for Wall, who had seemed positive to me in the last couple of weeks. You can read Cutler’s full piece at this link.
(6): Good to see Liggins and Dodson play well in their efforts today. Dodson showed that when this team hits three point shots, they are totally unguardable. And Liggins gave defensive energy throughout and got on the floor on play after play. When they step up, the team is much better for it….although Darius Miller will continue to see his minutes decrease.
(7): Both teams believed that the various technicals were deserved. Both Calipari and Kevin from the “Office” said after the game that the technicals given by the referees were on point. Kevin said he “earned” his with some comments and Calipari said that Cousins deserved his as well. Although then Calipari repeated that he is proud of Demarcus’s attitude progression and how far he has come this year.
(8): In case you havent noticed, the guy with blue glasses behind the bench is becoming a star. Most seem to think he looks like Greg Raymer and he is a constant topic on the Live Blogs. I actually know the girl he sits with at all games well but I dont know his story. He has become the new “Dancing Guy” of 2010 as we all wonder who he is and what he does.
(9): After the game, Calipari made sure to say that he was fine with the play of Patrick Patterson. He said that concerns fans had expressed about Patterson were off base and said that worrying about Patrick is “the least of our worries.” He wants him to be a bit more aggressive but said he will focus on calling more plays for him going forward so as to get him involved in the action.
(10): Huge win for the Cats, and CJ Leslie was in attendance for the big game. I personally didnt see him there, but our man Dustin made the report before it started. Seeing Lebron couldnt hurt and it may be that UK is pushing to try and get something done soon. Stay tuned to find out.
Great win and a good time in Rupp. Hope you folks arent snowed in to badly and on Sunday, we will have Boogie on the fans, Rick Pitino’s frustration and the podcast, with our guest Michael Porter. Stay tuned…..

Anyone got Jimmy Dykes’ finally tally for “House Money” references in the broadcast? My god that man makes my ears bleed. “House money” now joins “Violent cuts” and “Downey takes 1 out of every 3 shots…” as phrases I never need to hear again in my lifetime.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:35 am
Wall might be having issues beyong basketball that we dont know about….dont make it out to be something it really isn’t…leave the kid alone…he will be fine!
January 31st, 2010 at 12:37 am
I think Kevin Stallings looks more like Todd Packer from the Office
January 31st, 2010 at 12:37 am
Nice one #1.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:37 am
I believe CJ Leslie was behind the UK bench. He was wearing a black shirt with a yellow collar. At least I think it was him..
January 31st, 2010 at 12:37 am
i hate to say this, but i talked with several people and they are getting tired of cousins’ antics. cal needs to get them under control or he is going to hurt the team at some point.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:38 am
Wall will be just fine. I’m sure he is a little frustrated he hasn’t been getting many transition opprotunities. I don’t think he meant what he said about Calipari like it was taken. I think he meant he was trying to stay positive and not worry …….
January 31st, 2010 at 12:38 am
Does the dancing guy still come to the games
January 31st, 2010 at 12:41 am
They showed Leslie behind the bench several times.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:41 am
business card, but he doesn’t have a business ….lol
January 31st, 2010 at 12:42 am
that was for #8, not sure how the smiley got there
January 31st, 2010 at 12:45 am
Ha thats funny. Thank you I have enjoyed watching him in the past but haven’t had the chance to make it back this year
January 31st, 2010 at 12:45 am
Wall may be fine but that comment is not good for other recruits to hear. Will probable {hopefully} be nothing to it though. Wall could be huge in talking to other recruits and helping them decide to come to UK.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:50 am
The regular season is a rollar coaster. Wall will be fine. There are high’s and low’s & he is in a low.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:50 am
The man with the blue sunglasses is lexington businessman name Bill Morgan. he’s a nice guy.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:53 am
WTF 13…..what are you talking about….like he is gonna dis the school he represents….aslong it took for him to finally decide and as much as the fans and public love him…it has nothing to do with recruiting
January 31st, 2010 at 12:54 am
I think we need to have grammar lesson Matt. Do you understand the difference between to and too? I know you are going to say it was just a typo, but you use the wrong one all the time.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:55 am
“House money”
“If Vandy gets it down to single digits”
“Kentucky won’t be #1″

exactly how bored are you?
January 31st, 2010 at 1:00 am
the wall comments concern me a little bit, but i agree that hes just hitting the freshman wall. what does concern me is how we’re going to effectively utilize the explosive transition speed of wall and the interior dominance of boogie

January 31st, 2010 at 1:01 am
I spoke to dancin guy at the music city bowl. He said work has kept him from making it to a lot of the games this yr.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:01 am
Kentucky is the best team in the country, Kansas and Cuse are close. Nova has no post players and everyone else lacks elite talent to contend.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:02 am
who freaking want to play the role of grammar police on this site…wait a minute…let me drive them crazy. I hate the peeple who play the roll of grammer cops on this sight. We was only trying to enjoy the comments made by Matt. Is it to much for you too do the same?
January 31st, 2010 at 1:04 am
Grammar police=guys who chose 12-sided dice over girls in high school
January 31st, 2010 at 1:07 am
The announcers were absolutely dreadful.
Brad Nessler was “calling the league office” about a Cousins elbow that the refs deemed unintentional even after the replay.
Jimmy Dykes kept pulling out that gawd-awful “house money” comment like Vandy didn’t come to Rupp to win and that UK didn’t accomplish anything by beating Vandy. Give me a break.
I had to mute a game we led by double digits throughout for the first time in my life.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:07 am
Commenter 25 did not use a period. I am telling BTI about this, expect a suspension.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:10 am
I was so annoyed by Dykes comments on Vandy playing with house money too, like they don’t want to win the SEC or get a high seed. I guess Vandy thought it was an exhibition game.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:10 am
i was at the game so i didn’t hear the “house money” comment by dykes. what did he mean?
January 31st, 2010 at 1:12 am
It seems to me that Wall’s dissatisfaction has coincided with Cousins’ emergence as our “go-to” guy.
I hope he’s mature enough to realize that he doesn’t have to lead the team in scoring to be the #1 pick in the draft.
I had really hoped that we had put the “chemistry” questions behind us long ago…
January 31st, 2010 at 1:15 am
He basically meant Vandy had nothing to lose, they didn’t need the win because they beat Tenn. on the road this week and all the pressure was on UK to win.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:16 am
oh, well thats retarded.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:17 am
I think part of the reason Wall hasn’t looked as spectacular, is due to the fact that the whole team is getting better. Early on he was our main offensive weapon, now he just runs the team. How many times does he get 16-20 points and it doesn’t seem like it?? Every team is trying to stop him, so Big Cuz is getting the benefit from it ….. PICK YA POISON
January 31st, 2010 at 1:20 am
30) there is no chemistry questions …… look at todays game, everyone shared the wealth. How many
did UK have in double figures?? 5 or 6?? thats not a chemistry issue to me
January 31st, 2010 at 1:21 am
I was talkin shi* the whole game.lol
January 31st, 2010 at 1:22 am
i wouldn’t read too much into wall’s comments…just my opinion but i think cutler might be making it out to be more than it really is…
January 31st, 2010 at 1:26 am
36) Not Cutler … surely
January 31st, 2010 at 1:27 am
I guess that explains Wall’s play the past couple of weeks. You can’t say that he has played bad but he hasn’t been the same spectacular player we saw in the non-conference games.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:27 am
from an earlier game- it was funny as hell to hear the WVU students chanting “Ka-ren Sy-pher” a couple of times during the Uvel game.
Too bad the fun was erased by the Dykes-Nessler trainwreck.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:34 am
I think Wall is just frustrated because teams are getting physical with him, and he’s not getting as many calls as he used to. Remember when he would shoot like 10 free throws a game, not happening as much. He will start smiling again soon.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:42 am
Cj waited at my restaurant for an hour tonight, didn’t get a table, and then eventually left. I hope that Cal called CJ away, because my service was poor.
January 31st, 2010 at 1:45 am
The more I think about it….
Maybe Wall’s comment is being over-blown a bit.
It is one slightly negative comment grouped with 4-5 positive comments from different sources referencing the same game. I don’t know…
It just sucks to read that our star player is ignoring our $4 million per year coach because he thinks he’s a distraction. Is that how you guys read that?
January 31st, 2010 at 1:47 am
42) dont read into the Wall comments …….. he is fine and all will be good
January 31st, 2010 at 1:56 am
Yep….. isn’t that the bill morgan that owns the tire place with the sexy daughter (or at least she used to be…not seen her in years)?? If she’s still hot maybe she could be a KSR girl!!!
January 31st, 2010 at 2:02 am
He’s probably still frustrated at the idiot “fans” posting negative comments on his facebook page. He wants to please and every player wants support even if they have a bad game.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:04 am
I wrote a song for that man’s daughter (if he is who I think he is) about a President or something for a school assignment…… add her to the list of high school dipolmas people got because of me. Think her dad would give me his ticket for one game??
January 31st, 2010 at 2:04 am
Yall are forgetting one:
-House Money
-If Vandy gets it to 10
-Uk won’t be #1
-AND—— gap defense!!!
Lmao everytime they would say gap defense I would roll thinking of a group of girls playing cock block for each other.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:06 am
the game lasted about 4.5 hours…. really… espn didnt cut into ku-ksu until 8:30?
January 31st, 2010 at 2:09 am
The gap defense comments were funny because UK scored 85… I guess getting torched is called gap defense now.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:13 am
will the real john wall please stand up !! look who gets upset when he’s not the “Star” and D. Cousins is / Here’s a question for you kitty fans / In the last two games how many assists does John Wall have to D. Cousins? the answer is 0 people / Cousins has 48 points in the last two games and NOT one of them is a result of a John Wall pass
Fear The Bird U of L
January 31st, 2010 at 2:13 am
Seems to me other teams have learned to hammer Wall when he drive to the basket. Refs are not giving him the calls like they did early in the year.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:13 am
The game is being replayed on ESPNU right now!!!!!!
January 31st, 2010 at 2:13 am
It’s never Lupus.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:21 am
I have to start stuff with you guys cause we suck and are going to the NIT. Know how many wins we have against ranked teams? The answer is 0 people. we have 13 wins and none against a ranked team. I wish we were as good as you guys.
Fear The Bird U of L
January 31st, 2010 at 2:24 am
#50 Here is a question for you. would you rather be 20-1 or 13-8????? Enjoy the NIT.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:26 am
where were we? we won but crowd was weak, me included. thought i might scare someone to yell…
January 31st, 2010 at 2:26 am
My favorite part had to be the “USA! USA!” chants when Ogilvy was taking free throws. Classic.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:38 am
only had lebron and cj and #1st place team in sec here…don’t know what happened but we were a disapointment off the court…cats were great on the court…dodson and boogie was better! rebels next? its will be ugly if we get in it!!! lets go rupp!
January 31st, 2010 at 2:42 am
Everyone was too nervous to cheer. That is why Rupp is not loud sometimes. I was watching that KU vs. KSU game and when State was down by three in the waning seconds of regulation they cut to the crowd during a time out. The students were going crazy jumping up and down to the music. Now, to the outside observer it would seem that they were really getting into it. In reality it is not that big a deal to them. Yes they want to win the game and they def. want to beat KU but at the end of the day it is just something to do and enjoy as part of the college experience. Not so at UK. It is more important to us. And yes you want to be loud and create a hostile environment for the opponent but sometimes it is hard to yell when your stomach is in your throat. I know that today’s game was not necessarily a nail-biter but I did not relax until about the 1:30 mark.
January 31st, 2010 at 2:47 am
do what? you drank as much as i did tonight denise…
January 31st, 2010 at 3:35 am
59) I agree its not the same to other fans as it is to most UK fans, but the cheering
part in Rupp not so much. We played good, on tv there never seemed to be very much enthusiasm
from the crowd what so ever. They did get up and cheer near the end of the 1st half on the final
possession ….. I’m just saying, for the enthusiasm of UK basketball & as many die hard fans
that we have, Rupp isn’t much of a factor on ” home court advantage” other than its size.
January 31st, 2010 at 3:39 am
61- Maybe if people weren’t so worried about being “good sports” and “respectful” we could get a home court advantage. The true homecourt advantage comes by finding out how to really get inside the head of 18-21 year olds and overpaid coaches. West Virginia managed to do it…
January 31st, 2010 at 3:46 am
I feel like the best thing we as fans can do for our coach and team is to give them some room right not. Any issue will work themselves out. Cal knows what he is doing.
January 31st, 2010 at 4:41 am
It is too late and I am too tired to read all of the comments. Add to it that I am writing this from my iTouch and I would hope I have a free pass for any mistakes. I stated on the Blog (which Matt did not post) that Wall has looked human for past few weeks and his upbeat “I love this game, team, and ability to take over a game at will” attitude has obviously been missing. I hate that for J-Dub. His smile and attitude is crucial and infectious for how far this team can go. Great game for our boys and here is to hoping that Wall finds that DRIVE once again.
January 31st, 2010 at 4:41 am

It’s like getting Bible lessons from Mark Twain.

The man in the blue glasses is Bill Morgan. He owns B&B Tires on Broadway just past Loudon Ave.
January 31st, 2010 at 5:18 am
#14 Yes, Bill Morgan CAN be a nice guy, but I have known him for years, and he sometimes can be an arse! #46 His daughter is still an attractive young lady. And her father is the one who owns B&B Morgan Tire, he also does the Poor Man’s Derby at Legends Park. Oh, and I SERIOUSLY doubt that he would give you a ticket, unless he got something in return. As for the lady, I believe they are engaged Matt, IIRC (if I remember correctly).
January 31st, 2010 at 6:46 am
Hopefully Cal can get the love back between him and Mr. Wall but John needs to give up the ball on some of those one on three scenarios. Cuz or PPat standing at the baseline. Sounds funny considering the kid has broken a 20 yr old record for freshman assists.
January 31st, 2010 at 7:15 am
18 im with you they get on this one subject and ride it to death.I used to think those to that did the game liked ky but hell yesterday and tuesday night it was like they were dying to see ky get beat so they would loose the number one spot.Hell if that dam game didnt mean nothing why did vandy even show up said that vandy had nothing to loose i think they lost the game gezzzzzzzzzzzzzz.I think what there saying if you get beat by ky its no big deal go figure go cats.

An unabashed UK supporter!
January 31st, 2010 at 8:28 am
I think Wall is frustrated because the honeymoon is over with the national media. Downey took all the pub and his play was praised all week. ESPN is talking about Downey as SEC player of the year and many others as National POY. Wall needs to learn to deal with this(wait ’till he deals with the NYC media next year) as the media is always looking for a story. John Wall as POY was the story a month ago and even if he is still the leader for it, it is not a story.
January 31st, 2010 at 8:42 am
67. Actually Bill and the young lady have been married for quite some time (4 years or so). She is a Lexington attorney, originally from Paris. He is a nice guy, but one my grandfather would classify as an “odd duck”.
January 31st, 2010 at 8:43 am
What ever happened to “Crazy Legs”? I’ve only saw him like twice this year.. And who is “dancing guy”? Is he the new crazy legs??? Where does he sit?
January 31st, 2010 at 9:24 am
Matt, seriously, you criticize King James’ wardrobe? Your hair looks like someone put a mixing bowl on your head and cut around the edges, haha.
It reminds me of that commercial where the barber hangs a banner outside his shop that says “We fix 6 dollar haircuts”, except that you probably gave them six dollars and got 4 dollars in change.
I’m just joking.
But not really.
January 31st, 2010 at 9:29 am
The guy in the blue glasses is Bill Morgan or B & B Tire on N Broadway… also, hosts the poor man’s derby eve party at Applebee’s Park… fyi
January 31st, 2010 at 9:39 am
I love cousins he is fast becoming one of my favorite wildcats of all time. The reason for me is he isn’t worried about the nba right now all he knows is he wants to win really badly.Sure he needs to mature but he is only 18 still plenty of time for that.As for wall it seems to me that he needs the attention a little more.He pounds his chest and all that when he is doing good but doesn’t seem as much into it if it’s cousins who’s the one dominating.Am i wrong here?
January 31st, 2010 at 9:40 am
I think Wall is just frustrated by somebody telling him he had a bad game. You have to remember, people have been praising this guy as “the next big thing” for about 3-4 years now. Now, he’s at the college level and there are people saying he had “an off night”.
That’s probably hard to hear for a young player after so much hype around him.
January 31st, 2010 at 9:50 am
Does anyone really care about the guy in the blue glasses when the girl in the blue dress sitting next to him is providing us with a terrific view of her cleavage. Really Matt. The blue glasses. I’m starting to worry about you.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:05 am
It seems like Wall’s attitude changed ever since Coach said Wall was not coming back next year. That Coach would shove him out the door if need be. After that, the “fun” left Wall. IMHO.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:15 am
blue glasses guy behind the bench = jerk, i’ve had a few run ins with him before
January 31st, 2010 at 10:19 am
I think Wall may be homesick. He’ll be fine. Kentucky will get a #1 seed and thats whats important.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:32 am
I was also at the game and my favorited chant that came from the “E-Rupp-tion” zone was “Blooming Onion” when Ogilvy shot free throws. HA! It came after they had chanted “USA” a few times.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:34 am
gotta agree w whoever said Wall’s ‘honeymoon’ w the media is over… Downey stole his player of the year in SEC thunder and now Evan Turner is in a coin-flip for national player of the year…he was the hottest thing, but then after a loss he took a hit in national thought (although undeserved) but no worries, he still number one draft pick for certain.
also, instead of bashing the grammar police, at least try not to sound like a white trash POS and the reason other fans hate UK fans
January 31st, 2010 at 10:34 am
84) Who are you and what are you doing here?
January 31st, 2010 at 10:41 am
84. stfu loserville dork. so miserable that you have to come to a UK message board to have any fun? so sad.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:45 am
everybody stop worrying about Wall. In modern sports its all “What you have done lately”. As soon as he has another dominant game (Tuesday perhaps), the media will fawn over him and everybody will be happy.
January 31st, 2010 at 10:55 am
Wall is getting his first critisism…Wall is simply not as good as the hype. He has been scouted…he doesn’t have the handle of a super elite point…he has to shoot set shots outside the 3 line..he doesn’t finish well around the rim…because he has a bad habit of turning his back to the defense which makes the shot a lot more difficult. Won’t be long until he drops from the 1 hole at the draft.
Fans hate it but Lachlan McClain was right on WHAS…no where near the hype…great athlete…just a very good player.
January 31st, 2010 at 11:03 am
Bill Morgan is from Harlan. He is a great family friend. Bill gives to the program as much as anyone. He is married to the young lady he is with. I have sat in his seats a few times. I cab see if he would hook you up with some.
January 31st, 2010 at 11:05 am
90) You’re nuts! Wall has more upside than any person ever to play at KY. You probably said the same things about Rondo… ‘no jump shot, poor handle, doesn’t share the ball’, blah blah blah. Now he’s an NBA allstar. Wall is an amazing athlete who at 18 is still learning the game. He will also be an NBA allstar. He’ll have ups and downs as he learns, just like all elite players. GET OFF HIS BACK!!!!!!

A story about Bill and his background. I went to law school with his wife. She’s good people.
January 31st, 2010 at 11:17 am
I wouldn’t worry about John Wall too much. If anyone knows how to work with an 18 year old star, it’s Calipari. And every indication has been that Wall has a great attitude. I’m just glad there weren’t people sticking a microphone in my face all the time when I was that age. No telling what I would have said.
As for Wall’s game, teams are clearly adjusting to him, and he and the rest of the team need to adapt. They’re cutting off the fast breaks and drives to the basket. And Wall’s no longer hitting such a high percentage on those drives, he’s not getting the foul calls as much, and he’s still turning the ball over too much, trying to force things. Especially with Cousins getting double-teamed, someone’s open when Wall drives. It’s not unlikely that it’s Patterson. That’s the connection I’d like to see a lot more of.
What was frustrating about the South Carolina game was that the Gamecocks were shutting down UK’s fast break while still getting to the offensive boards. It shouldn’t be so easy to do both, and that was Downey’s big accomplishment. He shot a horrible percentage, but he so discombobulated the defense that we ended up out of rebounding position. And as the announcers noted, USC was sending “snipers” at Wall to harass him on outlet passes.
These are adjustments UK should be able to make over the least third of the season. If they do, they’ll be very tough to beat in the tournament. If they don’t, then it’s all going to come down to how well Boogie shoots out of a triple team.

High, I’m a UK fan but don’t support aspects of the program that damage the intergrity of UK basketball. He may be just 19, but there are plenty of other players that age that know how to carry themselves with class. You on the other hand obviously can’t handle an opinion thats differing from yours. Looks like you’ve got a lot of growing up to do too. Good luck with that.

I wish we would have beaten Vandy by more. Kevin Stallings hates UK and still holds a grudge against us that goes back to the blowout we put on them at Vandy in 2003. Even the horrid game we played there two years ago is not enough for him. They will definitely try to pull out all of the stops when we visit Vandy later, but that is the SEC. I’m not worried about Wall. I’m sure Calipari has a pulse on the situation and is doing a great job with a lot of big egos. With as much talent as we have, it should be expected that there could be a few issues regarding enough basketballs to go around. I agree with #94 that teams are definitely scouting us and making adjustments and we are working on making adjustments to the changes at this time.
A win is a win and I will gladly take yesterday’s victory, but it would be real sweet to beat Vandy at that horrid Memorial colliseum. Its a shame that an agreement can’t be reached in which they could play their home game with us at the Nashville arena.

Wall needs to put a cape on to go with his stocking.

Here is a link to a story about Bill Morgan (blue glasses guy) http://bigbluereview.net/April09/Big_Blue_Fan.html

I think Wall misstated his message. I think he was trying to say that he was not going to take Calipari’s comments to heart in a negative way. Cutler was trying to get him to defend himself against Calipari’s comments… Wall can still take over games, but tends to not get frustrated with not getting foul calls when he misses one of his drives.

You could see Leslie in the crowd once or twice, sitting behind the bench

I think Wall’s comments are more troubling than a lot want to admit on here.

39 - I heard that too. I figured the BE road would be brutal but I haven’t heard that much from them. Huggins asked WVU to take a higher road before the game.
Wall is just hitting a low point. Teams are focusing on him, he can’t do the acrobatics he was doing earlier and the team is playing much better and doesn’t need him to take charge as much. He’ll adjust and be fine. He’s just a little frustrated.
Jimmy Dykes has officially gotten old. His ‘violent cuts’ last year were funny for a little while but he’s trying to capitalize on it this year with ‘house money’. Just call the game.

94- Oh you mean the black kids?

“I didn’t think I played that bad. I don’t know what to expect. He’s probably going to say I played bad today too so. I don’t know. I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and TRY AND HELP MY TEAM WIN.”
“To be honest, I really haven’t been having fun for the last two weeks. It’s just being frustrated and things like that so, I just got to figure it out before we go further in league play.”
There is separated the two statements Wall made, more into how they were actually said, probably. When you shove them together they look worse than they probably are. I also highlighted a part some naysayers seem to be missing–the HELPING MY TEAM part.
Remember everyone–How the message is written is just as important as the message. The juxtaposition of words makes a big difference in how something is read.

Blue Glasses Guy is Bill Morgan of Lexington and owner of B & B Morgan Tires on N. Broadway. Don’t know if he really has the chops to handle the ‘dancing guy’ reigns!

We need 20-30 more people to log in and tell us the guy in the blue glasses is Bill Morgan of B&B Morgan Tires.

It is so funny that the comment by Wall was printed. I had been thinking that Wall didn’t seem right. I watched the SC and Vanderbilt games and I didn’t see him smiling in those games.

I have know Harlan native Bill Morgan for many many years and can honestly say he is definitely one of the nicest fellas and biggest uk fans/contributors there is. He is a good ole boy from Harlan that bleeds blue and helps as many people as he can. I know personally that he has given away his seats to numerous charities and friends over the years and asked for nothing in return. He has contributed to help the lives of many people just out of the goodness of his heart. Ole Billy has even bought cars for people and even put a few people through school. Wild Billy is never scared to buy a beer for a stranger has fed hundreds at his restaurant and given jobs to several when nobody else would. He was a very close friend of Mr. Wildcat and even wrote a poem for him after he passed that was published in the Courier Journal. If you have never been to his derby party you got to. It is the best time in the city and the coaches and celebs always come too. I know not everybody likes everybody and he may have rubbed some people the wrong way but Morgan is the man and has touched many lives with his generosity. Go big blue baby!!! Keep wearin those Blue glasses brother

The man with blue glasses is a little over-exposed right now, but nevertheless deserves a tiny bit of integrity defense. Bill Morgan gives his basketball tickets away every year to charity. If you really, really want the tickets and think you are/have a worthy cause send a request to his tire store and he will gladly consider the request. I’m not sure, however, that his wife will give up the tickets to the remaining games, so blame her for having an uncharitable spirit if you must play the blame/name game. I would think that it would be nearly impossible to part with front row tickets at this time of the year. As for the rude comments regarding Mr. Morgan, please think before you post and remember the old saying “if you can’t say something nice, /blog by. Lastly, to the musical injun, please refrain from libel. The daughter’s a lawyer, too now, and she just may want to get litigious with you.
February 1st, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I personally can attest that yes Bill Morgan gives away his tickets because I have been the receipt of them numerous times! Bill Morgan is an incredibly generous man that likes to have a large time!
February 1st, 2010 at 12:57 pm
ParisianCat - It would only be libel, if it wasn’t true! I sat in his living room in a home off Alumini Drive and wrote it. His daughter was friends with my girl at the time. Writing the song for her project is 100% true, however I am joking about expecting anything now…. years later, like asking about his tickets… but heck, a guy can dream. Those seat are prime real estate. Best wishes to Mr. Morgan and his family. It’s good to hear of the success that his offspring have found as well. Much better that he get attention and not the ladies that sit behind the broadcasters every game!!

Honest Injun-Thanks for the kind reply. Will pass on your best wishes to the Morgan’s.

Also on a side note… there maybe several fans of my song writing that read this page…. assuming that you listened to Jim Tirey when he was on WLAP…. songs such as…This is how Tubby does it and Welcome to Catlanta. Again years ago in the Rondo, Hayes, Azibuike, Morris and Sparks days.

There has never been and never will be another sports radio show here like Allsports Sportstalk 630….. thanks Clear Channel for destroying a dynasty and bringing the boring back. I think Al Davis runs them.

I’ve know Bill Morgan for 39 years….since his Ivanhoe Apt. days. Bill’s genorosity knows no bounds…..Bill and his family give to many worthwhile organizations freely. I’ve had the pleasure to work with Bill on his Poor Mans Derby party for several years and the time and energy that he, his family and associates put into this effort on a yearly basis is amazing and has benefited so many charities over the years. I’m proud to count Bill among my friends…….”Good Ol Boys” do more than sell tires…..they give back for what they’ve been blessed with.
