The question on most folks’ minds this week is “what does it take for UK to make the NCAA”? I tend to be the most optimistic of people, believing that two wins in the next two games and the NCAA Tournament gets us in. I dont see a 20 win Kentucky team being left out of the big dance. Others think that the 20 wins must include one of the two games this week, and while I understand that view, I think it exaggerates how many teams are in line to take UK’s place.
A win at Tenn would be nice, but two wins (one of which is virtually guaranteed if we play Ole Miss in round 1 of the SEC as now projected) will do it…..just have to find a way to make it happen.

I think one win in the next two gets us in, no matter the SEC result. I think 2 losses and we will have to get to the SEC final to get in.

I think Cats fans better not assume anything. The West Virginia game is overrated, it was at the beginning of the year. Both teams are totally different now. The reality is the Cats have been (or will be soon) swept by 3 of the 5 SEC East teams, and lost to the top 2 SEC West teams (should have been top 3). They are obviously the 6th or 7th best team in the SEC this year, and does anyone honestly think the SEC should have 6 or 7 teams in the NCAA this year?
A win in the next two games and a loss in the SEC tourney to a team they just beat by 40 would mean an NIT. So no one can say if they win this week it won’t matter what they do in the SEC tourney.

Payne….i agree that a win this week still requires a win over Ole Miss in the tourney…should have made that clear. And why arent you going to the SEC Tournament?

I was more replying to the first response left to your original comment. As for the tourney, the tax man has bent me over this year. My funding got switched in August to a source that doesn’t withhold taxes so I have to pay back taxes for the last 5 months of the year.
